Ch. 71 – Burning Fire

Spirit Beasts were one type of Beast that were very rarely seen, as they did not like to interact with humans and usually lived in places that were difficult for humans to live in.

Most people considered the Spirit Beast to be a collection of Mana that had consciousness, it was not wrong but not entirely true either.

They were creatures that had no physical body and were able to move the Mana in the air like parts of their own body.

Of course they could only use the same Mana as their own elements, such as the Water Spirit Beast who would not be able to use the Land Mana.

The ice fairy's little face showed a tense expression and the two hands she extended out seemed to start forming new chunks of ice. That magic ability and extremely expressive face showed he was already a Rank B Spirit Beast.

In the middle of the arena filled with Wind Mana like before, an Ice Spirit like Elsa would only be able to unleash the power of no more than a Rank D Beast without the help of the Mana from Adeline.

But in the current situation like this, where they were fighting in the middle of the sea of Ice Mana from Adeline's magic was another story.

With the amount of Ice Mana that could only be found on this Eternal Winter Mountain, Elsa could unleash the same power as a Rank A Beast.

Elsa raised both her hands and a ten-meter-tall chunk of ice was created on it. He swung both of his hands down and the chunk of ice shot towards Aura and Rufus swiftly.

Rufus kicked the floor hard and managed to jump out of the area of the attack.

A huge chunk of ice smashed into where the two of them stood before and broke into pieces, without successfully leaving a mark on the floor of the frozen arena.

Aura twisted her thoughts quickly over Rufus who continued to dodge Elsa's attacks, which formed a twenty-centimeter-wide hail that kept falling around the two of them.

Fighting against a Rank B Ice Spirit Beast in the middle of the sea of Ice Mana with fire magic on Rufus' body that had already started to run out of effect it was starting to look bad.

If Aura continued to wait then Adeline would manage to recover her strength and join the fight as well.

With the Mana he still had, Aura would not be able to win against those two ice magic users.

Tactics after tactics appeared and disappeared, his mind kept spinning faster and faster.

Aura closed her eyes and continued to think hard, sweat started to drench her forehead and after ten seconds of thinking in the rain of the attack, she finally opened her eyes.

What could be seen in both of his eyes was a feeling of despair.

Aura did not manage to find a way to defeat that Spirit Beast in such a short period of time. All tactics that might work take a long time to succeed, which will let Adeline recover her Mana.

Aura could not find an answer, and just as she was about to give up, a memory flashed in an instant.

A small laugh came out involuntarily from his mouth which formed a small smile all of a sudden.

The fire of spirit re-ignited in both of Aura's eyes and he started to grasp the staff in his hand heard tightly.

All the tactics and plans stopped popping into his head, leaving one question.

‘What will Brother Blaze do in this situation?’

After years of seeing and hearing her brother's story, the answer to that question immediately came up.

“Rufus!”

“Woof!”

Sensing the spirit of his Contractor, Rufus began to leap back and increase the distance between him and his opponent.

The aura had already begun to close its eyes and cast a brief spell.

A red magic circle appeared and began to spin under Rufus' feet, but Aura did not stop there and continued to flow her Mana while chanting the same incantation along with her regular swing of the staff.

A new aura opened his eyes when his entire Mana was drained away and a fifth layer appeared in that red magic circle.

Aura slid from Rufus' back and tail, then managed to set foot on the frozen floor smoothly.

The five-layered red circle under Rufus' feet spun increasingly faster and began to shine brightly.

The entire body of the huge wolf started to light up slowly and was finally enveloped by the smoldering white flames. Rufus's white fur seemed to fuse with that white flame and made it look like a giant wolf-shaped flame.

Without any plan or preparation for a follow-up attack, this was the answer Aura found. One strike with the entire Mana of the Aura and the entire physical strength of Rufus.

The rain of attacks from Elsa had already stopped when Adeline saw three layered circles under Rufus' feet. Now that he had started chanting his own magic with the help of Elsa, a blue magic circle was already spinning on the frozen floor in front of him.

Along with Rufus kicking the ice floor hard, a deep blue ice wall appeared in front of Adeline.

The Rufus that shot through the air turned into a brightly lit white fireball, which caused the spectators at the stadium to stop shivering as they felt the warmth that the white flames emitted.

He used the claws of his two front legs as spear eyes and started to spin towards that ice wall.

In an instant Rufus reached the deep blue ice wall and finally, his smoldering claws hit the defense.

The white fire spiral hit the blue ice wall and produced a violent blast wave that caused white steam to spread and filled the stadium, covering the view of the audience there.

They started to make a fuss as they could not see the result of that final exchange until suddenly, a strong wind blew from that arena and raised the white steam.

Finally they could clearly see the situation above that arena, namely...

Rufus who was lying exhausted in front of the ice wall that had already broken into pieces.

The aura had also fallen and was motionless in the middle of the arena, looking as if it was trying to stabilize its breath.

The audience there began to search for Adeline's body and found her outside the arena.

The little girl looked unconscious in Roland's arms, who caught him as she bounced out of the arena.

Isaac's voice rang out and signified the winner of the final fight of the day.

Most of the spectators there immediately began to walk out because the temperature in the air began to cool again. Looking at those who had started to disperse, Isaac and the teachers also started to leave the stadium with them.

Leinn had already walked over the arena and raised Aura who had no strength left to give her resistance. With the little girl on his shoulder, he began to walk to where Rufus was lying while turning his head in one direction.

Roland looked at her for a moment before turning around and starting to walk away from the stadium.

Twig was seen waving his tail then moving following the blonde youth with a ball of blue light that landed on his head.

Leinn shook his head then started to carry Rufus who had already shrunk on his shoulders.

With the little girl and the wolf on both shoulders, he started walking out while being followed by a wisp of water behind him.
