Humanity Return
Ch. 17 - Bets

“Aaa..!” loud screams spread in that part of the forest.

Clang clang...!

Brick swung his weapon wildly again, and his two eyes had already started to turn completely red.

Seeing that, Leinn could only show an expression of disappointment.

“No matter how much power you have, if you can't control it..”.

Leinn leapt back, making a distance of five meters between the two of them.

Brick immediately ran after him with an axe in his right hand, like he did not feel the weight of the 2-meter-high weapon.

His expression was already nothing like a human expression anymore, with full red eyes and saliva coming out of his mouth that was shouting wild sounds.

Leinn sheathed back his sword, without taking off his grasp.

“GROAAAR..!”

“...You will be nothing more than a beast”

Brick held up his huge axe as high as possible, preparing to split Leinn in half.

Leinn simply responded by humbling his horses, with his left thumb pushing out his sword.

“Clear Sky Style”

Brick's movements stopped in the middle of his swing, and Leinn had already disappeared and appeared behind him, with the same standing position before he moved.

His sword did not move from the sheath at all, and with one gentle push...

[Dawn Chorus]

Tak.

Along with the sound of the sword being sheathed, the huge axe in Brick's hand split in half and its huge body fell down smelling the ground.

He stopped moving at all.

“BOS!” a scream suddenly sounded.

Three people jumped down from a large tree branch nearby, running with all their might to the side of Brick's body.

“Quickly also you realize” said Leinn casually while walking to one of the other big trees.

Aura emerged from behind the tree and started running up to Leinn to check on her state, finding the young man completely unharmed.

He could clearly see the exchange of attacks that had occurred between Leinn and the three big man followers just a moment ago.

“Leinn...” said Aura while remembering the incident after she was lifted by Leinn behind the big tree.

Leinn had just picked up and carried him behind one of the large trees without realizing any of his four opponents.

It was only when he dropped it off his shoulder that one of Brick's followers managed to find it.

Before he could turn around and take one step back towards Brick it was suddenly a spear tip had already stopped a few centimeters from his face, which could not move after being caught by him.

The spear-wielding young man could not show his shock for long enough when he realized he had floated in the air and crashed into the archer behind him, as Leinn had just swung his right hand that grasped his spear.

Leinn then took one step to the left and dodged the arrow aimed at him while swinging his left hand, catching the two throwing knives that floated into his chest.

He jumped up and gave a light kick to the wearer of the throwing knife, banging it on his two friends who had just collided. Make them three-stacks.

It all happened in less than three seconds.

“Sorry for your boss guns” said Leinn pointing to what was left of Brick's big axe.

The three people immediately turned to face the haired young man while on full alert.

They could not remember what happened after they collided because once they were conscious, they were already on top of the tree.

They were now more confused than afraid, not understanding how the young man in front of them could do all that and still looked relaxed.

Leinn only smiled after seeing their reaction.

“So... the bet?”

...

“...21...22...23...”

Leinn sat under a tree while moving the small Beast Core from one pouch to another transparent pouch.

Aura just sat nearby after checking on the condition of Brick and his three followers.

He also got their name after talking for a while with them.

“Hmph!” the blade user threw a grunt in annoyance, looking at the black-haired youth who was counting his victory rewards one by one like that.

Cosby Cassandra, the young man with an irritated expression, was no more than 160 centimeters tall with his sharp eyes and nose that was almost covered by his dark blue hair.

He was wearing long-sleeved green clothes and shorts with his throwing knife neatly lined up in his belt.

“We've already lost heavily, don't behave like that” said the archer next to him calmly.

Ethan Emanuel, a young man over 180 centimeters tall, is second only to Brick in their group.

The green hair that extends until it touches his back waist looks very prominent.

He wore a robe that covered his upper body and from what could be seen, he wore brown trousers.

“...31...32...”

“...” the spear wearer just sat not far from Leinn, staring at him without saying anything.

He was David Desmond, with his sturdy eyes and always furrowing eyebrows on his face making him look very firm.

Her short red hair also added to the feeling of discipline that she emitted.

He was wearing long-sleeved clothes and brown trousers that he had tidied up after their fight.

The three of them did not understand what reason Leinn was counting those Beast Cores in front of them, seeing that he had already won them over fairly.

“...39..40! Finished already” said Leinn suddenly while tying his transparent pouch.

“Hah?” Cosby was the first to react violently to her.

Before he could ask what he meant, he moved instinctively and caught a pouch that floated into his stomach all of a sudden.

He immediately realized it was their pocket, which now still contained a little more than half of the previous amount.

“K-you!” he said confusedly.

Before he could say anything, Ethan by his side had already grabbed and retrieved the bag from Cosby's hand.

He began to inspect and realized the pouch still contained over 60 Beast Cores.

“...what do you mean by this?” ethan asked, lifting the bag.

“What do I mean? I just took the result of my bet”

Leinn stuffed the transparent pouch in her hand into the large bag beside her.

Seeing this Ethan clasped the bag hard in his hand.

“That's why I asked why you returned this to us? What is this, mercy?” His tone turned more hostile.

They realized they could not defeat him despite attacking together and could only swallow the annoyance.

But he did not expect to be humiliated like that.

Leinn raised his face and looked at the young man standing in front of him.

“Huh?” he showed a clear confused expression.

And Ethan could see that expression and realize it wasn't being contrived by it.

“Huh?” he also showed the same confused expression.

The two of them looked at each other with the same expression, not understanding what their interlocutor meant.

“I've taken what I want, what do you mean mercy?”

Their negative feelings dissipated after seeing the clearly confused expression on Leinn's face, realizing there was absolutely no mocking expression there.

Cosby could only look at the exchange with a confused feeling.

“K-then why did you return more than half of what we bet?”

Leinn's confused expression finally changed after he realized what Ethan meant.

“Oooh, it's my fault. All I want is 40 of these, '' said Leinn, patting his big bag.

“A-what-“

“What do you mean?” David interrupts Ethan with his own question

He was already standing in front of Leinn and looking at her seriously.

“Ya... it feels weird that I let go of my hunting for no reason at all to people I don't know” Leinn replied casually.

“...!”

The answer greatly shocked the three of them and the pieces of the story were finally perfectly arranged.

They already felt that something was strange while taking out the Beast Core from the Giant Tarantula's corpses, seeing there was one piece of forest that was cut very neatly with a pile of corpses that looked like they were killed in one big chopping attack.

“So you..”.

BOOM UP!

Before David could continue his question, a loud explosion suddenly sounded from the same direction as the trail of the huge wolf.

The voice sounded very clear even at such a great distance, it must have resulted from a non-weak attack.

Leinn jumped to his feet while carrying his large bag in one smooth motion, with his gaze already fixed on the direction of the explosion.
