Linger
A Story About a Different Home

"Vin?" Irina called out slowly. Gavin who was lying in his arms just cleared his throat in response. A few minutes ago, they spent time lying on the bed and hugging each other. Let go of the longing that was saved for days.

"Udah night. You don't want to go home?"

Gavin raised his head so that their gazes met. Then Gavin's gaze turned to the clock on the nightstand next to the bed. Half-twelve o'clock at night. Of course Gavin had to go home because Kalea must have been waiting for him. But, Gavin still wants to be here. She still misses Irina.

"I still miss you, Rin." He said while drowning his face in Irina's chest. His hands hugged the woman's waist tightly. "A little while, yeah." Continue with a muffled voice.

"I don't mind you here. I'm glad you could stay over." Irina commented a smile. Just imagining Gavin staying overnight can make his heart pound. But of course the pounding should not be maintained longer because Irina realized Gavin had to go home.

"But you have to go home now. Don't make Kalea suspicious."

After hearing Kalea's name back on the air, Gavin not only lifted his head but immediately withdrew from Irina's embrace. He sits on the bed. Staring wistfully at Irina's grey bead before exhaling out loud.

"I ask you not to leave me, but I always leave you." Gavin said in a lethargic voice. He didn't lie when he said that. He regretted having to leave the woman he loved to return to another woman he also loved.

Gavin felt his head begin to throb at the thought of how chaotic his life was going now. His inability to choose one between the two has caused so much trouble, but he still always refuses to be sober.

"I can wait." Irina said with a smile that tried to be singled out as natural as possible. "It doesn't matter how far you go, I'll wait here because I know you'll always come back." Overconfident? Just think of it that way. Irina doesn't want to bother.

"I'm sorry, and thank you." Gavin kissed Irina's lips and gently stroked her hair strands. "I promise I'll always go back to you."

Irina nodded her head. Smile was flanked wider followed by warm kisses that he put to the thick lips Gavin. Over time, the kiss turned into a long movement that made the two people sip each other sweet taste from each other's lips.

Gavin pulled Irina's nape to deepen their pagutan. The eyes of both of them had been closed and they were increasingly drowning in the atmosphere.

Until finally, Irina withdrew first in order to scoop up oxygen that had begun to thin. With my glare glued to Gavin's dark bead, Irina scooped up as much oxygen as she could. Her chest rose and fell, she was exhausted, but the sweetness left behind from Gavin's lips made her smile crackle.

"Mine." Irina kissed Gavin's lips once more before pulling away and letting the man out of his place.

"I'm here again tomorrow." Gavin said as he tidied up his slightly tangled shirt. He had been standing at the side of the bed, staring at Irina who was sitting on the bed with a longed look. To be honest, her feelings for Irina were still as great as ever. The pounding is still there and Gavin is confident he won't lose this feeling easily.

"Yes." Yeah." Irina answered slowly.

Then, Gavin landed a kiss on Irina's forehead. "See you, baby." Her speech.

After that, there was no more conversation. Gavin breezes out of Irina's room and refuses when the woman intends to drive her forward. Let her walk on her own, because if Irina followed her to the front door, she would probably spend more time sipping those lips once more.

Irina's smile still did not fade even minutes after Gavin left her. Then, in a very quiet voice, he said. "Sorry, Na. Turns out it's not time for me to let go of Gavin."

...****************...

Upon reaching home, Gavin discovers all the lights have been turned off. It made him think that Kalea was asleep. Given that the woman also does not like to stay up late.

On his way home from Irina's apartment, Gavin checked his phone and found a missed call from Kalea. Really just one. It was as if she was unwilling to provoke him with other calls and text messages just to ask where he was.

If this were anyone else, Gavin would assume that he was not cared for. But because of this Kalea, Gavin knew that the woman just didn't want to look annoying.

Gavin chuckled as he imagined how Kalea's face would look when he was worried about having to call her again or not. If the habit is still the same as before, surely the woman had time to walk back and forth while biting her fingernails while thinking about what steps to take next.

"Gold." Gavin muttered involuntarily. I don't know since when, he started to like to label Kalea with that word. Because in reality, Kalea is adorable.

Then, Gavin's footsteps that had originally been swayed casually came to a halt as his eyes caught the figure of Kalea lying on top of the living room sofa.

"Kal," he called slowly while rubbing the cold cheek of Kalea.

Kalea wriggled softly feeling the warmth emanating from Gavin's palm. He opened his eyes slowly then smiled faintly when he found Gavin's face in front of him.

"Have you come home?" ask her with a hoarse voice. Slowly Kalea woke up from her sleep and began to tidy up her messy strands of hair.

"Are you waiting for me here?" gavin asked while helping Kalea tidy up her hair.

Kalea nodded innocently, making Gavin sigh heavily due to the guilt feeling that suddenly filled her chest cavity.

"Why not wait in the room?"

"I thought you were going home spit." Say Kalea as it is. She did not expect that Gavin would be home this late.

"I'm sorry, yeah, I made you wait. My job's piled up, so I'm forced to overtime."

"It's okay, Gavin. No need to apologize." Kalea lowered her legs from the sofa. Moving leaning his body towards Gavin. Then, his hand moved rubbing Gavin's head, making the owner forced to hold his breath because he was not ready for the sudden movement.

"Definitely tired, huh?" kalea asked with a soothing smile. "Udah eat? Want me to cook you something?" bargained for. But Gavin immediately replied with a headband.

"I'm not hungry." Gavin grabbed Kalea's hand that was still rubbing her head. "I'm going to sleep, Kal." He said while tightly grasping Kalea's hand.

"Well, let's go to sleep." Kalea was about to stand up, but Gavin held her back, causing her confusion. "She wants to sleep?"

"Can he sleep with a hug? I need an energy charge."

Actually, Gavin doubted Kalea would allow it. Given that the woman still applies the two-meter distance guard rule.

However, the doubt disappeared as Kalea nodded her head. "Can."

"Can you really?" ask Gavin not to believe it.

"Yes, Gavin. Can."

Gavin excitement. So excited, he moved suddenly lifted Kalea's body into a sling to make his wife scream in shock.

"Gavin!"

Gavin did not answer. He also did not mind when Kalea threw punches at his chest.

"I'm going down!"

But Gavin doesn't care. He continued walking up the stairs until they finally arrived at the room.

Gavin laid down Kalea's body slowly. Then after taking off the shoes, Gavin jumped up and went straight into Kalea's arms. He hid his face in the curve of Kalea's neck so that made the owner shudder amusedly.

"Good night, Kalea." Gavin's Brisks.

Kalea just smiled, then started patting Gavin's back exactly like a mother trying to latch her baby.
