Half an hour in the morning. When the drizzle that had fallen thinly began to turn into a heavy rain accompanied by lightning, Kalea decided to get out of the mattress and walk slowly towards the large glass door in her room. He fluttered the curtains, only to find a completely dark sky and droplets of water tamping down to the glass door before him. Across the street, tall trees planted along the streets of the residential complex seemed to sway, signifying how fierce the wind was hitting them.
Kalea closed her eyes for a moment, taking a deep breath to ease the commotion in her head that never subsided despite the various ways she had done. He sharpened his sense of hearing, trying to digest the rustling sound of rainwater that broke the silence of the night and hoped it could help him beat the noise in his head that was becoming more and more so.
After feeling better, Kalea opened her eyes. He closed the curtains and walked slowly to the dresser. He landed his butt on the chair, turned on a small yellowish lamp to light up his room which was pitch black because his sleeping lamp was broken and he had no time to repair it. Then, he stared at the reflection of himself inside the small mirror in front. Observing how the dark circles around his eyes began to appear clearer than they did a few days ago. Actually Kalea had tried to avoid sleeping until late at night, but for one reason or another, he always ended up having trouble sleeping.
Like tonight for example. Although he had laid his body on the bed since an hour and a half ago, but Kalea still could not close his eyes. He continued to move restlessly, repeatedly changing his sleeping position in hopes of finding a comfortable sleeping position so that he could immediately fall asleep. But the effort ended in vain, because instead of sleepy, he was even more awake.
Though today he has drained a lot of energy to serve the absurd behavior of Karel and Gavin who suddenly turned into a pair of buddies, and, which turned out to be much worse than watching the two humans fight each other. Not to mention Karel's brash behavior which makes him an impromptu masseuse and constantly acting strange just to prove that Mama loves him more than Kalea. After everything he went through, Kalea should be exhausted and able to sleep faster. But the truth is not so.
Actually, there are many things that usually make Kalea difficult to sleep. One of them is when he knows the next morning he will have an important event or he will travel far with Mama and Papa. The passionate and enthusiastic enthusiasm always make Kalea energy accumulated a lot and he became difficult to sleep. Other reasons are usually not far from Karel. When they are involved in a fierce quarrel that does not manage to reach the word peace until they separate and return to their respective homes, Kalea will also experience a more severe sleep disorder. Where all night he could spend crying over their quarrel, then continued with anger because he felt Karel annoying and did not want to give up. If so, Kalea will only fall asleep when she is really tired of cursing Karel.
But tonight, the reason is quite another.
Kalea could not close her eyes because her mind was still on Gavin. More precisely at their meeting with a foreign man named Taruna this afternoon who still leaves a lot of question marks on the head.
For some reason, Kalea felt Gavin was trying to hide something from her. In contrast to Taruna who seemed relaxed and more able to control himself, Gavin always looks restless when meeting Taruna to make him feel suspicious. Moreover, Gavin continues to try to break the conversation between them and impressed want to rush him to take him away from the presence of Taruna and Sierra. It was as if their meeting was not supposed to happen and Gavin was trying to find a way out so that the meeting did not continue further and further.
Really, Kalea still could not get the suspicion out of her mind even though Gavin had told her not to think too much about Taruna. Because no matter how hard he tried to absorb the positive words that Gavin told him, he still felt something was wrong between the two men.
The matter of Gavin and the truth behind his relationship with Taruna alone has made Kalea's head feel tired, plus the man has still not contacted him until now since his return many hours ago.
Kalea shook her head strongly as the second option appeared. It can't be like this. His head was already too noisy now, so there should be nothing else to add to the commotion in his head. Or his head will explode and he ends up dead horribly.
Not wanting her heart to get more agitated, Kalea finally decided to go back to her bed. Not to sleep, but to reach for his phone buried under a pillow.
As he had expected earlier, his phone screen seemed dim as he carried it forward. When the screen lock opens, Kalea does not find a notification from Gavin. Kalea instead found a few lines of messages sent by Karel about an hour ago. The content was not important at all, so Kalea decided not to reply to it and simply ignored the message after reading it from the notification pop-up.
For a long time Kalea was silent, looking at the screen of her phone which now has shown Gavin's phone number. It only takes one touch and he will actually call the guy.
It was late at night and calling the man now was not a polite thing to do. But for God's sake, he won't calm down before he gets the news that the man has arrived home safely. Kalea does not need a long conversation, she only needs to hear Gavin's voice for a few seconds then she will go to sleep with a heart that is no longer agitated.
So after weighing long enough, Kalea actually called Gavin.
Kalea bit her fingernails in an attempt to dampen nervousness while waiting for the phone to connect. He walked back and forth, hoping to be anxious when the phone was still not connected even though a dozen seconds had passed.
Until finally, the restless movement came to a halt as a voice spoke from across. But instead of feeling relieved, Kalea actually felt her head empty when she heard not the voice of Gavin, but the voice of the woman she knew.
Seriate
