Shanum heard the sound of laughter not far from him.
"He was finally dead. I'm very satisfied. Very..very satisfied." The man laughed again and raved like crazy. The man who was none other than Taban, rejoiced at Khan's death.
While the enemy was rejoicing, Shanum was wallowing in loss, not expecting the spell to be dangerous. If you know the consequences like this, you better find another way.
Shanum rubbed Khan's face and spread his head over the man's chest. He paid no heed to his surroundings and his safety. He forgot the enemy was still in their midst, and the danger was certainly still threatening.
Although his position was always guarded by his three female bodyguards, Shanum should have noticed Avraam who was now stepping trying to get closer. The man was still obsessed with having Shanum, especially with the current circumstances, when her husband had died.
Just a few steps away Shanum was within his reach, Avraam had already been blocked by the three beautiful protective women of Shanum. They showed a flat face with swords drawn in front of Avraam's face.
Avraam grinned, he cast his magic spell and attacked the three women. But the spell he unleashed could be broken easily by them. Avraam continued to attack, even diverting them by trying to take the three away from Shanum. But in vain, they kept fighting on the spot, not being fooled in the slightest.
While the other Great Lords and their companions were always on alert to the fight, while showing their sorrowful faces towards Shanum. They were still wondering about Khan's absence, but still couldn't bring themselves closer to check on him. Only Khan's invisible energy and other signs could be used as a benchmark by them.
Shanum felt a silence in his head. He was in his own world, paying no heed to Taban's crazy ravings. Neither was the fight between Avraam and his three protectors. Shanum is numb. His head remained on Khan's chest, looking for a beat that was not heard.
Sergei finally couldn't stand it. He approached Shanum and gently patted Shanum on the shoulder. "Shanon... We have to step back. Go back to the base and think of a way to end this war, to get out of this place. Khan should be buried, Shanum. If he's gone. Me and the others have put up shields..."
Suddenly Shanum looked up and looked towards Sergei. He brushed the man's arm hard. His eyes were staring at the nyalang with an angry expression. "No one can bury my husband. He's alive" Shanum chanted.
Sergei. "Khan is dead, Shanum. You have to let it go. Can't you see from the romance of his face, and also his energy."
"No! Don't you ever dare speak those lies to me."
Shanum then looked back at Khan. He began to shake the man's body, shouting his name, continuing to shake it as he continued to shout.
When he saw no response from Khan, he hugged the body back tightly as he began to sob.
"No... Adri. Don't do this to me. Banguun... Please wake up, Adri. Ilove you. Don't leave me." The sound of roars mixed with Shanum's cries sounded heartbreaking. Everyone who heard it also showed a sad expression, some even shed tears.
Avraam who was fighting, suddenly stopped his action. He stared towards Shanum with a tightened face holding back a huff. Avraam disliked Shanum crying over Khan and yelling to express his love for the man.
Avraam slowly retreated, returning to his army, abandoning his fight. For the time being, he was forced to hold back, while looking for a way to bring Shanum back to his clan.
Sergei is still standing. He could not bear to see the destruction that radiated in Shanum's eyes. Watching the woman's life begin to fade.
Chinua slowly approached. He nudged Sergei. The woman could no longer hold on to her place and saw Shanum self-destruct. Chinua knew that sooner or later Shanum would follow his soulmate, and it was still preventable today.
"You have any idea how to reverse that spell? And bring her back?" ask Chinua.
Sergei rubbed his face. "I don't understand the spell. It seems that Shanum studied black magic. All I know is that black magic is very difficult to control. Supposedly the one who could answer this was that guy named Avraam. But, I'm not sure he'll be willing to help."
Chinua grunted loudly. "Well, that guy is actually being benefited at the moment. There's no way he'd take that luck off."
"Actually I want to check on Khan. But, how could I do that? Shanum won't let me near" Sergei said with a sad face.
Chinua took a deep breath, then he lowered his head. He tried to talk to Shanum. The woman said the words to resuscitate Shanum. But all those words could not be heard by Shanum, because all Shanum could hear right now was I love you, which was not a mere statement but a farewell from Khan before the man was gone.
And everyone's sure, Khan already knows that. The man knew there was no remaining power, and stopping him would be as good as thwarting Shanum's plans. Khan gave up everything. He sacrificed for the safety of his father-in-law as well as his wife.
Chinua began to get impatient, he tried to pull Shanum, but the woman let out a groan or scream again, she rebelled. Chinua gave up, he let go. Just like Sergei earlier, Chinua did not manage to keep Shanum away from Khan's side. Again they failed to check the man who was lying stiff.
Shanum was still sobbing, he thought he couldn't live like this, couldn't bear to go through this, couldn't breathe. Can't be alone without his soul mate.
Then, another hand touched Khan's neck. Trying to find a pulse there. The hand did not try to keep Shanum's grip on Khan's chest. That hand even gently rubbed Shanum's head.
Shanum let go of his embrace and looked up, he saw Eej was smiling wryly. Tear spots were visible in the corners of his eyes.
Shanum grabs Eej's hand, then he hugs her tightly, pleads, begging-
Eej distanced his body, shaking his head. The tears on his face were flowing more and more. To Shanum and the others he said, "He's really gone."
Shanum smothered his mouth while sobbing. "I'm sorry, Eej. It's all because of me, it's my fault. If I don't cast that damned spell..."
"He's..." Eej said hoarsely, then shook his head, closing his eyes. "Of course he's going to do this, sacrifice himself," he said, leaning towards himself rather than others.
"Please... Please help her get up," Shanum said, without knowing who she was talking to. His fingers scratched Khan's shirt, trying to touch the heart behind it. It's like all this is just a dream, not reality.
Hands holding Shanum. Everything was covered in blood and injured, but it felt soft. Shanum tried to pull away, but the hands held him firmly as Sofia knelt beside him, "I'm so sorry."
Words that break it. Tearing it down in a way that he didn't think could still tear it down, severing the strands and binders. Shanum could no longer deny it.
"Shanum. ikhlaskan." Eej gently rubbed Shanum's hair. "He did this for you. Just like a soul mate should do," Eej added.
Shanum closed his eyes. The pain he felt pierced his heart. Shanum was sure he would go crazy without the man. The inner bond remains a fragment and a shred. Flitted in the wind of the image inside him. Shanum grabbed him, tugging at him, as if he was about to answer.
Be quiet. Quiet, silence.
Shanum held onto the fragments and shredded them, scavenging the void hiding behind them.
Be quiet.
Shanum looked at Chinua, his lips pulled stiffly. Dario's view. Then Eej. And Sergei, and Sofia, Zuunaa sobbed at Oriod's side. The last was Ulagan. Shanum growled, "I don't want to live."
Their faces are empty.
Shanum shouted to them, "I DON'T WANT TO LIVE. KILL ME."
"Please..," said Shanum, breathing heavily. "I can't live without him."
"You have to live, Shanum. You can live without him. Like I can live until now, even though my soulmate has left me," said Eej carefully. "Do it for him, Shanum. Don't let the sacrifice go to waste."
"I don't care. Do it." When they did not move, Shanum exerted his strength, preparing to force it into their minds, regardless of the rules and laws he had broken. Shanum doesn't care, if it can--
"Shanum, our business is not done yet." The loud voice broke the tense atmosphere within the group.
Shanum turned his head and found Avraam screaming from behind the protector. The woman's face suddenly turned stiff. His jaw tightened, and his eyes emitted a great fury that was currently still trying to be restrained by him.
Sergei stepped forward. Slowly he raised his hand and opened the shield. "If you want to die, fight them. Let you die with honor."
Shanum nodded, his face determined to meet his death, through the intermediary of the enemy forces. If the universe granted her wish, she would be very happy to be able to catch up with her husband.
Shanum saw Avraam and his cronies. Even Sintai who was sure with her real face, as a woman named Tunaya, stood up gallantly without being tied up like that.
"Ah, I finally saw you. Let's go back to our house, Shanum. You're free now" said Avraam. The man smiled gently towards Shanum.
"Who are you to say that? I'm not yours, Avraam. And I'm not going with you without a fight." Shanum approached the man.
Avraam snarling. "You're mine. The fucking guy's dead. What are you still expecting."
Shanum grinned. "I belong only to my husband, until the end of my life. He's my soul mate."
Avraam. He may be very surprised to hear Khan is his soul mate. The man looked towards Shanum's group. Observe them all-and find some of them grinning.
There was no kindness on the man's face. There is no mercy. Avraam's eyes flashed with anger. He feels fooled. Avraam knew about the soul mate's bond. They are not separated. I would do anything for my partner.
And, Avraam is fed up. Because the bond problem is what makes his own grandmother willing to leave his grandfather. Throw away his own clan and his descendants.
"alright. It seems that I'm the only one here who's late to find out." There was something moving in Avraam's eyes. But not the good. Not even an emotion at all.
Avraam shouted, to his soldiers to return to their original position, a black shadow puff spread from him.
Shanum saw Taban and Sarni joining the ranks. Both seemed enthusiastic to launch an attack.
Shanum looked back and found the troops from their stronghold were already preparing. His comrades-in-arms returned to their respective positions. Only Eej and his three protectors stood not far from him.
Shanum was looking for something, where the last Khan's body was.
"They've moved it to a safe place, Shanum," Eej said as he stepped closer.
Shanum. An unreasonable dilemma struck him. He felt a little objection to being away from the body of his soul mate. But he couldn't possibly have brought her along in this battle either.
Shanum closed his eyes, he held onto her. On his body, on the shred of their soul ties.
Stay here, Shanum begged in their bond. Stay by my side.
A golden light lit up all over Shanum's body.
I love you, Adri. Stay by my side.
Shanum screamed, his body floating in the air. His hair fluttered and the entire light wrapped around his body in his astonishing brilliance.
His eyes were open, a golden-brown glint there, being the same as Khan's eyes. A soul necklace shone on his neck, along with the bursting of magic energy from within Shanum's body.
All who were there froze, not daring to move. They looked at Shanum with astonished expressions.
The scream stopped. Silence spreads. In silence... Shanum started casting spells. A spell that emerged from the depths of his soul. A spell that brings with it pain, sacrifice and endless love.
The golden light began to spread. Incredibly binding one enemy army after another in twists like cocoons. The light also shot to Khan's stronghold. Causing panic when there are some soldiers who are bound.
The spell continues. And in return, a whisper was heard throughout the field. Colorful light appeared from all directions. From the ground, from the trees, from the water and from the horizon.
Shanum returned to the ground. The sound of the spell stopped. Then his chest rose, raising his head in unison while looking one way at his right side.
Shanum was unable to move, unable to breathe
Khan is seen stepping slowly towards her, followed by two women. And one of them Shanum knows very deeply. She is Khan's grandmother, Nekhii.
Everyone is flabbergasted. Not just about the revival of Khan, but also the two women who seemed to be recognized by some who were there.
"grandmother..." Shanum heard Avraam say out loud.
"Mother..." Back a puzzled voice mixed in confusion sounded from the other lips. Sergei stared doubtfully at one of the women.
Shanum was still frozen in place. Dare not to take your eyes off. Although many voices were heard around him. His gaze was fixed on the figure of a man who looked at him deeply. Only the figure of the man could take his entire concentration at this moment.
Shanum. His eyes are back on. It was as if he was doubting his vision at this moment. Shanum did not dare to hope. He was so afraid that all this was just his illusion due to the shock he was in.
Without a word, the woman squeezed and knelt down. It was enough that his mind was tortured so deeply. He could no longer endure, even his sanity was being tested.
Tears flowed on the pretty skin of her face as a pair of legs stood straight in front of her. Shanum kept his head down, sobbing and clenching his hands on his knees.
Then the pair of legs bent, and went on their knees. The warm hand of the owner of the leg rubbed Shanum's cheek. Removing her tears, pulling her into the embrace.
Shanum could not lift his head, could do nothing but hug him, enjoy every heartbeat, breath and rumble of his voice as the man said hoarsely, "I'm back, Shasha."
