Lover Forced The Ruler

Lover Forced The Ruler
Chapter 52. Ignored

Three months later.

It's a hot day. Lisle went down the sidewalk as soon as she got off the bus carrying her. He was looking for a new job after changing jobs several times in just three months. He went to Daisy and went back to work at Cloud Cafe. But his decision to quit Cloud Cafe seems to have been right. A small cafe with one owner and three employees was not too efficient. Daisy's cafe is more crowded than ever, but not crowded enough to require three employees. Only at certain hours did the cafe become too busy. Finally for the second time Lisle stopped working from there.

After that, Lisle got some small jobs for a small wage. Those jobs did not make him feel at home and only made him last a while then quit in just a matter of weeks.

Lisle's tears almost fell. He has almost no money at all. The last time she quit a job was because the owner, a man in his fifties tried to harass her. He didn't get a paycheck from there after working less than a week. While all of Mr. Kent's gifts have been returned without the man's knowledge. He placed it in a desk drawer near the bed in Palm Garden, not wanting anything left behind that would connect him to the man in the future.

In the street hustle at the noon break, Lisle heard a soft roar up there. The girl looked up at the sky. A black Heli bearing the Diamond Group logo flashed between the skyscrapers.

How far it turned out he had climbed in the past three months. He had been in the same vehicle one time with Mr. Kent on a short trip. At that time all that was in his head were bad thoughts without feeling how amazing it was now. Today he saw that their differences were immeasurable. He used to be able to look at the charming face side by side almost not far away, but from where he stands now even by looking up he could not find those dark eyes anymore.

Lisle blinked her eyes expelling the dew point that had begun to be created. Did he really fall for that scary guy? Has he become homesick today?

Nah! That's not possible! Subconsciously the girl shook her head trying to expel her beginning unreasonable thoughts.

Lisle turned on the largest courtyard in the Black Mountains. Celine told him a vacancy in the cleaning service section with a feeling of reluctance, fearing that Lisle was offended by having to do such a clean-up job. But Lisle never chose a job. As long as it doesn't sell self-esteem, he'll be happy to do it.

After passing through several floors of the mall that are crowded with escalators, Lisle walked in a hallway that has an elevator at the end. That elevator will take him to the outsourced admissions section.

May that position not be filled, Lisle prayed inwardly.

There's no one in that hallway. Lisle walked slowly towards the elevator door. A few more steps he'll get there when the elevator door opens. Four men stepped out. The man who walked ahead was the man he knew very well, Mr. Kent. Behind her successively escorted, people who were also known to Lisle; Steve, David and Nathan.

Almost Lisle turned around with evasive intent, but that was too much. Didn't Mr. Kent ever say, as soon as Lisle stepped out of the Palm Garden, they were two strangers.

Tap.

Two strangers.

Two strangers.

The sound of their footsteps coincided with Lisle's chaotic heartbeat.

Lisle steeled her heart as they nearly clashed the road. Half-descended Lisle avoided meeting a glance.

Tap.

Deg. deg.

Two strangers.

When Lisle arrived inside the elevator and turned around, the girl saw that none of them paid her any heed despite just looking at her for a moment.

The tears that were previously held in the pelupuk, fell as well....

“You are like a couple of lovers who are fighting.” David threw himself on the sofa of the president's office followed by Nathan. “Selevating. Child once,” continued David.

Steve put some maps on Kennard's desk and left soon after. Ever since Lisle left Palm Garden that day, everything around Mr. Kent seemed to be back to how it was. Cold and gloomy. The girl's name was never uttered even once from her master's lips as if it had never existed in the man's life.

“You didn't see her face that was almost crying?” David again harasses Kennard's residence. He was curious about the man's attitude that succumbed to Lisle's stupidity. The girl just needs to be convinced of something about feelings. Unfortunately, Mr. Kent is too proud to admit that his previous special treatment of the girl was not on the basis of mere liking.

“I don't care,” Kennard said in a cold voice.

There was Nathan's snide laughter. “I think the great Lord Kent is in love.”

“Hm, I think so too. You stayed at home with her for almost a month but never touched the girl at all. Isn't that weird? Like a cake in hand, you just eat it.” David chimed.

“Not your business.” Kennard checked some documents on his desk. His expression was flat like it was not affected by the conversation. He called his secretary asking for some more documents.

“Do you guys have no job but to take care of me? If there is nothing else to discuss you should leave immediately.” Kennard spoke without looking at his two friends who he knew were still smiling sickly.

The two men in front of him looked at each other. They knew Kennard treated Lisle differently. Why suddenly take off the girl just like that if you really like it? They could have suggested finding a way to melt the girl's heart had Kennard asked for it.

“So you are no longer interested in that girl?” David asked carefully.

Kennard ignored David's question. He did not even raise his face from staring at the document sheet on the table.

David took a breath. A little annoyed by the hardness of heart of this Diamond Group owner's men. “Then, it would be fine if I approached him. I don't think it's gonna be too hard. She's a sweet and nice girl. I don't have to spend a lot to get it. Besides, like you said, he's still clean.”.

David awaits Kennard's reaction to his provoking remarks. Yet the man still seemed calm with his work, not the slightest bit affected.

“We go first,” said David then rise accompanied by Nathan.

The two left Kennard's office with hearts filled with curiosity.

After the two died, Kennard stopped his work. Retract the back to the backrest and close the eyes. Both of his hands clenched until his knuckles turned white.
