Shanum was still glued to the spot with trembling legs, fed up with being disappointed. While gulping through his hot throat, he pushed himself to stare towards Khan. His eyes looked at Khan's eyes and saw the radiance of horror there.
"Shanon! You okay?" Eej cut off the eye contact of the two. The woman threw a sharp glare at her son, before taking Shanum away with her. Shanum who was still in a daze followed just like that.
"You see, Shanum. That man doesn't deserve you. He hurt you repeatedly."
Shanum heard the sound of Avraam screaming loudly from behind his back. And he also heard a sharp snatch from Chinua, telling Avraam to cover his rotten mouth. Then there was no sound of his screams anymore. It seems Chinua managed to silence the man.
As long as his feet stepped, Shanum remained silent a thousand languages. His thoughts and facial expressions were blank. The effects of Khan's treatment seem to shock the woman.
Eej took Shanum to his tent. After being inside Shanum's knees weakened and Eej caught him, lowered him to the floor and hugged him while he cried.
"I'm sorry my son, Shanum. Although I'm ashamed to have said this to you repeatedly." Eej sighed as she stretched her embrace.
"My son likes to get out of control. Especially when it comes to the person he loves" Eej said, looking at Shanum in a soft voice, trying to calm his daughter-in-law down.
The arm that Shanum was circling on his own body tightened. "Do you mind taking me out of this place, Eej?"
"Gosh, no. Of course not, Shanum." Then Eej took a deep breath. "But are you sure?" eej asked hesitantly, worrying about his son's reaction if he heard Shanum was leaving. His son is going to get worse and he knows how much Khan is going to torture himself.
The experience with Sintai hundreds of years ago is quite an example of the weight of his son's downturn. Somehow for this time, if with his soul mate. Perhaps his son would act hundreds of times more pitiful compared to when with Sintai.
Shanum looked up at Eej, his eyes glazed over. "I don't know what to do. I'm disappointed and scared."
Eej sighed, his brown eyes dark and solemn. "I think you have to decide if you'll be able to accept it. Some mistakes can't always be corrected. You just have to choose, want to keep going or dodge."
"Data..." Shanum reached out and touched the woman's shoulder. For Shanum, Eej was like his own mother. He loved that woman.
Eej caught his hand and squeezed it. "I'll be here if you need me. Although Khan is my son, I will still reprimand him if he's guilty."
Khan was sitting pensively when Shanum came to his tent. The man looked at her and sadness plunged into her stomach. Not for him, but for him. Shanum had never seen such a desperate person, as devastating as that.
The gloom in her beautiful eyes frightened him. There is no life in him. Khan was deathly pale with dark shadows on his handsome face.
"What are you doing?" shanum whispered in a nervous tone.
Khan stood away, turning his back, as if he wanted to be as far away from Shanum as possible. "You better not be here."
His chest felt squeezed strong. The man did not accept his presence. It seems only he wants to solve this problem.
"Did you kick me out?" tanya Shanum raspy. "Don't you owe me an explanation" he added with a step closer. Shanum looked at the back of the man he loved grimly.
"That was before I abused you like that!" khan snapped, showing the first sign of spirit for more than an hour he was alone inside the tent without even speaking a single word, to anyone.
Shanum heard from Eej, the man was showing the initial signs of torturing himself. And if it wasn't for Eej's pleas to save her son, maybe Shanum wouldn't have dared to show himself like this. A man who nearly harassed her out of public anger.
"You don't realize it, Adri. It all started with my words too. So we're both guilty here."
"You won't be a victim anymore, Shasha. That's what I hurt you and. I almost did to you..." Khan hit the table in front of him until it split in two. Then his shoulders bowed in a way that made Shanum even more worried.
"If you do that, then Avraam wins, and we lose. That man has managed to separate us. Is that what you want?"
Shanum saw his words lunging at Khan. The bond between them suddenly flared up, as if someone had revived the bond after it had previously dimmed, so as to remove all shadows away from their souls.
"If you leave me now, I think it'll be easier for Avraam to win that challenge without any effort."
"How can I stay by your side after everything I've done? Why do you want me to stay with you?" Khan turned around and looked at Shanum with a longing so great that Shanum's tears rose again.
"I'd rather be killed by that man than hurt you, Shasha."
Shanum bit his lips until blood re-soaked his lips. "You're not going to do it again, Adri. I believe you."
"You're not sure, Shasha," he said hoarsely. "I can see it on your face. I fear. Afraid of myself. Afraid to hurt you again and do something that will destroy both of us."
Khan's right. He still half-believes. After being repeatedly hurt by him.
I knew that dark, rough side of him would always be there. The darkness that arises from experiencing disappointment and betrayal. Attempted assassinations of many times from his enemies. And the fear of losing because of being abandoned by a loved one.
His relationship with Khan is drama and emotional, amazing and beyond reason. The soul bond that unites them also opens up things that make them both fragile and dangerous. And it will deteriorate without trust.
Now that Shanum knew it, he was resuscitated very loudly by the circumstances and the fear that emanated from Khan's face.
Khan put his hands in his hair. "Shasha, I-I"
"I don't blame you, Adri."
Khan growling. He looked at Shanum with a look that resembled a frustrated look. Shanum did not know if the gaze was for him or for himself. "How can you say it?"
"Because that's the truth."
"You don't understand. I have hurt you repeatedly. Even now I have prepared you to be a widow, Shasha. The possibility of me living in that fight is still uncertain."
Shanum took a sharp breath. "Why can't Duongan Sakhai's rules be changed? Shouldn't you clan leaders have the authority to change it. Especially about the rule of fighting to the death to pick up one of you."
"That rule cannot be changed. Because from the moment Avraam spoke Duongan Sakhai's words, the binding spell on the rules of the fight had already worked."
Shanum was stunned, then he shook his head violently. "You people in this magical world are a bunch of crazy people. To the extent that the fight alone should be given a binding spell."
"Yes. And unfortunately I have to accept it," sighed Shanum tired.
"It seems that you were unknowingly impressed by the man named Avraam, not wanting him to end up in death, Shasha," Khan said bitterly.
"Stop that accusation, Adri. I know you're disappointed and hurt, but venting your baseless accusations on me will only make you more hurt, Adri."
"I don't want two brothers to be killed one of them just because the ambition of a useless moron" Shanum said in a muffled voice holding back anger.
Shanum walked over to Khan, wanting to get rid of his fear with a touch. The woman felt her husband was keeping too far and far away from her. As if the bond in his soul has growled since later asking for closeness with his partner.
Khan raised one hand as if to prevent it as Shanum got closer. "I can't, Shasha."
"Don't fight me on this, Adri. Please just. I'd be worried half-dead if you acted like this."
"You'll be even more anxious if I stay by your side." Khan looked at Shanum, looking lost, angry and filled with a terrible longing.
His eyes apologized to Shanum, but he would not accept it if he tried to forgive him. The man was punishing himself, just like Shanum had predicted.
Shanum forced his way closer and clasped his hand, blocking his hand when he wanted to pull it off.
"We can definitely get through this, Adri," Shanum promised Khan in a confident tone of voice.
"I love you. And wouldn't be able to accept if you'd stayed away from me."
Khan flinching. Jaw hardens. His eyes looked foggy holding back the rampage in his soul.
"Directions, Adri. Stop torturing yourself like this, 'cause I feel it too."
Khan gave up, he let Shanum pull the grip, turning to wrap his hands around his waist. The woman heaved a sigh of relief, when she found the warmth of Khan's body returning to her.
"We're not going to let that guy win, Adri. Even though he's your cousin, I still wouldn't be willing for him to get in the way of our happiness."
"Shaa." Khan held Shanum in his arms. His embrace blocked his breath. "I'm sorry. I'm tormented. Please just. Ii'm sorry... I can't lose you." His trembling hand caressed Shanum's backbone.
It was as if all the pain and fear had burst out from the man. He was no longer able to cover it from Shanum.
"You won't lose me. Because I chose you, Adri. All the things, good and bad, I've received you with the air."
Shanum's eyes closed, focusing on Khan's taste. The aroma. Given that she had been close to losing him before, and this time she was determined, whoever she would never let separated herself from her husband.
"I'll hurt you again, Shasha. If I fail in this fight."
"Shh... We'll be fine, Adri. Believe it."
Khan turned his head and kissed Shanum's forehead gently. "I'm afraid what's gonna happen to me will ruin you."
"I'll stay intact, Adri." Shanum's skin rippled under Khan's hand caress on his back. "Because I'm sure you'll come back to me."
Khan paused for a moment, his breath hitting Shanum's lips hard. Then he pulled his head back, replaced it with his fingers. "I'm sorry I made these lips hurt."
Along with Khan's gentle rubbing on the surface of his lips, Shanum felt a soothing gust of cool air enter into the lining of his lips. Then the pain in the lips disappeared.
The two lovebirds looked at each other with astonished expressions.
"Are you thinking what I'm thinking too, honey?" khan said serak.
Shanum nodded. "Yes, you've healed the wound on my lips, Adri."
"And how can I do that?" khan asked again still with astonished faces mixed with admiration.
"You can do it, if you absorb my powers now, Adri."
Khan smiled broadly. "Then I'm sure I'll win this fight."
Shanum smiled faintly. He closed the bond between them and said inwardly, Yes, Adri. You're gonna win. And I'll make sure of that.
All night Shanum could not sleep well. She always moved restlessly in her sleep, even the tight embrace of her husband could not stop her turmoil.
Shanum dreamed he was walking in the middle of an illusionary field and circling lost in it without finding a way out. Somehow he could suddenly be in that place. All of that raised a lot of question marks in his mind. If all of that was just a dream, why would he feel the fog as if trying to swallow him into the void.
Shanum was in a frenzy, his magic power could not help him at all. The power suddenly disappeared, as if the fog was drawing down its power to nothing.
In his fear, Shanum yelled at Khan's name repeatedly until his throat was hoarse. However, all that was just a futility, he still did not manage to get out of the fog.
In each of his quick steps, Shanum felt the silence in the mist as if it was suffocating him, and made him realize that the despair he felt could numb his soul and body quickly.
Shanum could no longer walk, sitting limply on a dense bed filled with fog. He was shivering, his entire body trembling uncontrollably. He began to feel the shadows of fear hidden in his soul come to the surface. Shanum begins to experience a phase of hallucinations, the influence of the fog.
And when he felt that madness would soon swallow him whole, he heard a voice. The voice of the man who seemed to give a strength to him to get up and step back.
Shanum moved slowly, he followed the path of the voice and ended up on the edge of the forest bordering the illusory field. He turned his head back and was fixated, moving among the mist Shanum saw the image of a figure who was looking at him fixedly.
"Please save my son from destruction. I believe only you can do it. My son is like me, he can conquer this Illusory Field." The man smirked a faint smile, then moved back into the mist.
