Gavin soon followed Kalea into the room. As soon as the door was opened, he found the woman lying on her back, letting a thick blanket wrap her body to the shoulder, but the air conditioning had not been turned on at all.
"Kal?" call him after sitting on the edge of the bed.
Kalea did not answer. But Gavin clearly knew that she wasn't sleeping. So, Gavin climbed into the bed, moving quickly to turn the wife's body. Only to be made to freeze in place when finding Kalea's face already wet by tears. She was crying, for what reason.
"Hey, what would you like?" Gavin cupped Kalea's cheeks, trying to wipe the tears on her cheeks but in vain because Kalea's tears were still flowing, rushing, like a broken faucet.
"Kal, can you tell me what's happened to you? So I can help you," said Gavin. Trying to get Kalea to talk even though it looks like it will be very difficult.
"Don't want to tell me the same story? So, who do you want to tell? The mama? A carrel? Shall I call them?" cerocos Gavin is in a panic. He thought, it's okay if he's not the first person for Kalea to tell him about the problem this time, as long as the woman can pour out her heart freely and her crying can stop immediately.
But Kalea held back her hand as she was about to get up. All of a sudden, the woman got up and burst into his arms, making him even more frozen because the hug he gave this time felt different.
"Can you just leave me alone, Gavin? I'll be alone first." The whisper of Kalea from inside his arms.
After saying that, Kalea withdrew from within his arms. With a wet face and reddened eyes, Kalea looked up, fixedly looking at him.
"Can you please let me sleep alone tonight?"
Let Kalea sleep alone when her condition is like this? Gavin would have gone crazy if he had agreed to the woman's request. So, he immediately shook his head strongly.
"I can't leave you in this condition" he said. He took a deep breath and exhaled slowly, then returned to touch Kalea's cheek and once again tried to wipe away her tears. "If you don't want me near you first, it's okay, I can keep my distance first again. But I can't get out of this room, because I'm worried about your condition." He continued, hoping that Kalea would understand that she could not die the woman alone.
Gavin did not wait until Kalea answered, he got off the bed and walked towards the long sofa located in the corner of the room near the balcony.
"I can sleep here" he said.
Kalea gave no response. Then he laid himself back, this time facing the door, turning his back to Gavin who was busy guessing what happened to him.
...****************...
Until a few days after that day, Kalea was still reluctant to open her mouth. During the night Gavin also had to be willing to sleep on the sofa because Kalea was still reluctant to sleep together. Not only sleeping together, Gavin also realized that Kalea began to draw a clear line. The woman several times refused physical contact with him, even for the simplest, such as when she reached out with the intention to help the woman get out of the car.
Gavin exhaled loudly. It's Sunday, which she thought she could use to get Kalea to chat and ask about what happened to the woman over the past few days.
But in fact, he instead had to be forced to swallow disappointed because Kalea was cool with Karel and Mumu even since the woman first opened her eyes.
"Mas, Auntie's allowed in the room, yeah, take some dirty clothes to wash."
Gavin turned his head towards Bi Imah who had appeared from behind the kitchen door. He thought for a moment, then shook his head slowly.
"I was the one who washes, Bi."
"Loh, no, Mas. Kan, it's my job." Bi Imah said it was not good.
Finally, Bi Imah relented. The woman went back to the kitchen to do another job.
Gavin glanced at Kalea and Karel who were still playing in the living room, then he rushed up to their room.
Gavin walked towards the dirty laundry basket in the corner near the bathroom door, then pulled out the clothes from there for him to check the saru one by one before being brought down to wash. Just to make sure there is nothing left in the pocket.
Up to a few pieces of hers and Kalea's, it's still safe. Gavin found nothing when he reached into the bag. But when it came to the clothes that Kalea was wearing the night that the woman began to keep her distance, Gavin found a suspicious object.
Gavin carried the small object in front of his face, watching it closely. It was a flash, which seemed to be inside that thing that had made Kalea cry that night. Remembering the woman was crying after coming out of Papa's study.
Without thinking, Gavin threw Kalea's clothes in any direction and rushed to Papa's work room with the flash.
After sitting in a chair and turning on the laptop, Gavin immediately plugged the flash into the slot to check what was inside.
Just after the laptop finished reading the data and displaying all the contents in the flash in front of him, Gavin was made to hold his breath. Because, without playing one by one the videos that are there though, he already knows that the videos contain a moment of togetherness with Irina. And if it was true that Kalea had watched it, then it was only natural that the attitude of the woman had suddenly changed.
Now, Gavin has one question that's so distracting in his head. Wh who? Which bastard has sent this file to Kalea, and made the woman know the truth, but a little more will she solve it all?
Wh why? Even though he lived a little more he was able to live a normal life with Kalea. Why did this disaster come?
Not wanting to waste time guessing, Gavin immediately pulled the flash and then ran to the ridge out of Papa's study.
Gavin descended the stairs in a hurry, and when he reached the living room, there was already Mama and Papa joining Karel and Kalea.
"No need to stop overnight again, Kal?"
Gavin glanced at Mama who was sitting next to Kalea, confused by the question the woman had just asked.
"Yes, Gavin can use Papa's workspace. It's been a few days, hasn't it?" papa Sahut.
Gavin increasingly did not understand the situation. As he turned his gaze towards Karel to ask for an explanation, the young man also just sniffed his shoulders a sign that he did not understand either.
"Cannot. Gavin's work is a lot, and there are some files that are left at home. After all, it would have been more convenient if Gavin could work his job in his own study."
Gavin turned to look at Kalea, who happened to turn his head towards him. "Yes, right, Gavin?" ask the woman with a gaze that is too difficult to translate.
Not waiting for the answer to come out, Kalea got up from the sofa. "Kalea wants to settle first, the plan is we want to go home before Maghrib." Then the woman walked past him just like that and went up to the second floor.
While Gavin, made to be stunned to find the gazes of all the people there were turned straight towards him.
