Chapters 2016.

Kay herself could not help but frown after hearing that. After thinking about it for a while, he then walked towards the king and queen who were sitting on their thrones.

After whispering something to them, he then returned to his original place before stating,

"Your Majesty has decided that this is an unregulated criminal behavior! With that, an investigation will be conducted soon! Since we've already covered this topic, do you know who sent the assassins, Miss Juans?"

Nodding in response, Yalinda then replied,

"Yes! Your Honor, it was Clyde Gower who planned the murder last night!"

As soon as he said that, everyone instantly became dumbfounded.

Realizing that Kay was now looking at him, Clyde then stood up before roaring,

"Omong empty!"

"Or so you say, Young Master Gower! I'm sure you know who the real person is saying nonsense here! If you don't know, we managed to catch the assassins, and they are currently right outside the city gates! With that in mind, I request that they be allowed to enter to face their young master!"

Yalinda replied with a cold smile on her face.

"Izin given!" Said Kay.

A few minutes later, Tanner and Yale led the four assassins into the arena with the help of some soldiers.

"This is the Gower family's killer, General Lucarl!"

Yalinda said as she pointed to the four men who were tied up.

Seeing that they were now here, Kay waited for a moment before raising a slight eyebrow. Walking up to them, he realized that they were all completely paralyzed, unable to even blink! With that, Kay was compelled to ask, though,

"What's wrong with them? Why are they all so stiff?"

Upon hearing that, Gerald quickly walked towards his four and began to pierce their chakra points to unseal their bodies. Once completed, they can freely move again.

Nodding at the sight of that, Kay then said,

"alright. Now that you're not paralyzed anymore.. Is what he said true?"

Naturally, none of them could say a word. After all, their mouths remained tightly closed.

Realizing that Kay was expecting a verbal answer, Yalinda quickly explained,

"General Lucarl, their mouths have been sewn so that they cannot speak!"

"What's? They're all mute?" Kay replied in surprise.

Understanding that this was his chance to avoid the consequences, Clyde then retaliated,

"Well! If they can't talk, why are you blaming me?! As you can see, General Lucarl, he's obviously spouting nonsense!"

"Even though they couldn't speak, they could still shake their heads and nod!"

Yalinda rebutted, instantly silencing Clyde again. He's not considering that!

"Nod if it's true, and shake your head if it's not. Did Clyde Gower send you to attack them?"

Kay asked as she glared at the assassins.

After a short pause, the four assassins finally shook their heads! Upon seeing that, Yalinda rightfully got angry as she growled,

"You.!"

Realizing that he still had a chance to get out of this situation, a sly smile appeared on Clyde's face. After which, he pretended to be annoyed as he said,

"You know what, General Lucarl? I am innocent! Please clear my name, general!"

With the current turn of events, Gerald was now wondering if he should have let Yalinda do the talking. After all, even though the assassins were mute, they were not stupid at all.

They probably thought that Gerald would not be able to do anything to them in the presence of so many people. By choosing to lie, not only Clyde's life will be saved, but their lives too!

Whatever the case, Kay then cleared her throat before asking sternly,

"Once again, just to be sure. Is it true that Clyde didn't send you?"

Looking at the four then nodding again, Kay added,

"alright. We will rule out this matter for now. The guard! Lock them up immediately! We'll look further into this after the competition is over!"

Of course not willing to take it for granted, Yalinda then said,

"But General Lucrl-"

Before he could even finish his sentence General Lucarl? just raise his hand before answering,

"Once again, let's put this matter aside for now. Not only had they said that Young Master Gower was not the person behind this, but the incident had also happened outside of Gardale City. With that in mind, we are not responsible for handling the case. Therefore, we will talk about this after the competition ends!"

As soon as Kay turned to leave, Clyde approached Yalinda before laughing sinisterly as she sneered,

"Heh, do you really think you can trap me that easily, Yalinda?"

Hearing that, Yalinda immediately glared at the despicable man while returning to her seat. To think that the assassins would retract their confessions at the last second!

While he was extremely angry at her, he knew better than to waste his energy with a feeling of anger. After all, as Kay had said, nothing would be investigated until the competition was over.

"Let her, Yalinda! Come back now!"

Gerald exclaimed, prompting Yalinda to return to her seat helplessly.

As soon as she sat down beside Gerald again, Yalinda could not help but grumble,

"...Think that Clyde has planned so far...!"

Instead of sharing Yalinda's dissatisfaction, Gerald simply laughed coldly in response as he said,

"It's okay, we'll just accept this as our loss for now. However, know that I still have other ways to deal with it!"

As Gerald said, even though they failed to immediately take down Clyde, it did not mean that they automatically lost. As Clyde now draws all his winning cards, Gerald will do the same..

After all, the match for that day was soon over. While the match was still going on early, Gerald had plenty of time to think about his next move.

In the end, he thought that since the semifinals would be held in the next two days, Clyde would definitely use that time to cause more trouble for him. Therefore, Gerald decided that he would finish off Clyde within the next two days.
