Gerald Crawford, The Invisible Rich Man

Gerald Crawford, The Invisible Rich Man
Chapter 1903-1904

Chapters 1903.

Hearing Gerald's orders, Rey and Yann immediately run away from the scene. Shit for them, their sudden movements only made the monster even more excited!

Realizing that the monster was after him, Rey started to run faster while shouting,

"Please stop chasing me."

As expected, all those shouts only caused the beast to increase its speed as it continued to dart towards Rey!

Realizing that the monster was now several inches away from Rey, Gerald quickly summoned the Astrabyss Sword before throwing it towards the beast!

The moment the sword broke through the monster's flesh, the beast let out a great roar of pain!

After which, he turned to look at Gerald before next attacking him.!

Regardless of how terrifying it was, Gerald remained calm and summoned the sword back into his hands.

Once the monster was only a few steps away from him, Gerald - who had positioned himself to attack - now dashed towards him as well!

Ducking right in front of the monster, Gerald managed to enter right below it and saw the perfect opportunity. Gerald then raised his sword, causing the monster to completely swallow itself as its open belly pierced through the sword!

With blood gushing everywhere, the monster released one final roar before plopping down into its own pool of blood.

Seeing Gerald manage to knock him down, Rey and Yann immediately heaved a sigh of relief.

Quickly returning to Gerald's side, Rey immediately asked in a worried tone,

"A-are you okay, Mr. Crawford...?"

Putting away his sword, Gerald then turned to face Rey before replying,

"I'm fine!"

Although neither of them said it, they were both relieved that Gerald was with them. Otherwise, they would definitely end up as monster food!

Thinking back, their bones would probably end up in the river as well. Expelling the frightening thought, Rey then looked at the carcass before muttering,

"...What the fuck is that beast..? Although I want to call it a tiger, it's not a tiger either!"

After giving the monster a better look, the three noticed that the monstrous beast had two long and thin fangs in its mouth.

Although it slightly resembled a tiger, everyone knew that was not the case.

"...You know, it looks like Taotie doesn't it? That mythological monster? But it's just bullshit. There's no way that exists, right.?"

Yann said after observing it for longer.

Hearing that, Rey seemed to want to say something. However, Gerald beat him up and replied,

"And why not? After all, if ghosts can exist, why not Tao?"

Hearing Gerald's statement, Rey could only nod. After all, since ghosts exist, almost anything else can exist.

At that moment, a group of plain-clothed people suddenly rushed out of the forest and surrounded the three!

While they initially continued to stare intently at Gerald and his entourage, upon seeing the dead Taotie on the ground, they immediately looked surprised before looking back at the three men with frightened eyes...

It was almost as if they were looking at a strange beast...

Regardless, that group of people was not the only ones who were shocked. The three were shocked as well when they realized that everyone was wearing traditional clothes.

In fact, 'ancient' is probably a better word. Despite a brief silence, an old man - holding a cane - immediately walked out of the crowd.

While looking at the fresh carcass, the old man then asked,

"...If I may, where are you from, gentlemen.?"

Stunned when he heard the puzzled old man's question, Gerald then replied,

"...Well, we came from the other side of the mountain. Earlier, could you tell us where we were and what kind of monster this was.?"

"...Ah, so... Well, that monster is called Taotie. Before you killed him, the monster lived deep in the mountains and was known to be extremely ferocious!" Answer the old man.

Upon hearing that, Gerald and his group exchanged glances. As Yann had previously guessed, the creature turned out to be truly a Taotie.

"Maybe I misheard, but you said the three of you came from the other side of the mountain...?"

Added the old man, his tone hinted at his disbelief.

As the three of them nodded in response, Gerald replied,

"You didn't hear wrong!"

Seeing that the people from the crowd immediately started discussing that fact, Rey could only raise a few eyebrows when she asked, saying,

"...Is.there any reason why you all sound so surprised..?"

Hearing the question, the old man quickly explained,

"yeah. You know, no one can ever come to this side of the mountain. After all, there was a trap there that hypnotically ensnared anyone who tried to come! With that said, how could you all manage to make it whole.?"

It was clear that the old man was referring to the jade board in the hypnotic cave from before. Whatever the case, Gerald simply smiled subtly before replying,

"Let's just say we're not too sure about that right now, sir."

"Well, if you manage to achieve such an incredible feat without paying attention to it, it won't be difficult to call the three of you sages! Since you are already here, come to our village! Let us pamper you for successfully reaching this side of the mountain!"

Said the old man in a carefree tone.

Seeing no harm, Gerald and his entourage then followed the old man - and the crowd - back to their village.

Upon arriving, the trio noticed that the village looked exactly like it could be found in the history books.

They also come to know that the people here live a life where they get up early to work and go home as soon as the sun goes down.

From those two facts alone, it became clear that the people here had been living completely separate from the outside world for many years.

"...Tell me, do you think we can time travel, Mr. Crawford.?"

Whisper Rey along the way, thinking everything here is too strange to have right now.

"No. I'm sure this place is just a utopia that emerged from the beginning cut off from the other world." Answer Gerald.

After all, if they had really been time-traveling, then their phones would not have any more signals!

To be honest that's the main reason Gerald believes Rey's hypothesis is wrong. However, after hearing what Gerald said, Rey inevitably agreed.

By the time they reached the old man's house, the entire village was already overwhelmed with news of the arrival of outsiders.

After all, none of them had ever met people from the other side of the mountain before!

Once they were inside, Gerald immediately asked,

"Pig-by the way... How should we call you, Sir.?"

"Ah, alright, I am using Stanton Lingard, and I am the head of this village! If you are wondering, this place is called Moonbeam Village!"

Stanton replied as Gerald, Rey, and Yann nodded in understanding.

"It's nice to meet you, Chief Lingard! Why is it called Moonbeam.?"
