Gerald Crawford, The Invisible Rich Man

Gerald Crawford, The Invisible Rich Man
Chapters 1915-1917

Chapters 1915.

"W-what should we do now, Mr. Crawford...?"

Rey whispered, gulping her saliva while staring at all the giant scorpions around them. No matter how hard he tried, he could not see any gaps for them to escape at all!

"Stay calm! I thought!"

Gerald replied as he continued to look around, hoping that it would help him devise an escape plan.

Fortunately, it wasn't long before Gerald saw a large door leading out of the area. With their escape route before his eyes, Gerald quickly whispered,

"Rey, did you see that big door at twelve?"

Turning around to look in that direction, Rey then nodded before replying,

"Yes!"

"Good, now listen. Simple plan. You rush to open that door while I distract the scorpion! Understood?" Gerald.

"Hard and clear!"

Rey replied, knowing that it was their best bet to survive this encounter.

Hearing that, Gerald then unsheathed his Astrabyss Sword before shoving Rey with his other hand while shouting, Rei said,

"Good! Go now!"

As Rey nodded before running towards the large door, Gerald himself began to channel his energy into the Astrabyss Sword, letting it emit its spirit aura.

Seeing the scorpions retreat a little - after they saw the spirit-sword, Gerald took the opportunity to get a little closer to Rey.

He makes sure to stay close enough to Rey to ensure that Rey will not be attacked by the hiding scorpion.

Thanks to the teamwork of the two, they were able to bring Rey to the big door. However, to Rey's dismay, no matter how hard she pushed, the door was unwilling to move!

Then again, it's not too surprising. After all, the door was made of stone and was over thirty feet tall. There's no way Rey can open it!

Understanding that, Rey yelled,

"YES..! The door's too heavy for me to open."

"Once again, stay calm. I'm sure there's a mechanism to open it!"

Answer Gerald who is currently watching the giant scorpion that is now charging towards him!

Seeing that, Rey knows that everything is up to her now. If he failed to find his mechanism, then this would be their end...

Therefore, failure is not an option! With that in mind, Rey quickly calmed herself down before starting to look for her mechanism. And not long after, he found it!

The mechanism itself resembled a circular doorknob, and after Rey pulled it, the huge door instantly shook!

Taking a few steps back, Rey could only stare with wide eyes as the door finally opened a few seconds later.

Pleased, Rey then shouted,

"Mrs. Crawford, let's go! Door's open!"

Hearing that, Gerald immediately turned to head for the exit. And moments later, the two found themselves staring at the huge scorpion, which was now stopped in its tracks from the other side of the giant door.

Before long, the scorpion began to retreat, making the puzzled Rey ask,

"...Huh huh? They're not after us."

Gazing as they rushed away, Gerald simply replied,

"Indeed... I assume that they're afraid of something here!"

After saying that, Gerald turned around and started exploring this new place with Rey. Shortly after, they found a kind of spring that had crystal-clear water splashing everywhere.

Of course, this surprised both of them. To think that there would be springs here of all places.

"It's weird to find a spring suddenly!"

Rey exclaimed as she walked over to the flowing body of water before scooping up a little to drink.

With wide eyes as soon as he gulped, Rey inevitably turned to face Gerald as she added, Rey inevitably turned around,

"Holy! Sweet water!"

Rey has never tasted such sweet and refreshing springs in her entire life!

Hearing that, Gerald walked over as well to taste the water, and according to Rey's words, the water was really sweet.

The fact that the spring water with such sweet water was here, in this terrible place was truly baffling.

Before Rey could take another spoon, the water suddenly started bubbling, causing the young man to freeze in shock.

Not long after, the entire spring was filled with bubbles, and within seconds, all the water suddenly evaporated!

"...H-yeah? Hells? How all the water suddenly disappeared!"

Rey exclaimed in disbelief. Before Gerald could even theorize, however, a crisp 'crack' could be heard from the middle of a dry spring.

Correcting their gaze at the source of the sound, the two simply watched as the stone slab suddenly began to rise from the center of the dried-up spring.

Exchanging glances, Gerald and Rey slowly walked over as the stone slab shifted to the side, revealing what looked like a dark entrance leading down!

While Rey's first reaction was to stare at Gerald in disbelief, Gerald himself shone his flashlight to light the bottom of the hole.

The hole itself led to a flat road, and the two walked on until they finally found a large room.

Seeing that there was a golden coffin in the middle of the room, Rey couldn't help but exclaim,

"...A-Is that what I was thinking..? My god! This room, it's a tomb!"

When Rey wonders how their expedition ended up being a tomb exploration, Gerald himself begins to walk deeper into the tomb.

Just a few steps later when the candle in the room suddenly lit up, it instantly illuminated the entire tomb.

Now that everything was well lit up, Gerald noticed that there was a tombstone in the room.

Walking closer and seeing that the ancient inscriptions had been carved on the tombstone, Gerald turned to look at Rey before asking, Gerald turned to look at her,

"Say, can you read this?"

Gerald knows that Rey is the best student, which is why he feels that Rey has the opportunity to decipher the text.

Anyway, Rey quickly ran over before seeing the tombstone. It took a while, but finally, Rey replied,

"yeah. It contains information about the owner of this tomb, Mr Crawford! From what I gathered, the owner of the tomb was named Talias Yah, and he was a general in an ancient country called Zanekh. It was unexpected that the tomb of such a great general could be found within Mount Dakriont. How amazing!"

After hearing that, Gerald immediately knew that they could not touch anything here. After all, triggering a trap in such a famous tomb would definitely spell their doom.

As he thought that, the corner of Gerald's eyes suddenly caught a glimpse of the familiar symbol in the golden coffin. Where he's seen it before.

Looking at Gerald's raised eyebrows, Rey inevitably asked,

"What. is something wrong, Mr Crawford.? Did you find anything.?"

"...See that symbol over there? I feel like I've seen it somewhere before."

Gerald murmured as he continued flipping through his memories. Moments later, he suddenly shouted,

"I remember now!"

After which, Gerald took out a map before quickly scanning it. Raising an eyebrow slightly, Rey then inched closer to look at the map as well.

And when he finally realizes that the exact symbol - in the coffin - can be found on the map, Rey immediately exclaims,

"...Oh, my God, is that... In that case, instead of chasing after the treasure, Tye tried to search for this tomb all along.?!"

"I think so too!"

Gerald replied with a nod, finally one hundred percent convinced that Tye was not okay. But what is he planning..?

As Gerald wondered about it, Tye and her men finally made it to Moonbeam Village. Although Gerald pityes them and lets them live, Tye will not give up on her cause.

However, without a map, Tye and her men have remained lost in the mountain forest for centuries. Regardless, while trying to set foot into the village, Stanton - who happened to see them - immediately rushed over before asking, Stanton said,

"And who are you all?"

As more and more villagers ran to stand behind Stanton, they knew why he was so wary. Anyway, Tye and her men look very suspicious.

Raising his eyebrows slightly, Tye then glared at the old man before replying in an annoyed tone,

"That's not important. Anyway, did you recently come across three people dressed like us?"

Stanton is not a fool. From Tye's expression alone, she already knew that the man was not a good person. With that, he simply shook his head as he replied,

"...Unfortunately no! It has been a long time since anyone from the outside world came to our village! Speaking of the outside world, how did you all get here?"

After hearing that, Tye narrowed her eyes towards the chief, wondering if the old man was telling the truth.

Unfortunately, at that moment, a young woman came running towards Stanton while shouting,

"Food is ready, chief! Have the three wise men returned?"

While Stanton was shocked to hear the statement, Tye and her men immediately frowned.

Now fully aware that Stanton had lied to them, Tye then shouted,

"How dare you lie to me, old man!"

Stanton himself was at a loss for words. The young lady had actually arrived at the worst possible time.

Seeing Stanton not interested in retaliating, Tye then gripped the old man's collar before roaring,

"Enough game! Where are the three of them!"

It is clear now that Tye's hatred for Gerald goes beyond words. Tye herself had even vowed not to show mercy to Gerald when they hit her again.

Whatever the case may be, Stanton is barely even daunted by Tye's attempts to intimidate her. Instead, the old man simply replied,

"How do I know? They just left without telling us where they were headed!"

"Are you honestly still lying to me? Don't blame me for being cruel then!"

Tye pouted with a snort, her premonition telling her that Gerald and his group knew Stanton well. After all, why else would the old man lie about something like this?

After that, Tye ordered her men to gather all the villagers. After finishing, Tye also instructed them to tie Stanton to the pillar at the village entrance.

"I'll ask you one last time.. Tell me where they're going!"

Shouted Tye, believing that the old man would finally reveal the matter now.

"I told you, I don't know!"
