Chapter 1913-1914

"It's okay if you don't get it. Whatever the case may be, I will be having an out of body experience now to check if my theory is correct! With that said, make sure to take good care of my body for a while!" Gerald.

"Understand me, Mr Crawford! Be careful!"

Rey replied as Gerald nodded before lying down.

Shortly after, his ghostly form came out of his body before diving down! Continuing to dive deeper and deeper, Gerald finally found the source of their suffering.

True to Gerald's guess, there really was a giant mechanism beneath them all along!

After the mystery is solved, Gerald knows that, in order for them to escape this hellish circle, they need to make a leap of faith after finding a certain number on the ladder.

Otherwise, they could just end up with the rest of their lives on this ladder. After all, now that he had learned all of this, Gerald darted back to his physical body, and after re-entering, he immediately shouted,

"Bingo!"

Since Gerald came back all of a sudden, it frightened Rey! As soon as the young man finally calmed down, he could only stare at Gerald helplessly as he muttered between his pants,

"Jeez, Mr. Crawford.! You almost gave me a heart attack...! Don't yell so suddenly.!"

To be fair, being alone in such darkness would make anyone feel extremely frightened.

While Gerald was momentarily dumbfounded by Rey's reaction, he quickly flinched before saying,

"...Understood it! By the way, look, I think I've found a way to get out of this place!"

"...H-yeah? Really true? Then what are we waiting for, Mr Crawford? Lead!"

Rey replied, instantly forgetting her half-dead fear just a few seconds before.

After all, Rey's priority was to leave this place as soon as possible because she felt that she would go crazy due to anxiety if she were to stay in this place any longer.

Nodding in agreement, Gerald then began to lead Rey down the stairs again. And finally, he found the right place for them.

Seeing they had stopped, the confused Rey could not help but ask,

"...Um. Mr Crawford..? Didn't you say we were going.? We've been down the stairs long enough now."

Hearing that, Gerald turned to face Rey before saying,

"Here we go. We jumped down from here!"

"...H-huh?!"

Rey replied as her jaw dropped straight down, unsure if she had not misheard.

Upon seeing how determined Gerald was to follow that nod, the worried Rey immediately replied in a frightened tone,

"Please don't joke about this, Mr. Crawfor. We can't even see the basics from here! We're gonna die!"

After saying that, Rey could only gulp as she stared down.. The longer he stared at the abyss, the more frightened he became.

Gerald himself simply raised his eyebrows as he said,

"...Rey, do you think I'd joke about something like this?"

While Rey is certain Gerald won't do it, her master's order to jump into the abyss is utterly mind-boggling.

Seeing how ragged Rey was, Gerald could only sigh as he added,

"...All right, I'll jump first. However, if I end up dying, good luck thinking of another way to go!"

For a moment dumbfounded by Gerald's absurd suggestion, Rey could only stare with wide eyes as Gerald jumped off the stairs without waiting for his answer!

While Rey is left in a panic, Gerald himself has landed safely on top of another staircase.

As he thought, the trick to getting out of that circle was to jump off the ladder with a certain number!

However, Rey does not realize that Gerald is still alive. With that in mind, it was no wonder that he immediately started calling,

Hearing how worried the boy would be for his safety, Gerald couldn't help but smile as he looked up while shouting,

"Wait for what else, Rey? Just jump!"

Hearing Gerald's reply, Rey was immediately overjoyed. After all, not only is Gerald still alive, but he seems to have managed to find a way to escape from this circle of hell!

Now that he knew this, Rey gathered her courage... Before jumping and plunging straight into the abyss!

Immediately screaming as he fell, his overwhelming fear soon turned to be flustered when he realized that his feet were already on the ground. The fall took even a second!

"Do you really need to yell that loud."

Gerald grumbled that his ears were now throbbing due to Rey's loud voice. While Gerald was left annoyed, Rey herself was overjoyed - that she was still alive - until she immediately exclaimed, Rey herself,

"I-i'm alive! And to think that the jump is not too long! We're finally free of that ladder, Mr. Crawford."

Shaking his head helplessly at how childish his students were, Gerald simply patted his back before starting to walk towards the light in front of them.

Now realizing that the exit had been this close all along, Rey's eyes widened as she called out,

"Wait for me, Mr Crawford!"

Quickly chasing after Gerald, the two immediately passed through the shining exit. What awaits them is surprising.

Behind the exit, lay a worn-out place that looked very broken. Gazing at the nearly endless towering pillars surrounding them, Rey could not help but exclaim in awe,

"H-waste cr*p! To think that such a place is here.! Everything here looks old!"

Although Gerald did not say anything, he had the same feeling. After all, who would not be amazed and shocked to find the ancient ruins all of a sudden.

However, the first Gerald broke the silence by saying,

"...Come on, let's have a look!"

Nodding in agreement, Rey then begins exploring an amazing place with Gerald.

However, they only took a few steps forward when the two stopped dead in their tracks.

A strange skittering sound seemed to quickly approach them, and they were able to immediately find out that something was amiss. Is that a danger..?

"...What, what is that, Mr. Crawford..?"

Rey whispered while leaning closer to Gerald.

Instead of answering with a guess, Gerald simply chose to slowly turn around, prompting Rey to do the same.

And as soon as they saw what was going to happen to them, Rey's eyes instantly widened. Apparently, the voice came from a horde of giant scorpions!

"S-holy cr*p! Why is the scorpion so big?!

Rey's stuttering is trembling.

"Shut up! And stop moving so much!"

Gerald's orders in a calm tone.

Although this was the first time he had seen such a large scorpion, he was not at all afraid of them.

After all, he had already seen all kinds of terrifying ghosts, so how frightening was the scorpion to him?

Although Gerald was not intimidated by the giant scorpion, Rey was not. He was completely frozen in fear when he saw the scorpions quickly surrounding them.

Swinging their pointed sting from time to time, it seemed ready to attack them at any time.

The sting of the little scorpion was already quite venomous, so Rey didn't even want to imagine how powerful this huge scorpion sting was.

In fact, from how large and sharp the sting was, one would probably die just from the prick.
