Lover Forced The Ruler
Chapter 92. Sniffing Traps

Lisle clutched her phone tighter. His knuckles are white.

No. gabe. This is not true! How could he sneak away from the watchful eyes of the people guarding him. This must be a trap!

"Hows it? As long as you want, you can go" go after Bert.

"What are you saying right? You really have both of those things?" Lisle tried to think while stalling for time. "I want you to send me the picture."

"No problem. Just sec…."

There was a rustling sound. A few moments later....

Ting! A chat message came in. A photograph. Lisle hurried to click.

It was a true picture of his parents. Look younger. Probably taken before he was born.

Then another photo. A music box.

Lisle's tears had now completely fallen. His fingers trembled at the screen that showed the photo.

"Hows it? Is that convincing enough?" bert said when there was no sound from the other side.

Lisle wiped her tears while nodding. Then it dawned on Bert that he couldn't see it. "Yes" he answered.

"When do you want to meet?" ask Lisle then. He knows it's stupid. But he had to get that photo by taking this opportunity. Something else he'll think about later.

"Tomorrow."

"Tomorrow? That's too fast." Lisle was nervous.

"Why?"

"I have to think of a way," Lisle said uncertainly.

"I have a plan. You don't have to think about it." Bert was a little impatient.

"Say." Lisle wants to know. He could consider if the plan was reasonable enough.

"Tomorrow at noon go to a Barnes clothing store on Dax Avenue. Look around for a moment. Fifteen minutes later go to the fitting room to try. The room is sheltered by several display pillars. Sneak through the back door. I'll wait for you there." Bert told me his plan.

Lisle's head became dizzy instantly. He never thought of tricking anyone who was watching him. He knows everything for his own good.

And Kennard, that man would be furious to learn that Lisle covered all of this from him.

"What do you think? It's not hard, is it?" Bert grinned to himself at the end there. He knew Lisle had eaten up his plan.

"Yes. That's not hard. I can do it" Lisle said.

After confirming the timing, they ended the conversation.

Kennard returned before dinner and found his sleeping wife still in the clothes she was wearing last day. His forehead wrinkled. Usually at this hour, Lisle was tidy and prepared for dinner.

He lowered his head on the body that lay deep, touching Lisle's forehead thinking the girl might have a slight fever. But his body temperature is normal.

And that touch even though it was very gentle kept Lisle awake.

"You're home yet?" scolded him while closing his eyes.

"Are you not feeling well?" Kennard did not respond to the reprimand. He grabbed a pinch of hair covering his wife's cheeks and slipped it behind his ear.

Lisle shook her head a little. "I just feel tired and sleepy. Is it almost dinner time?"

"It's still half an hour away. You better get up and take a shower." Kennard took off his tie, and walked to the bathroom.

Lisle opened her eyes and observed Kennard disappearing behind the bathroom door. He breathed in a feeling of uneasiness.

As dinner Lisle became even more quiet. He considered telling Kennard about Bert but then disengaged him. Then he remembered the conversation with Shopia on campus. He forgot about it when he met Kennard at the office this afternoon.

"I met Shopia on campus this morning. He looks different. I mean his attitude is becoming more friendly. Like you said, he knows our relationship even if we're just counting." Lisle started telling stories. "Said she went to the city jail and met Sally. You remember that girl, right? Sally said something about some people she said were trying to destroy you."

Kennard listened quietly. He didn't seem surprised by the story. There are always people who want to destroy it. It was not at all a surprise to him.

"Didn't you want to investigate?" ask Lisle. What Sally said scared her a little. Although Kennard's response seemed calm, but sometimes he worried about the calm. There are things that are out of control. Sometimes things get messy when we become overconfident.

Kennard smiles. "You're worried about me?"

"Of course I'm worried."

"I don't usually care much. There are always people or groups of people who want to take down. But if by investigating it you're calm, I'll investigate." Kennard tried to ease his wife's anxiety.

Although relieved to hear her husband's words, Lisle still felt a wedge in her heart. Maybe it's Bert's problem. Tomorrow after college he promised to meet his cousin. Of course after deceiving her husband's people.

All night Lisle was restless. His sleep was not good but he tried to keep his eyes closed so that Kennard did not suspect. It seems like the man thought he was agitated because of Shopia's story. Although trying to look ordinary still Kennard reprimanded him because several times flipping the body looking for a comfortable position. Lastly the man pulled Lisle into a hug in order to be quiet. He himself would not be able to sleep well if his wife continued to twitch next to him.

Lisle hesitated when she stepped into the two-story shop building. Barnes Fashion's. Not a store that sells expensive clothes. Lisle used to be here to buy clothes. He bought one or two for daily use.

It was William who drove him like he wanted to protest by saying that Barnes only sold cheap goods. But Lisle reasoned that she didn't want to look flashy when she went to college in branded clothes. He was about to find cheap clothes that made him more comfortable hiding his identity.

How troublesome this young mistress is. Why care about the views of the people around him? William muttered inwardly while arranging the position of his car in the parking lot. He would wait until the young mistress finished shopping.

Inside, visitors are crowded. Some waiters are even overwhelmed serving shoppers. Lisle took a look at the counter of women's clothing section. Every now and then he chooses, bounces it on the body and then restores it back on the hanger when it feels less suitable. In the end he seemed to find three clothes and stepped into a fitting room sheltered by a pillar.

Inside that small box room, Lisle's heart was pounding.  He placed the clothes he was carrying on the hanger and peeked out of the gap of the closing curtain. The girl saw a small door that Bert mentioned and slipped out of the fitting room heading there.

Lisle felt a little strange when she found no one near the door and the small hallway behind it. After walking a few steps, the girl found another door. Exits. Lisle hurriedly opened the door that turned out to be unlocked. As soon as he arrived outside, Lisle saw a gray car. The window glass on the driver's side appears to be lowered. Bert waved a sign at Lisle.
