Chapter 54. We Are Land And Clouds

l“Fell in love with mr Kent?” Lisle. “No. That's not possible. Where do I dare...” The more Lisle thought about it, the more impossible it felt. While on Mr. Kent's side, he didn't even dare to think of being the man's true lover. Especially now, as he saw for himself how far the distance that stretched.

”It's not about courage, Lisleee Celine was feeling anxious. “You can't resist that feeling of love, no matter if you dare or not. You want it or not.”

Lisle looked down while playing her blanket. She wanted to refute Celine's words but didn't know what to say. If what the girl said was true, then what? Come to Mr Kent and express feelings for the man? Who is Lisle to dare to discuss love with the ruler of Black Mountain. What would that mean for that man? Is there ever a word of love in the dictionary of men's lives that can get a lot of women easily?

“I'm sleepy. I want to sleep.” Lisle suddenly lay back down and pulled the blanket over her head. He did not dare look at his best friend.

Celine who had already seemed excited while discussing the matter that had kept her curious about Lisle and lord Kent became speechless. He no longer knew how to convince Lisle. Maybe people who are in love are not always aware that they have fallen. When they could not get up again, they realized they had fallen too deep.

Besides, why would Mr Kent let go of this stupid girl? Celine grumbled in her heart. Why didn't the man try any harder to subdue this ignorant fool? Perhaps that way Celine will not be constantly treated to a gloomy view in her apartment every day. Seeing Lisle who was constantly moody and sometimes crying for no reason was really not the sight that Celine wanted to see.

It felt like Celine wanted to drag Lisle before master Kent and say that the girl had fallen in love with him and asked if the man also felt the same way or just wanted to play around with Lisle. Maybe after that he could decide to support Lisle's decision to leave Palm Garden or instead throw the girl out of her apartment to return to Mr. Kent.

Lisle looked straight at Mr. Cedric gave an explanation in front of the class. The man in his thirties said a few sentences that lisle did not understand because his mind was floating around somewhere. Several times he blinked trying to expel the thought he shouldn't have. I have to focus, Lisle said inwardly.

When the class ended, Lisle did not immediately leave the room. He was still in his chair as he kept thinking about Celine's words last night. Maybe his best friend was right, about Lisle who was already in love with Mr. Kent. It was just that it really meant nothing to Lisle except sadness. Besides, it's nothing out of the ordinary. Aren't there a lot of girls out there who dream of that guy? Then why would someone like Lisle have to be different if they felt the same way?

Lisle packed her books and stationery into a bag. Celine said she would wait for him near the park. They will be working together from college. Slowly the girl stepped out of the room.

Reaching the park that is not too crowded, Lisle just realized that the atmosphere of the campus looks different. He saw billboards along the campus road leading to the hall. Several large banners also appeared to be plastered everywhere. It contained something about a beauty contest or something, Lisle did not care much. She is not a student who is usually involved with campus activities.

On a park bench, Lisle saw Celine who was already frowning.

 Lisle's smile involuntarily expanded. Celine sometimes looks funny when sulking. Like this morning at breakfast, his best friend constantly bent his lips and never once spoke to him. Lisle was unconscious at first. After a while, Lisle only felt Celine's uncharacteristic attitude. The girl was upset about something. It's just that Lisle doesn't understand where her mistake lies.

She felt all was well until Celine said, “Don't talk to me again. You won't listen to what I say either?”

Lisle who had a moment before asked about the girl's work was flabbergasted. Celine is angry? “Listening what? What have you said that I didn't hear?”

Celine put two glasses of milk roughly onto the table making the contents inside splash out.

Lisle was silent for a moment. The bribing movement stopped. He felt his throat get stuck. For a moment he cleared his throat trying to expel the awkwardness that suddenly came. “It....there's nothing between us. It all started with a ridiculous deal. I think Mr. Kent just wants to play around. Even if what you're saying is true now, if I'm already in love with her, will it mean anything to her?” Lisle spoke slowly while suppressing the pain in the corner of the heart.

“What can I do? We are the land and the clouds. Like the earth and the sky. The distance is too far.” Lisle put down her tablespoon and became tasteless. While Lisle sometimes found nothing to be a morning stomach bump, the man would eat at his big dinner table with a variety of foods in abundance. As Lisle stumbled across the dusty streets of Black Mountain, Mr. Kent was sitting comfortably on the top floor of the Diamond Group building, staring at the cityscape at his feet. That guy won't see Lisle from up there. He may have forgotten a girl named Lisle, a girl he often denounced as a stupid girl.

“Do something. Anything. Make him see you again. Instead of hiding and becoming more invisible.” Celine was very upset to see Lisle who looked desperate.

“You want me to do what?” Lisle sounded tired.

“Back working at Diamond Group,” Celine said advising.

“I've stopped from there. Everyone there already thinks of me as Mr. Kent's lover. It would feel very uncomfortable for me to work there.”

“Near mr David. He'll take you one day to Mr. Kent,” Celine's proposal again.

“No. I don't dare. I don't want to either. Celine, stop. Don't talk about this anymore. I want to forget it. I want to focus and move on with my life..” Lisle pleaded with a clear voice.

Celine finally gave up. She no longer gave any ideas for Lisle to do something to fight for her feelings. “Lisle, do you regret leaving Mr Kent?” Celine asked suddenly. According to Celine, Lisle is now regretting her decision to leave the man.

But Celine did not think Lisle's answer would be different from her guess.

“No. I have no regrets. I am now free from an unclear relationship. It feels sure to be more painful to be on the side of someone you love while that person just thinks of us as his toys.” Lisle looked very sure as she said that.

“But Lisle, is it true that he was just playing around with you?”
