Chapter 45. First Day at Diamond Group

Although still upset by the incident yesterday, that morning Lisle woke up excitedly. He could not hide his happy feelings as he was about to start working at Diamond Group. The application file that has been prepared, kept well so as not to attract the attention of Kennard to examine it.

Several times Lisle stole a glance at the man in the extraordinary-looking black suit. Kennard was enjoying his breakfast in the style of an emperor. A few waiters seemed to be serving around the dining table.

Today Lisle felt the breakfast atmosphere looked more crowded. There was usually only Thomas and another servant. This morning there were two more servants going back and forth in the dining room; a woman in her forties and an even younger one.

They spent breakfast without any meaningful conversation. Kennard said if Lisle doesn't like the new job or gets into trouble, it's better to quit.

“You won't starve even if it doesn't work. I don't like it when I hear something bothering my girl. You don't want someone to get in trouble because you ‘, do you?” Kennard put his coffee cup on the table. When she looked at Lisle, the girl coughed.

Her girl? Lisle grimaced after choking upon hearing Kennard's words. But he said nothing. Lisle didn't want to argue because Kennard was so cunning when he spoke. The man is good at twisting words.

“William will take you to college and work. Don't walk from the stop,” Kennard continued. Lisle's happy feelings did not escape his attention. Kennard suspects a problem will happen again but decides to do nothing.

“Good.” Lisle nodded obediently. Did William complain that he sometimes asked to be dropped off in front of the bus stop? Lisle wondered inwardly.

Today's college has become very boring. Lisle also did not meet Celine as the girl returned home to the small town east of Black Mountain. Celine's mother was suddenly sick until the girl was allowed to not go to college. It reminded Lisle of Annie's aunt who was said to be sick by Bert so much that he rushed home to Glassville.

William actually picked her up. The driver was waiting with his car at the back gate. Lisle even thought that the man had not left this morning after dropping him off. Maybe William kept waiting for her there until Lisle came home.

How'this? Think Lisle. There's no way he's asking to be ushered into the Diamond Group.

“Take me to Jill & Jo.” Lisle mentioned the name of a building adjacent to the Diamond Group. It was only a few dozen meters away. After all, it was only the building that he really remembered because of its unique design. It looks like a construction company because there is a construction frills behind the name of the company. Jill & Jo Construction.

“Good, Miss.” William politely replied.

It only takes ten minutes to get to the place in question. Lisle felt a thump as she stepped down from the car.

“Thank you, William. I'll call when it's time to go home.” Lisle was worried that William would continue to stay there and charge him during working hours. How could he walk into Diamond Group under the supervision of that driver?

Fortunately William did not argue. After nodding respectfully, the man ran his car leaving Lisle who was still standing on the sidewalk. The girl rushed to the Diamond Group office. He didn't want to be late for his first day at work.

Lisle was given a light blue channel uniform with the Diamond logo. The size is very fitting. Only according to Lisle the lower part is too short until a few inches of his thighs and legs exposed. The originally stiff female manager involuntarily praised Lisle immediately when the girl returned from the dressing room to be briefed on her duties.

That day Lisle was given a stack of documents to deliver to several departments on different floors.

It turned out that the Diamond Group office was not as simple as Lisle's mind and the job of delivering documents was not an easy one either. Several times the girl found the wrong floor and the wrong department. Shoes entitled to five inches it has made his feet hurt at the end of his working hours. And what made her start to feel uncomfortable were some male employees who tried to flirt and ask for her mobile number. He started thinking about Kennard's words this morning.

“Do you have a boyfriend?” ask someone in Lisle's time planning department to deliver the documents there. The handsome man immediately asked after introducing himself as Dean. He looks very confident.

“Already.” Lisle answered short. Ever since the incident with Ralph, he had no hesitation in answering like that if anyone asked. Whether Mr. Kent calls Lisle his girl or not, Lisle doesn't want to risk someone becoming a victim again.

Some employees who had heard the conversation looked like they were holding back a laugh. Dean is known as the playboy of the planning department. He was involved in a short date with some female employees there. The man also seduced the newly employed girls by offering them a ride home in his luxurious car. Honey, this time he got the stone.

“What does he also work here?” Dean asked again. It was actually just a small talk because Lisle seemed to seriously pack up some of the remaining documents by placing them temporarily on Dean's desk and rearranging them.

Lisle stopped her hand movement like she was thinking then nodded. “Iya. He also works here...” So don't get too close to me because she won't like it Lisle said in her heart.

“Who? Maybe I know him. I've been working here a long time.” Dean was curious. Lisle was the most beautiful girl he had ever seen in this place, even more beautiful than the girls he had dated before. Who is the lucky guy who is his girlfriend? It is said that the man also works at Diamond Group, it is impossible for his girlfriend to be a high-ranking person because Lisle is only a part-time employee with a low salary. If his girlfriend has enough money, of course, this girl will not want to bother working to deliver documents from one floor to another.

“You won't like to hear it,” Lisle said with a smile and rushed out of the room. He was determined to avoid the man next time.

But the ‘ trick already has a boyfriend’ it does not apply to a manager named John Blackton, once he introduced his name to Lisle. He gave Lisle his business card which listed his public relations manager post and his phone number. John didn't even ask if Lisle already had a boyfriend or not while taking dinner.

Of course Lisle tried to resist it.

“Sorry, Mr. John. I can't. My boyfriend wouldn't like it if I had dinner alone with another guy.” Lisle emphasized the word ‘parku’ so that the man does not bother him anymore.

But John is different. The forty-year-old man laughed and lightly said, “You can invite your girlfriends. I don't mind us eating three.”

It felt like Lisle wanted Mr. Kent to stand there and hear firsthand a manager inviting him to dinner.
