Gerald Crawford, The Invisible Rich Man
Chapters 1875-1877

Chapters 1875.

Now that the case is over and they are still awake, Gerald and Rey return home to take Juno and Yrsa to dinner.

Towards the local night market, the four of them found a nice stall and sat there. After sitting down, Rey could only exclaim, saying,

"Wow! To think that there would be such a place in the city!"

Rey, for example, had never come to a place like this before, so she barely knew that a location like this existed in the first place.

"...Whahuh? Didn't you study here? How could you spend your years at this University without finding out about this place? Your university life is completely wasted!" Canda Gerald before laughing.

Chuckling coyly, Rey then scratched the back of her head in slight embarrassment before replying, Rey then,

"Stay, it just shows that I work more and play less!"

Although Rey subconsciously praised herself, the three simply rolled their eyes in response. None of them can win against Rey in terms of narcissism!

At that moment, the stall owner walked over with the menu, a smile on his face as he said,

"Welcome, welcome! There are discounts for everything today, so make sure you choose whatever you like!"

Hearing that, Rey immediately exclaimed,

"really? Then I ordered a lot, brother Gerald! Besides, I'm not paying the bill!"

Watching Rey then laugh before picking up the menu, Gerald simply shook his head at his childish student.

It's not like Gerald really thought about it. After all, he had plenty of money to spare, so treating his party was no big deal to him.

Meanwhile, by the time the food - which Rey ordered - came in ten minutes later, the number was staggering!

"...You... ordered a lot, Rey! Can we finish all this?"

Juno asked as she looked at the boy.

"Don't underestimate the power of my meal, Miss Zorn!" Rey replied while patting her chest.

Unsure how to respond, Juno simply shook her head, hoping that she meant what she had just said.

With that, the four of them began to eat their food. Seeing how quickly Rey was devouring her food, Gerald couldn't help but laugh as he said,

"Rey, the food's not going anywhere! Why do you eat like you haven't eaten in a hundred years? Are you a hungry ghost or something?"

Staring at Gerald with his cheeks still filled with food, Rey then chewed a little before replying,

"How else, Brother Gerald! We haven't eaten all day, you know?"

Sighing while shaking his head, Gerald then said,

"You don't care at all about your image, do you, Rey?"

While some may take that as an insult, it is a compliment in Gerald's book.

Basically, he says that Rey is not a pretentious person, and people like that are very sociable.

Whatever the case, after eating for longer, Juno inevitably asked,

"By the way.. What's our next plan, Gerald?"

Now that there were no further distractions and they were mostly done with their meals, it was time to discuss things more seriously.

"Well, I'm thinking of starting a new office in a new place. If everything works out, we will have our own company dealing with psychic issues. That way, people will know where to find us if they have a problem regarding such things" Gerald replied.

After solving today's mystery, Gerald thought about how the Supreme Council had only dealt with human-to-human issues until recently.

If he sets up a company that specializes in dealing with psychics, those seeking help will be able to get the real results rather than having an investigator who knows nothing.

What's more, with the gate to the ghost world now open, more incidents like this are bound to happen, further prompting Gerald to think about the idea seriously.

Either way, after listening to Gerald's suggestion, the three immediately nodded without the slightest hesitation.

"I think that's a good idea, Gerald!" Juno said while looking at him.

"I'm glad you think so. By the way, Rey, Yrsa. You both should immediately begin your formal training! Juno and I will train you separately, and once you are ready, we will start sending you to fight in real battles. With that in mind, you two better prepare yourself mentally!" Gerald.

After hearing that, the two disciples exchanged glances before nodding slightly. Rey herself had a stern expression on her face as she replied,

"Understand me, brother Gerald! We won't let you down!"

Honestly, Rey had been waiting for this moment for a long time. After all, he was rather interested in learning about the many ways to properly deal with ghosts.

While it was true that she ended up being a little frightened earlier, - as this was the first time she had actually seen an evil spirit -, she had to admit that the experience was worth it.

After all, as the four of them continued to chat as they finished eating, a loud impact sound that was close enough immediately caught their attention.

Turning towards the source of the sound, the group saw a rather terrifying looking gang armed with wooden batons slowly walking towards them.

As they slowly walked forward, the hooligans made sure to damage all the stalls around them with their sticks!

Of course, the sight instantly made Gerald and his group members frown. To think they would meet such a situation while eating!

The stall owner himself had already packed his wares, looking extremely anxious.

"Huh? Have you closed? But we haven't even finished eating!"

"Listen, just go while you can! Don't worry about paying! Think of it as my gift!"

The shop owner replied in a hasty tone after finishing packing and prepared to push his cart away.

"Who are those people...? And why are you so afraid of them?"

Ask Gerald next.

Although he clearly knew that they were gang members, he wanted more details about them.

Sighing in response, the stall owner quickly replied,

"They're from the Hoklux gang, and they're running illegal protection rackets around here! I can't say more than that, so please, let me and my daughter go!"

Just as he was about to continue pushing his wagon, an angry shout was heard saying,

"Stop him!"

After which, several gang members quickly rushed forward to block his path.

Surrounded by bat-wielding people, the stall owner and his daughter could not even go any further!

Shortly after, a scar-faced man walked up to the woman before sneering, saying,

"Plan to go somewhere, boss?"

"...Brother, we are just running a small business...! We really don't have the money to give you...!"

Answer the shop owner with a resigned tone.

"Cut cr*p!"

The injured man eyed before slapping his cheek!

Because of how hard he hit her, the woman ended up staggered two steps back before having to lean on her wagon to prop herself up...

"Mother!"

Shouted the woman's daughter while immediately running towards her to help her up. After which, he glared at the injured man before shouting,

"You really are b*stard...! To think that you dare to hit a woman!"

"Hm? This your daughter, boss? She's pretty!"

The injured man's chuckle, an evil smile on his face as he walked over to the stall owner's daughter before pulling her to his side!

"Let go of me, b*stard...! What are you planning?!"

Shouted the poor girl as she tried to escape her clutches. Unfortunately, he was too weak to get a response from her..

After all, after seeing that he had no plans of releasing his daughter, the now teary-eyed stall owner quickly pulled his daughter back!

As soon as the girl was behind him, the stall owner turned to face the scarred man before pleading,

"Please, Brother.! Just leave him...! I'll give you some money...!"

Smiling even more wickedly after hearing that, the injured man then replied,

"Well! I don't want your money anymore! Instead, why didn't you and your daughter follow me and become my servants? I'll make sure you have a comfortable life! How's it?"

It was clear that this despicable man preferred women over money, and he was now paying attention to the stall owner and his daughter...

Understandably frightened after hearing that, both of them knew that they would not be able to avoid trouble tonight...

Not wanting her virgin daughter's future to be destroyed by her, the stall owner finally proposes,

"...Brother, how about this... Let my daughter and I follow you..!"

"What's? You dare to bargain with meuu?! Because you're so stupid, man! Take them!"

Shouted the injured man furiously.

Because they dared to fight him, - despite the fact that he was 'polite' enough to ask-, he was no longer opposed to the use of violence!

Whatever the case, upon hearing his orders, his subordinates immediately rushed forward and started dragging the stall owner and his daughter away!

While there were still people around, none of them dared to enter. After all, no one wanted trouble with these hooligans...

Suddenly, a masculine voice cried out,

"Stop right there!"

Surprised, everyone turned to look at the source of the voice... And standing there pointing at the wounded man, was Rey!

Staring at the young man, the injured man then sneered,

"Huh? Who the hell are you? Look, just finish your meal and don't be a busy person, kid!"

"I'd rather be a busy person than be a ba*ass like you! Thinking there would be a man on the planet who would dare bully two innocent women with his hooligans!" Rey Ejek.

Back then, Gerald, Yrsa, and Juno could only stare at Rey with wide eyes. After all, none of them expected him, out of everyone, to face those gangsters...
