Gerald Crawford, The Invisible Rich Man

Gerald Crawford, The Invisible Rich Man
Chapter 1840-1841

Chapters 1840.

"Bates."

The old man only told them his surname.

"It's nice to meet you, Mr. Bates. I'm Gerald Crawford. Thank you for letting us stay here tonight!"

Gerald quickly greeted the old man and thanked him.

"What are you doing here?"

Mr. Bates looked at the four of them and asked.

Gerald and the other three were startled by his question.

"Hehe. Mr. Bates, we came here just for a leisurely ride, but we got lost."

Gerald explained to Mr. Bates with a smile.

"Free time? Young man, you must think me stupid."

Mr. Bates doubted his words and rebuked Gerald.

Now, Gerald and the three of them were even more shocked. They didn't expect that Mr. Bates really knew that they were hiding something.

"Mr. Bates, why are you..."

Gerald asked, pretending to look at Mr. Bates was doubtful.

"Young man, I've lived half of my life. You can't lie to me. You're not here to relax. You are here to search the territory of the Phangrottom Clan!"

Furthermore, Mr. Bates stated their purpose of coming here openly.

"What?!"

Their faces immediately changed, showing a huge shock.

"Mr. Bates, how do you know that?"

Gerald asked curiously. Although Mr. Bates knew their purpose in coming here, Gerald did not feel any animosity from him.

"Hehe. This place is not a tourist attraction. People come here just for one thing, and that is to search the territory of the Phangrottom Clan."

Mr. Bates told them frankly.

Gerald and his friends were dumbfounded. They never thought that Mr. Bates would be so observant.

"Because you have found it, I will not hide it from you anymore. Exactly right. We're here to find the Phangrottom Clan territory!"

Gerald didn't hide it anymore and admitted it openly. There is no point in hiding and arguing if your secret has already been discovered.

"Young man, the territory of the Phangrottom Clan is not a place that anyone can visit. I'm suggesting you go back to your place."

Mr. Bates kindly reminded them. They were a little surprised when they heard that.

"Why did you say that?"

Gerald asked doubtfully.

"Hehe. There are many people like you who have come here to search for the territory of the Phangrottom Clan. But in the end, no one came back alive. So, I'm saying this for your sake."

Mr. Bates smiled as he reminded them again.

"Mr. Bates, we're not ordinary people. Besides, we came up with a mission to save the world."

Gerald explained to Mr. Bates.

"Ha! Ha! Ha!"

Hearing Gerald's words, Mr. Bates burst into laughter, and his laughter was full of ridicule.

"Young man, don't say such a thing. Those who came here also said that. But what good is that? They're still dead here in the end."

Bates uttered, completely ignoring what Gerald was saying.

From what he said, it seemed like Mr. Bates had met a lot of people. In addition, their deaths may be related to him.

This was a deep old forest, and he lived here alone. This alone was already very strange and unbelievable.

"Mr. Bates, do you know the location of the Phangrottom Clan's territory?"

After a pause, Gerald looked at Mr. Bates and asked. After being asked that question, Mr. Bates raised his head and looked at Gerald. After staring at each other for a few seconds, Mr. Bates opened his mouth.

Hearing his words, Gerald did not press him any further.

However, Gerald was able to see that Mr. Bates might know the location of the Phangrottom Clan territory. He just refused to tell them.

Chapters 1841.

"I appreciate that reminder, Mr. Bates, but we still have an important mission to complete. Because the sooner we find the territory of the Phangrottom Clan, the better, we will only spend the night! We'll be gone by dawn!"

Gerald replied in a haphazard tone while looking at Mr. Bates.

After hearing that, Mr. Bates did not say anything. Even so, if one paid attention to his reaction, they would be able to see his face twitch slightly in response.

It was late at night before Gerald and his entourage finally decided to go to sleep.

To ensure that they would not be attacked secretly at night, Gerald suggested that the four of them take turns keeping watch.

After agreeing, Gerald was chosen first to stay on guard while the others headed for the bed.

Fortunately, even after her shift ended and she swapped places with Rey, not much happened all night.

The group of four woke up early the next morning and immediately started packing. Gerald himself walked to the door to check how things were going outside.

To his surprise, he was immediately greeted by the sight of Lord Bates standing right in front of their door!

Clearly not expecting to meet Mr. Bates in such a way, the wide-eyed Gerald then looked at the calm-looking man for a moment before asking,

"...Is.there anything I can help you with, Mr. Bates.?"

"Tell me, are you really sure you want to look for the territory of the Phangrottom Clan? Is there no way to stop you?"

Ask Mr. Bates in a serious tone.

Upon hearing that, Gerald quickly dispelled his shock before nodding and resolutely replied,

"Indeed, Mr. Bates. We really need to go!"

"All right then. Since you are so adamant, I'll take you there. However, I must remind you that in the end, everything depends on your fate!"

Said Mr. Bates, surprising Gerald once again.

Gerald, for example, did not expect Mr. Bates' attitude to change so quickly. After all, the man had been trying his hardest to dissuade them from searching the Phangrottom Clan territory for most of the night.

To think that he was now willing to lead them there!

Still, as Gerald thought, Mr. Bates knew where the Phangrottom Clan territory was.

With that in mind, Gerald is driven to wonder if the death of the previous party trying to find the place has anything to do with Mr. Bates.

Regardless, Gerald's thought came to a halt when he heard Mr. Bates say,

"Don't waste any more time. Hurry up and pack up!"

Seeing Mr. Bates then turn around to leave, Gerald himself quickly ordered the rest of his entourage to speed up their packing.

Shortly after, everyone was ready to leave, and they began to follow Mr. Bates into the depths of the mountains.

Not a word was spoken throughout the journey, so Gerald finally took the initiative to break the silence by saying,

"So. Why change your heart, Mr Bates?"

"Let's just say you're different from the previous group!"

Replied Mr. Bates in a calm tone.

"...Different in what way, Mr. Bates.?"

Gerald asked in a curious tone.

"Well! The previous party who had come looking for the clan was only interested in robbing the tomb! With how blinded by their greed, it was extremely impossible for them to find the Phangrottom Clan from the very beginning! They're just dying it makes sense!"

Mr. Bates replied in a calm tone, as if he was unaffected by their deaths.

The more curious now, Gerald then asked,

"...How they died, Mr. Bates."

"Hm? I killed them of course," replied Mr. Bates.

As soon as he heard that, Gerald's expression instantly darkened. To think that Mr. Bates would admit to something like this just like that.!
