A bright morning, the birds chirp. Welcomed the golden rays that appeared at the boundary of the horizon. The cool air was fresh as Shanum opened the window of his room. The beauty of the morning can no longer cover the inner unrest of Shanum. Tired from sleep, haunting his face this morning.
All this chaos began in the morning, when he was seventeen years old. Shanum awoke from an extraordinary dream, and felt as if his vocal cords were being pulled from place, his eyes felt gouged out of their sockets, and pushed back into place.
The pain spread out, like a wave that spread too quickly in his veins, and burst through his skin. Shanum screamed, each scream felt like shards of glass scraping his throat. His tears flowed, powerless to stem the horrors that whack.
A rowdy sound was heard entering Shanum's room. Raisa and Dimas race to Shanum. The couple looked worried hearing the screams of the princess. "Shanum, what's wrong? You okay, son?" Raisa-her mother approached, pulling Shanum into her arms, while rubbing her back. While his father was pensive, he stood behind his mother while looking confusedly at Shanum.
He sighed, then slowly sat down next to his mother. "Princess, dear." came the voice of the father, very gentle and attentive. Mom let go of her embrace, they both looked at her. Shanum wiped away the remains of his tears.
"You can tell me what happened to you?" ask dad. Shanum tried to talk, "Aa-yah, I. I had a dream, it was so bad. I..fear A-yah!" Shanum explained stammering, the tears again melted down to Shanum's smooth cheeks. "Shh, calm down, baby. There's Mom and Dad here. It was just a dream, Princess." Dad hugged Shanum tightly.
Since that day, dreams have changed. Surprisingly Shanum did not go crazy because of it. It was as if there was a shield in mind that kept him sane. But deep down, Shanum wanted to be normal. Live the days like a girl her age, chat with friends, and fall in love. Not haunted by a dream he doesn't know what it means.
Shanum turned his head, someone entered the room. She stood at the door, smiling at him. "Shanum, are you awake? Why not shower? It's not like you're going to the library today. I spoke to Mom last night." Mom approached while rubbing her head.
"Yes Ma'am, this is Shanum taking a bath" She smiled, not wanting mom to know her anxiety. "Finished shower straight down yeah. Mom's waiting in the dining room. Breakfast is ready at the table. I even had breakfast first," said Mother. "Well Mom, Shanum's coming down, after the shower."
Mom smiled at Shanum's reply. He immediately headed for the bathroom, not wanting to be late. Shanum promised his two best friends. They will wait in the library, and plan to look for reference materials for college assignments.
"Mom, Shanum go first." Shanum said goodbye while kissing his mother's right hand. "Be careful, son." Shanum nodded, immediately started his beloved Brio car and drove away towards the library. Arriving at the library parking lot, Shanum searched for the whereabouts of his two best friends. His eyes looked to the right and to the left, paying attention to every corner, but still did not find the two girls.
Suddenly, "Dor..." The two laughed heartily at Shanum's shocked face. "Damn it, just surprise me. I may be reduced in age because of you guys," Shanum's bully. "Yes he is angry, please forgive N**doro, please servant not in Karate yes," said one of Shanum's friends while showing his face. Surely the appearance of the face was a mere charade, they were often nosy, innate from birth. Shanum sneered, saying, "It's already ah, let's have it! Continue to look for materials." "Ready Boss!" Both of his friends answered.
Just now they want to step up, all of a sudden, "Eh, psst-psst..." One of Shanum's friends, Adiva, gave a sign while rolling his eyes in one direction. His mouth was muttering while advancing his chin. "Open the Diva, speak clearly, do not use sign language," said Farah. "Well at one o'clock, that's see! You guys are t*elmi once anyway." Shanum and Farah looked in the direction that the Diva pointed at. They looked at each other, and remained confused. "Well, even so pensive. That, the man who wears white clothes makes it very anxious. I want to bite him."
Shanum rolled his eyeballs, and Farah sighed. "Oh, it's starting to crumble" whispered Farah. They both understand one hundred percent, their best friend can not see a slippery, handsome, and cute man. His eyes instantly shone, like a moth attracted by the light of a lamp.
"Come ladies, so don't you want to find the reference material?" ask Shanum. "Yes.yes, come on," replied Farah. While Diva is still stealing glances towards the man who made the anxiety earlier. "Diva, come!" Shanum pulls the Diva. They stepped into the library. Shanum opened his eyes. The difference in light made his eyes need to adjust. The atmosphere inside the library was very different from the outside. A soft musical sound was heard accompanying the coldness of the room.
"Later to sit here yeah, we'll search each other's literature." Shanum arranged their search. Farah and Diva nodded their heads. The library was so large, containing ceiling-high bookshelves, and tall windows that by day could radiate sunlight throughout the room.
Teak and mahogany furniture looks formal and sturdy dominating the bookshelves. There is also a large table with claw-shaped legs, and a leather sofa that looks comfortable, as well as matching chairs. Shanum read one by one a directional signboard containing the literature he wanted to search. He's heading for the shelves according to the material. Then browse through the shelves by shelves.
The book is called Golden Horde. It contains about the largest and longest dynasty of its existence in the reign of Chengis Khan. The history of the dynasty was preceded by one of Chengis Khan's sons, Jochi. He succeeded in becoming ruler in Western Siberia and the Kipcak Steppe. A prairie area in one of the Volga rivers and an arid Siberian region, there was the first city for the dynasty.
Shanum rubbed sheet by book in front of him. While seriously reading, Shanum stood up straight, looking around him. The fine hair on his neck stood up, bristling like an electric shock. His heart suddenly beat fast, and he felt himself being watched. Like a victim being stalked.
Shanum closed his eyes. His feathers were still standing, an ice-cold air rustling on his back. A swish that ambushed his neck, and made the pulse on his palm throb fiercely. With eyes wide open he looked around the room.
Nothing had changed, the bookshelves around him remained the same as before. "Shanum, you've been bouncing" he whispered. There was nothing or anyone with him here, except his exaggerated delusion.
Shanum shook his head, trying to erase that imagination. "That's weird," Shanum murmured, his body still shivering. "Geez, I'm really starting to go crazy."
He closed the book and went back to the table where the gathering had been. Farah was there reading. There was a pile of books in front of him. Shanum approached Farah and Diva, they looked as if they were reading. Shanum patted Farah on the shoulder, revealing his presence. "Oh hai Shanum, how is it? Got the reference book?" farah asked while looking at him. Shanum shook his head and smiled sadly. Because of the incident earlier, Shanum was no longer interested in looking for a reference book.
"I found a book that had nothing to do with our work. Hmm.I keep reading that. So, haven't got the reference book." Shanum showed me the book about the Golden Horde earlier. "Oh yes, then you just help sort out these books. I and Farah had a lot, it was on the table" Diva pointed to the books neatly arranged on the table. "Okay, I'll help you pick ya." Farah and Diva nodded, then smiled. They continued to do their work, and were until noon in the library.
Next, when you are in the library parking lot. "Lunch first yuk," asked Diva. "Where do you want to eat?" Farah looked at her two best friends. "Ke cafe opposite yuk yuk." Shanum pointed to the location of the cafe opposite the library. "The car stays parked here, what do you bring, move there?" ask Diva. "Put it here, bother if you have to move the car again" said Shanum. They headed to the cafe across the street.
The cafe was very crowded, many spent their lunch time there. Maybe because the location is close to the campus so this cafe is visited by many students or students. The three girls get a table in the corner of the room, with views overlooking the back garden that is really beautiful.
"Diva, Farah, I'm sorry I couldn't focus on helping you find reference material." Shanum apologized while sipping his ordered drink. "Yes, you were seriously reading a book about konde." Farah said while chewing her food. Shanum looked confused, but then he understood Farah's intentions. Especially after seeing that face.
"Ish, Horde, not konde, I want to use konde, '" Shanum corrected. Farah smiled widely. "The name is a little hard to call yes." Diva laughed when she heard it. "Ah, that's Farah alone who likes to miss the word," Shanum replied as he rolled his eyeballs.
Then Shanum recounted the creepy incident when he found the book. They're shocked. "Seriously, how goosebumps huh. The library is haunted. I don't want to go there anymore, creepy!" Diva spoke while rubbing her hands, showing her romantic feathers standing up.
"If I am even more curious, how can you feel familiar with the contents of the book. Have you ever been there?" ask Farah. "I don't know either, what I felt there just now confused me. I felt as if I saw the original image of the city, the shape of the building, the people, even the atmosphere of the market at the time was reflected in the corner of my eyes."
Diva and Farah listened while stunned, their mouths gaping. Their views were amazed. Not a single sound came out of their mouths. They're still gobsmacked. "Wow, I-I'm speechless." Farah shook her head. "Rubber, I'm also Speechless" said Diva.
"But I have a crazy idea, how about we just go there? I'm sure the historical legacy should still be preserved. At least if like here, there are still ruins. Maybe Shanum can get a clue starting from there. We'll be on semester break anyway. All holidays, right" suggested Farah.
Diva gave her thumbs a sign of agreement. Shanum smiled brightly, Farah's suggestion was like a cooling water that could reduce his heartbreak. They throw each other smiles. They agreed to give permission to their parents first, and will inform each other further.
