Chapters 1844.
The city was known as Phantom City, and it was a city made especially for ghosts and spirits. From where they stand, Gerald and Rey can see that everything in the city looks ancient.
The two can also see some ghost peddlers - whose appearances vary - scattered all over the place that looks like a market in the city.
Understanding that most of the spirit world would look like this, the two decided to hurry up and start walking towards the entrance of the city.
However, upon reaching the city gate, their entrance was immediately blocked by a pale-faced man wearing a long black robe.
Staring at the two with his blue eyes, the black-robed man declared,
"You two are not included here. Go!"
"Before that. Who exactly are you.?" Ask Gerald.
"I use Phanto, and I'm a ghost officer in this place!"
Introducing Phanto, which greatly surprised Gerald and Rey.
To think that the ghost officer was in the first place! It was almost like they were in some television drama or something!
After a short pause, Gerald smiled faintly before replying,
"We just passed this place, and we're not here to cause trouble, sir. With that in mind, allow us to pass through!"
As this was not his usual territory, Gerald knew that he had to refrain from acting rashly. At the very least, he should remain polite.
However, if a similar scene were to occur in the real world, Gerald would have already moved on whatever dared to stand in his way. It was as if he would have time to waste with politeness!
"Listen, I need permission to let you in! If you don't have it, don't ever dream of getting in!"
Phanto replied with a firm voice.
"Izin passed..? How do we get it?" Ask Gerald.
Hearing that, Phanto then pointed to a tall tower that was emitting a deep blue light, - which was honestly not too far away - before explaining,
"You can get it by passing the test there. Once you've completed it, you'll receive your Graduation Permit!"
"Thank you for sharing!"
Gerald replied as he began walking towards the tower with Rey.
As it turned out, entering the most feminine place would not be as easy as they had expected. Since Gerald couldn't think of any other way to enter and he would rather settle this matter without using force, the only way to progress was to pass that test.
At least he wouldn't offend any of them, the locals.
In any case, they soon discovered that the tall tower gate had been locked tightly.
Even so, they knew that there were people inside because the interior was constantly shining in a familiar blue hue.
With that in mind, Gerald was just about to knock on the door when it arrived, it opened! Before Gerald could react, a cold and gloomy voice rang out from within, shouting, and shouting,
"Lake in!"
Hearing that, Gerald was the first to enter. However, just as Rey was about to follow, the gate suddenly slammed shut behind Gerald!
"...H-yeah? What happened, Mr. Crawford...?" Ask Rey for wonder.
"One person at a time!"
Shouts the same voice from before.
Understanding that this was just the rule in this place, the desperate Rey could only sit on one of the many steps of the tower while waiting for Gerald to return.
Gerald himself soon found a white-haired man wearing a long gray robe.
"Hm. I can see that you are half human and half ghost!"
The robed man said as he stared at Gerald from head to toe.
Naturally, for a moment this shocked Gerald. To think that this person would be able to figure it out so easily!
"...And you.?" Ask Gerald.
"I used Torme, and I was a ghost messenger in the most feminine of places. In simpler terms, I am responsible for interacting with outsiders. That's the reason why I can easily discern your origins, "Torme explained.
"...I'm seeing. Nice to meet you, sir. I'm using Gerald Crawford, and as you say, I'm half human and a ghost. However, notice that I am also a cultivator!"
Gerald replied, not feeling the need to hide that fact.
"That would explain why there is such a huge cocktail of spiritblades and holy spirits inside your body. Still, the spiritblade you have is truly astounding. If this continues, something will definitely happen to you!"
Torme said only with good intentions.
Of course, Gerald knew for sure that Torme was talking about the Astrabys Sword that was on him. Choosing to ignore the topic, Gerald later stated,
"Whatever the case may be, I'm here to get a pass permit, sir!"
"So apparently. I assume you're trying to head to the Phangrottom Clan territory, right?
Torme asked as he looked at the young man.
"Indeed!"
Gerald replied with a nod.
"I'm assuming you know that you have to pass the test before you can get permission?"
Torme said as he continued to stare at the young man.
"I knew. That's why I came here from the beginning!"
Gerald replied in a firm voice.
"All right then. Are you ready?" Ask Torme.
"Ready as usual!" Gerald said without the slightest hesitation.
The second Gerald sentence ends, however, Torme seems to disappear when Gerald's surroundings instantly go dark!
While ordinary people would definitely feel that darkness was arrogant, Gerald was no ordinary person.
Standing quietly on the spot, not long after a stone door appeared before Gerald.
"This will lead to the first stage of your test" Torme said from within the darkness.
Hearing that, Gerald then turned the doorknob around, and upon opening the door, he was greeted by an astonishing sight.
Before him, the nearly endless people were killing each other! The fact that the individuals looked like they were from different time periods only made Gerald even more confused.
"From then until now, war has never changed. Murder and death are connected. Apart from that, here are three options. Based on what you see right now, would you choose to let all the criminals die? Or maybe you would rather let all the good people here have a chance to reincarnate. There is also the option to let fate decide. Which one?"
Ask Torme's disembodied voice.
Upon hearing that, Gerald began to ponder on it. While the test may seem easy, Gerald knew that it was just a cover. After all, how could the test of human nature be that simple?
After all, Gerald knew that those three choices weren't too bad. The question is, what is the correct answer? He really did not want to fail the first test.
