Ch. 43 - Criminal

All the prospective disciples had gathered in the empty field in the middle of the camp, both successful and unsuccessful.

An hour before the first test was over, different expressions could be seen on the faces of the people there.

Some looked disappointed, annoyed or desperate and others looked happy or calm with the Contracted Beast beside them.

Their expressions changed when they heard the voice of the newcomer who had just arrived at that field.

“More than half succeeded ya~”

The black-haired youth with a big bag on his back, Leinn got there.

Aura walked beside him followed by Rufus and Basalt who walked in their original size.

“Kyuu?”

“Yup, humans and Beasts. As we”

Clear was seen shaking over Leinn's head, seeing different humans and Beasts gathered in one place was calmly a strange sight for him.

Over 60 prospective disciples and 30 supervisors, with large numbers of Beasts making the field feel even narrower.

“Hm..”

Leinn and his group stopped in one place and began to look around him. He found at least 70 Beasts around him and he also realized one other thing, which was that everyone's gaze was on him.

Feelings of curiosity, alertness, even fear could be seen in their eyes. Some people near them were also seen starting to stay away and keep their distance.

“...?” Leinn began to sweep his gaze around him and found no one dared to look back at him.

The exceptions were the four people he had saved and the group of Brick who were looking at him with serious gazes.

Leinn began stroking his chin for a while, before lowering the right hand down onto the hilt of his sword. His face lowered to the ground until no one there could see his expression.

A flat voice came out from the black-haired young man who was bowing his head, shocking everyone there.

Leinn did not seem to care about the commotion that was going on around him and continued to count down.

Most of the Beasts there had even pretended to be dead or showed a surrender position.

And silence filled the camp.

The black-haired youth did nothing, only standing with his right hand still on the hilt of his sword.

Before anyone could ask what Leinn was doing, he lifted his face and showed a warm smile on his face. His right hand slipped from the handle of his sword and he again stood up leisurely.

Seeing that, everyone there breathed a sigh of relief. Although it does not understand the reason for the countdown, at least they-

“BOO!!!” Leinn shouted with all his might.

Loud screams from dozens of people filled the camp, breaking the previous silence.

Most of them fell or lay on the ground, some even unconscious.

Some Beasts had already entered into a state of shock and were unable to move on the grass of that field.

A cruel laugh came out of Leinn's mouth, enjoying the reaction of all the creatures there. He had not expected his plan to go that great, leaving almost everyone and the Beast there shocked.

The palm of his right hand had already covered both of his eyes while he was laughing loosely, coupled with the dozens of humans and Beast who could not move around him managed to produce a great scene.

The aura standing beside him could only lower his head, with his body visibly trembling.

He had already guessed Leinn's plan when he started counting down.

He also planned to stop her, but somehow could not do so. Now Aura could only lower her head, restraining her laughter that was about to come out.

They were already walking to this place, but hearing a loud scream made them speed up their movements.

Leinn stopped laughing and looked at the new group, then his wide smile turned into a thin smile in an instant.

Walking in the lead of the group was the Chief Supervisor of Mint Baccus who was smiling widely. His face that was smiling mocking was extremely unsightly.

The new group stopped five meters in front of Leinn, then one of them stepped forward while pulling out a large piece of paper.

“Prospective Disciple Leinn, you have allegedly brought a wild Beast to this camp on purpose and let it injure the test supervisor this time around. For this reason, you will follow us to the Hunter Guild to make amends for you”

The people there had calmed down again and started to whisper, they had heard the rumors and the order had proven the truth.

Mint and the supervisor who was reading the command were still standing still on the spot, but the other eight supervisors began to slowly surround Leinn with all of their Contracted Beasts.

Aura began to panic at the sudden arrest order.

“What the heck-“

“-With this, you are also disqualified and must cancel your Contract. Contracted Beasts and wild Beasts that follow you will be executed on the spot. If you fight back, we will be forced to use force on you too”

The protest from Aura was cut off by the rest of the command, he could not believe what he heard. Not only did Leinn fail, Basalt and Clear would be killed by them.

The watchdog finally finished reading that and grabbed the weapon at his waist, the other eight supervisors had already reached their positions and pulled out their weapons as well.

Mint stepped forward and looked at the man in front of her.

“Candidate disciple Leinn, not only do you not have a clear identity, you also brought a Rank B Beast to the camp without thinking about the safety of other prospective disciples. This is so irresponsible, isn't it?“

The mocking smile was still visible on his face, it was obvious that he was enjoying the situation.

He began to describe the young man in front of him as someone who did not care about the lives of others, trying to make Leinn look like a criminal.

Destroying people he disliked before they could become a problem was a hobby Mint Baccus had. The talent and influence he had allowed himself to do that for quite a long time. This habit is what makes him feared by the people around him.

He kept trying to lure Leinn to fight, so that he could have a reason to beat him up at that place as well.

“You made Rank E Beast your Contracted Beast, making you the worst Beast Trainer in the history of Red Dawn Academy. You also won't have a future here-“

One footstep, made the ten people around him step back and prepare their weapons simultaneously.

Leinn had only taken one step from where he stood before and the atmosphere instantly changed.

The whispers disappeared and the people there held their breath.

Clear had already jumped up and landed in Aura's embrace when she felt the change in atmosphere being released by Leinn.

Realizing what had just happened, Mint began to raise her tone.

“You injured four other would-be disciples inside that forest and stole their Beast Core! You also approached the Clan Princess Flameheart, what are you planning -!“

The sound of that very clear step sounded once again.

This time they managed to stop their legs from stepping back, but the grip of the hand on their weapon became even tighter.

Mint's eye gaze met Leinn's eye gaze which still had a very thin smile on her face.

Leinn just stared very calmly, not showing the slightest emotion from his two eyes.

“-Gorilla Beast you said it's okay to follow you has injured ten supervisors! Most of them are not even conscious! Don't you feel guilty-“

The sentence stopped again, but this time not by the sound of footsteps.

His attempt to continue blaming the young man in front of him had been stopped by his own instincts, which shouted to stop his intention of looking for trouble with the young man in front of him.

Leinn was still smiling faintly.

And from that smile...

“Their formula is you”

Two words came out, enough to convey his intentions.

“ATTEND HIM!” mint shouted in panic.
