Chapters 1953.
Hearing that, Gerald chuckled before explaining,
"Don't worry, you won't do anything exhausting, sir! All I ask is that you do some things that require management. His salary alone was one thousand five hundred dollars per month. How's it?"
"A thousand and five hundred dollars?! High salary! W-are you serious about that, Gerald.?"
Yollande cried before Dexter could say a word. After all, where else can they find a high-paying job with a Dexter qualification?
"But of course,! Besides, since you're looking for a job and I'm looking for someone to fill that role, why not just work with me?" Gerald.
Actually, Gerald didn't really need someone to fill that position. He's just making it up just to help Dexter.
"Well... If you think I'm capable enough, yeah! Please, take me in!"
Dexter replied, not wanting to miss the opportunity to get a monthly payment of more than a thousand dollars.
"I'm glad to hear it! You can come report to Yonjour Group tomorrow, sir! I'll ask someone to help you manage the registration procedure. Don't worry, I'll make sure there are some people around to show you the rope!" Gerald.
"understand!"
Dexter answered with great enthusiasm as Raine and Yollande let out an excited cry. After a slight calm, Yollande turned to look at Gerald before sincerely saying, Yollande turned to look at Gerald,
"Thank you so much for everything, Gerald.! Not only did you save our lives, but you even gave my husband a high-paying job.! We've really troubled you a lot."
Smiling in response, Gerald simply said,
"Well, now, ma'am, there's no need to be too polite. This is nothing to me, and again, I happen to need an employee for the job!"
Although the three feel that they now owe the world to Gerald, Gerald himself honestly does not think that he did much.
To be honest, he was only happy that he could help others, and their joy was all he asked for in return.
Regardless, it wasn't long before Dexter supported Yollande to their room to rest. Gerald and Raine alone remained seated on the living room sofa.
To dispel the awkward silence between them, Gerald cleared his throat before saying,
"By the way, I haven't had dinner yet. Since I'm already here, do you want to join me for a meal?"
"Of course!"
Raine replied without any hesitation. With that decision, the two then got into Gerald's car before leaving.
To be honest it was a rather awkward trip as none of them said anything throughout their journey.
Fortunately, the two soon arrived at Schywater Night Market. The market itself is well known as 'bucket' because there are so many food stalls there that serve all sorts of dishes.
With that in mind, the place was usually very crowded, even after ten o'clock in the night!
Those who go there are usually office workers who want to have fun and entertain themselves after work.
Gerald himself often visited the market in the past because of all the good food there. However, ever since he was given a higher ranked identity, he slowly began to frequent high-end bars and clubs.
With that in mind, it had been quite a while since he had last come here, and he felt that he should visit her again just to reminisce at dinner.
Either way, now that they were there, Gerald quickly led Raine to one of the stalls to eat.
However, after sitting down, Gerald could not help feeling that the entire night market had undergone a rather drastic change. Did he really not come here that long.?
Chapters 1954.
Whatever the case may be, the stall that Gerald and Raine chose to eat was set up by an elderly couple. After sitting down, Gerald immediately called out,
"Boss!"
"Hello, hello! Let's see what you want to have!"
Hearing that, the two started scanning their menus.. To be honest, this was the first time Raine had eaten at the night market. With that in mind, he deserves to be overwhelmed by the many choices the menu offers.
Gerald, on the other hand, was used to ordering night market food. Therefore, it did not take long for him to raise his hand before saying,
"Boss! I want twenty goat kebabs, a plate of fried noodles, one grilled fish, a plate of chicken wings."
By the time Gerald's list was complete, Raine could only stare at him with wide-eyed eyes. Lots of food.!
Turning to look at him, Gerald then asked,
"What about you, Raine? Don't worry about the cost, just order whatever you like!"
Shaking his head in response, Raine only smiled faintly as he replied,
"Well... You've booked quite a lot, senior. Why don't we finish it first?"
Hearing that, Gerald simply nodded before saying,
"All right, that's it for now, boss! If we need more food, we'll let you know!"
"understand! The food will be served soon!"
The old woman replied with a smile before quickly returning to her stall.
To be honest, although the other stalls seemed to have quite a number of customers, this particular stall was arid in addition to the Gerald and Raine tables.
With that in mind, it was no wonder why the old couple seemed so happy to serve them. After all, they gave them business.
After all, while waiting for food, Raine realized something that prompted him to immediately whisper,
"Hey, senior! Look there! I think the one grilling the kebab is the old lady's daughter!"
Hearing that, Gerald turned to look where Raine was staring at... And sure enough, the woman who roasted the kebab - who looked to be about the same age as Raine - seemed to be their daughter.
"To think that he had already earned money at such a young age,"
Raine muttered with a sigh, now feeling that he had it much better compared to her.
Whatever the case may be, about twenty minutes later all the dishes are served. Since the old woman was here, Gerald took the opportunity to ask, Gerald,
"That's your daughter, boss?"
Chuckling in response, the old woman then replied,
"He is, yes! My husband and I were about thirty years old when we conceived her, and we are grateful that she was so responsible and diligent. You know, even though he studied hard, he kept trying to help us after school! We really appreciate it because we're too old to get things done fast enough."
Realizing that he had spoken too much, the old woman then smiled before adding, adding,
"Anyways, enjoy your food! I'll take care of other things first, but if you need me, feel free to call!"
Watching the old woman then return to her stall, the two shrugged before starting to eat.
Since Gerald hadn't eaten kebabs for a long time, being able to eat them now brings back some happy memories. How happy.
However, his moment of peace was interrupted when a loud 'accident' suddenly filled the air, followed by someone shouting
"Defeat"!
After which, even more crushing sounds could be heard! What kind of chaos is going on...?
