Chapter 86. Celine's Grief

"Of course" Kennard answered with conviction.

"My parents said I had a brother. Unfortunately, he disappeared at an annual celebration in our city. He was four years old at the time. I wasn't even born yet. But I don't have his picture. All the family photos were burned the night of the accident." Lisle bit her lip remembering the successive calamity she had suffered that night. Both of his parents died in a car accident and that night the house they left was burned down.

"But the newspapers once ran the news. The picture must be there." A hope of meeting a brother he had never seen resurrected. That hope once faded from the hearts of his parents, first.

That said, the day held the famous annual flower festival in their city. Although it was only a small town, but the festival was very famous. People from all over the country came. Some even come from abroad. The atmosphere is very crowded and lively. That's when his brother disappeared into the crowd.

"Can we find him?" Lisle turned and looked expectantly at Kennard. "You said you could find anything…." 

"I'll look for you." Kennard. "But it may take some time because it's been a long time."

"No problem. I know it's definitely not easy. Even if it's going to be a dead end, at least we've tried." For some reason, Lisle had the belief that she would meet her brother one day. Who would he be like now?

The next day Lisle still insists on being trained by Kennard himself rather than Andra. This time for a different reason. He was horrified to be close to the girl after hearing Kennard's story.

Kennard could only take a long breath of self-soothing. Lisle always managed to make him almost lose control. Previously he also knew having a relationship with a woman would be very troublesome. But he had not expected it to be so troublesome like this. Surprisingly, he did not mind. Although Lisle often made her emotional, she never thought of letting go of this girl. He even wanted to hold it tight.

That day Lisle became very excited. He started aiming correctly though not as well as Kennard had expected. But Lisle was able to target the bullet in some of the outermost viewfinder circles. He just needs to practice more.

Steve looked at the girl who was waiting for his mother in the room from behind the transparent door. He did not want to go inside to say hello. While the doctor James next to him only pay attention to the assistant president of Diamond Group. He knitted his brows not understanding. Steve took care of everything related to the care of the girl's mother. But today the man did not want to see her. He had only come to take a look at the condition of the half-old woman lying inside there. 

Doctor James has some not-so-good news.

"How long will he last?" ask Steve. She is told that Celine's mother's condition continues to deteriorate. 

"We've done everything." Doctor James did not say directly, but Steve understood something worse could happen.

Steve nodded. "Call me when something happens. I'll go first." Then the man left the place.

Steve had only stepped a few meters from there when a panicked voice sounded from inside the room. He turned around and saw the door of the treatment room open.

Doctor James hunts into the room accompanied by Celine. Steve saw the newly arrived Rey also rushing to follow.

Steve saw a sudden rush there. Some medical staff arrived. Then Celine and Rey looked out of the room with anxious looks. The two paced in front of the room in agitation. They did not look at Steve who stood obstructed by a large pillar.

Steve really wanted to be there just to cheer the girl up so she wouldn't panic. Maybe the girl will have to face a painful loss later. But Steve also knew that such an act would only create another wound. He did not want to be too close to Celine. He has to make distance.

From some of their meetings these few days, Steve saw something in the girl's eyes. The way he looked at Steve was different. And Celine was also more often nervous when dealing with him. Steve has met a lot of women. He had memorized the same gaze he had met in Celine's eyes. If it happens to another woman, she doesn't care. He would not care if a feeling would plunge another woman into the abyss of hope.

But Celine's a good girl. Young mistress' best friend too. Steve did not want to give hope if he did not have the desire to give an equal feeling.

There's Rey, Celine's sister, who will accompany you. His aunt and uncle will also be coming. Someone will accompany the girl. Steve wasn't too worried about that. He just needed to stand in the distance, pay attention and take care of other things to reduce the burden on the girl. For others, Steve couldn't do more.

Ladies and gentlemen will be back in two days. Steve was about to tell his mistress about Celine's problem, but the girl forbade him. He said he didn't want to disturb the couple. So Steve abandoned his intentions.

After a while, the door of the room opened. Doctor James is out. Celine and Rey approach the doctor before being summoned. Doctor James seemed to say something that was greeted by Celine's hysterical screams. Rey looked in disbelief. The sight really published a sense of compassion for anyone who saw it.

In the place where he stood, Steve knew without having to listen to their conversation. Celine's mother has left. Now only the brothers live. The man took a heavy breath. Everything he saw made his chest tight. He knows what it feels like to lose. His parents also left one by one. He is alone in this world.

Steve left that place. He had told Dr James not to tell him about his arrival. He'll see Celine later. Maybe at the funeral.

Celine trembled in the arms of her younger brother, Rey. He didn't believe his hearing just now. Her mother is gone.

They were told that the operation was very risky. But they had no better choice. The operation was the only hope. Even so, it still felt that Celine could not accept. His knees feel weak. She wants to go in and see her mother but Rey forbids it.

They'll wait for their uncle and aunt to come. Celine had contacted both of them this morning when her mother's condition was said to be worsening. That's when the phone rang. A call from a foreign number. Celine accepts. An unknown voice sounded from the end of the channel.

"Chello, Celine?" The voice of a man sounded quite charming.
