Lover Forced The Ruler
Chapter 36. A Party and a Love Rival

Lisle noticed Kennard who looked very charming in his fancy suit. He was reading a book and quietly peeking out from behind it as the man paced between the bathroom, walked in closet and returned to the bedroom. Once upon a time his phone rang and the man talked for a while there. It looks like Kennard is getting ready to go to an important event.

When she came home this afternoon Lisle was surprised to find the man eating lunch at home. He hopes Kennard doesn't know about what happened at the mall. However, Shopia is only being emotional out of jealousy. He doesn't want anyone to be hurt because of him. Moreover, it was just a misunderstanding. Shopia thinks Lisle has a certain relationship with Ralph.

But Lisle then became relieved because Kennard did not even mention the problem. He thought Steve would definitely not report such a small thing to his Master.

They don't talk much when they eat. Kennard went to the study afterwards and remained there late in the afternoon. Now the man is getting ready to leave. Lisle reluctantly asked because she felt she had no right to interfere in Kennard's affairs. He's just very curious.

Lisle's face was drowned in that thick ledger. He seemed to be reading but was actually daydreaming. When a hand snatched the book from his hand, he became extremely shocked. The man lowered his head in front of him until his handsome face became very close.

“Reading or being daydreaming?” Kennard's smile was seductive.

“Of course read.” Lisle's face flushed. “Restore my book!” He intended to snatch the book out of Kennard's hands but it wasn't nimble enough for it to be unattainable.

“I didn't know you had the ability to read in reverse.” Finally Kennard put the book on the sofa next to him.

“What? A... i...” Lisle felt immense shame. Book's upside-down. Why could?

“There's a business banquet later tonight. You wanna come with? If you are now ready, we still have time to arrive there even though it is a little late.” Kennard knew this girl several times peeking out from behind the book she was pretending to read. Curiosity was evident on that beautiful face. Such behavior made Kennard almost laugh. Very childish, her heart.

“Hah? No. gabe. I don't want to. You just go.” Lisle shook her head so fast that her hair that was pigtailed high came swaying here and there.

Although she was curious about such a party, Lisle had no intention of going along with Mr. Kent. Did he want his face to be seen by the world along with this incredible creature?

“Why not? Afraid to see people?” kennard asked as his arm pulled the girl into his arms.

Lisle looks very attractive with her oversized t-shirt and shorts. For Kennard the shirt was really ugly but strangely became very charming when Lisle wore it. This girl hauled all her clothes to Parm Garden and wore them back and forth throughout the mansion, stirring up gossip among the servants. They were surprised, Kennard didn't mind.

The masculine scent of perfume filled Lisle's sense of smell, giving rise to a strange feeling.

“You promised not to show our relationship.” If she could, Lisle wanted her body to shrink by a few inches to make the hug a little looser.

“If you want to come, I don't mind reneging on my promise.” Kennard grabbed Lisle's little chin.

“I didn't force you to come. I only offered you.” Kennard's eyebrows shot up and his smile made Lisle even more upset.

“Already. Just go by yourself. I'm not interested in the crowd.” Lisle broke away from the big arm. “There are still college assignments I have to complete.” He hurried out of the room towards Kennard's study. The man allowed him to be there if he wanted to do his duties.

Kennard notices Lisle leaving and disappears behind the door. His smile immediately shrank.

Kennard had no plans to take the girl away. His assistant Steve had contacted Alice, a famous model who had attracted him a while ago to accompany him to the party. But a phone call from Hans telling him that Ralph Caldwin, the man who had been trying to investigate for a few days, suddenly came to the same event, making Kennard change his mind. Kennard wanted to know the man's reaction when he saw Lisle, the girl he liked coming with him.

Unfortunately the girl refused as she expected. Kennard didn't want to force either.

The guests seemed to have mingled with each other as Ralph walked with definite strides toward the most impressive man at the party. Kennard came to the very end, as if showing all the guests that he was very busy and did not have enough time to be at the event. Next to him was a spoiled girl with an alluring appearance. They look pretty mismatched. It's just that the sight made Ralph even more upset.

If Kennard is Lisle's girlfriend, why isn't that girl accompanying him tonight?

“Mr Kent, can I ask you for a minute. I want to talk about something.” Ralph extended his hand. “I Ralph Caldwin. Maybe you've heard of me.”

Kennard only glanced slightly at the hand that was outstretched toward him but ignored it and whispered into the ear of Alice, the girl who was accompanying him. “Do you not want to talk to Mr Jackson? I saw him near the park. I heard he was planning a new movie project.”

The eyes of the girl who was called Alice seemed to shine even brighter hearing Kennard's words. He knew he couldn't hope for more than today, accompanying this man to the party. If lucky he can still enjoy the rest of the night by going up to Mr. Kent's bed which many girls dream of. On top of that, he could gain another advantage. As a model trying out acting, her association with Mr. Kent will raise her value in the eyes of film producers. This is a lifetime opportunity not to be missed.

Alice nodded while showing off her sweetest smile. He knew there was business he should not hear, but he was also happy that Mr. Kent was showing him a path to fame. She gracefully left those two who were still looking at her to vanish among the passing guests.

“That girl has been very trying. I don't think it's too bad. It's just that lately I'm not interested in that type of girl,” Kennard said then turned to the younger man in front of him.

Ralph felt this Mr. Kent was trying to say something else. Maybe he meant that right now he was into the type of innocent girl like Lisle. Ralph refrained from punching the face of the man in front of him.

“Say, what price do I have to pay to release Lisle from you?” Ralph immediately said without further ado.
