"When did you come home?" That adorable soft voice invaded Kennard's hearing at the end of the joint. The man could almost feel the girl's arm coiling around his neck.
Lastly Lisle lived in the Palm Garden, the girl always avoided her touch in all sorts of ways. Although upset, Kennard also couldn't help but laugh every time he recalled how the girl thought hard at the dinner table. Lisle must have thought Kennard didn't know the stupid trick he was playing by pretending to be sick. As Kennard was about to call his personal doctor, the girl held him back and confessed that he was not really sick.
Then a deal was made. The wedding will be held in a week. Without a fancy party. Without publishing. It will be a secret for a while before the official celebration. Kennard agrees though he can smell the problems that may arise someday. He only needed to keep an eye on his wife so as not to cause any serious trouble.
It's just that when Lisle said he was going back to the apartment even though for a while, Kennard almost exploded. The girl had only arrived at the Palm Garden for a few hours but was already planning to leave. Kennard's patience is running out.
But out of nowhere Lisle got that cleverness, made a persecuted expression, bit his lower lip and the rest were silent. Kennard could only sigh helplessly then reluctantly agreed to Lisle's wishes. She knew right, Lisle tried to avoid her. The girl looked terrified at every look of passion that rose in Kennard's eyes. The man was getting impatient waiting for their wedding. Whether Lisle would still dodge again later, Kennard really wanted to know.
"Hm, why? Don't tell me you miss me," said Kennard.
Kennard was sitting in an important meeting on a project that he had to tackle firsthand. The call from Lisle became a pause for the tension just now. At first glance Kennard could hear a sigh of relief from the meeting participants. There were some who even wiped off the sweat on his face even though the room was already using air conditioning.
The man rose out of the room while gesturing to Steve that the meeting was postponed for a while. Kennard stood facing the New York cityscape while waiting for the sound that lately made him addicted.
*I really miss you." Lisle sounded sulky as she said it. "Can't it?"
Kennard closed his eyes while grinding his teeth. The girl is very good at flirting when far apart, but becomes a rat-like squeak against the cat when faced.
"So, when's Mister coming home?" Lisle repeated her question as she did not hear a voice from across.
"Three more days" Kennard said after a quick thought. There was a sly smile looming at the corner of his lips.
"Three more days? That's not her wedding day?!" Lisle's voice at the other end sounded almost hysterical.
"No problem. You just have to wait carefully in Palm Garden. The clerk taking care of the wedding paperwork is coming and Thomas is going to take care of his little party. I've also told Nathan, David and Benjamin to come. You can invite your friend Celine too. I'll be there on time." Kennard said casually as if talking about an ordinary dinner.
For a moment it didn't sound valid from across the line. Kennard could imagine the sweet lips being bent, making him gulp as he remembered the taste.
"Sir is joking, right?" lisle asked sounding carefully.
"No. I earnestly. Some of my business got delayed because my spoiled future wife kept calling me. Right now I even have to postpone my meeting when my phone rings in the middle of the meeting."
"Be... I see, huh?" Lisle suddenly felt guilty. He thought Kennard would turn down his phone if he was busy and didn't think he would always take his calls even though he was at work.
After arriving at Celine's apartment, Lisle immediately became homesick to the man. They had just separated a moment before. He refrained from calling Mr. Kent until the next day.
Apparently talking on the phone with Mr. Kent made Lisle addicted. From then until today he called Kennard every few hours.
So he's been interfering with Mr. Kent's work, huh?
Then the connection is cut off.
"Lisle?" call Kennard before realizing that the girl has ended her long-distance call. He was still listening to the silence of the connection that stopped and turned off his phone screen.
Everything Kennard said was true about his pending work. But of course he won't come too on time. At least he would have arrived at Black Mountain the day before. He was just joking with Lisle, not expecting the girl to take him seriously.
Kennard sighed. A moment of confusion about what to do. The girl may be sulking or worse feel guilty. There is a possibility that Lisle will stop calling him, the thing that he feared would happen so that Kennard never refused to talk to the girl even though sometimes Lisle's babbling increasingly unclear. Especially when the girl was sleepy, her speech was completely incomprehensible. Then a little while later, Kennard will hear a soft snoring from his sleeping interlocutor.
But then Kennard remembered his busy schedule in this city. And he planned to return as soon as possible to calm Lisle down. It was better than having to persuade the girl over the phone. So he would probably ignore the girl for a while.

Lisle suddenly wanted to cry after disconnecting her phone call. Her eyes begin to condense as her best friend Celine is seen entering the room while carrying her bag. Hurriedly the girl lay on her side facing the opposite direction to Celine while wiping the corner of her eyes that began to drain clear.
"You didn't call your girlfriend?" Just reaching the floor of the room, Celine had already reprimanded Lisle who looked silent like a sleeping person. He briefly noticed Lisle's sudden lying motion for a moment before entering the room.
Looks like Lisle's trousers. The girl did not change her position which was still turned to Celine. His friend frowned. This is not usually, inner Celine.
"Is there a problem?" celine asked as she threw her clothes into the laundry basket.
"No. I'm just sleepy. I want to sleep." Lisle replied in a stinging voice because she had cried.
A hand pulled on the side of Lisle's body, flipping it to its back.
"You crying? What was? Aren't you getting married?" Celine is panicking. If true that was the possibility, Celine would accompany Lisle in tears. Failing to be Kent's mistress is a disaster that deserves all-out regret.
Lisle shook her head again while biting her lower lip trying to hold back the crying. He felt guilty and worried. What if Mr Kent comes late for something?
"Mr Kent said he'd be back on our wedding day…." Lisle got up from her lying position.
"Huh, I think what a serious problem. Mr. Kent is a busy man. So it's only natural that the schedule is solid like that." Celine breathed a sigh of relief at Lisle's exaggerated complaints.
"He said he could have come back sooner if I hadn't been calling him all the time. Celine, besides feeling guilty, I'm also worried that in case her return is hindered by something. What about the show if he doesn't come?" Lisle looks rubbed the corner of her eyes. He looked like someone who was in great pain, making Celine who saw him regret having already worried about him.
Without saying anything Celine stepped into the bathroom. Just a few days with Celine, Lisle made her almost go crazy. He could have told Lisle that they could postpone the wedding tomorrow if Mr. Kent did not attend. It's not a big wedding anyway. But Lisle will definitely start to argue with him. Just thinking about it already made Celine suddenly feel tired.
In the heart of the girl hope, may the marriage run smoothly until she can soon be free from the madness of Lisle.
