At six in the morning. The sun was even still timid to reveal itself, but Kalea had already been made emotional since sitting in the living room a few minutes ago. The cause is a matchmaking agenda that has been often discussed by both parents since the last few months. A ridiculous matchmaking that made absolutely no sense to Kalea.
Papa still keeps raving about the man to be betrothed to him, while Mama seems so enthusiastic in responding to every story Papa at a time when Kalea just looked at the two without interest. Today, Papa and Mama look like magical parents who are planning to sell their child to a foreign man who is somehow shaped.
"It's not for the company. Seriously, it's for your life." Papa said for the umpteenth time. Kalea only responded with a snort accompanied by a glob of eyes that were turning carelessly. What is not for the company? Clearly this matchmaking was held for the sake of the continuity of their company. So that the company pioneered with difficulty by Papa can be increasingly developed and known to many people.
Well, even without this matchmaking, Papa's company is actually quite well known. KL Group is not a company. In the span of ten years, the company which was originally only a small entertainment agency has transformed into a large entertainment company that successfully debuted many great artists and actors. In addition to having its own production house, KL Group has also expanded into the world of modeling. There are several models under the auspices of KL Group who successfully contracted to become brand ambassadors for world-famous clothing brands.
But presumably all these achievements are still not enough for Papa, so the old man is still trying to get her married to a man who is said to be the sole heir of the MC Group, he said, a broadcasting company that belongs to one of the three largest broadcasting companies in the country.
Kalea herself did not know what the man looked like. Though Papa said his name is everywhere and his appearance often appears in various media both print and digital. The problem was, Kalea was not interested in such things. Instead of watching television, which is mostly just soap operas with mainstream themes or artist divorce gossip, Kalea prefers to spend time in her small studio, work with brushes and paint to produce aesthetic artwork.
"They're good-looking, Kal." That's Mama's voice. It sounded gleeful and its eyes sparkled as if it had just found a treasure box that contained hundreds of millions of dollars worth of diamonds.
Kalea sighed. What the hell is that guy? More handsome than Lee Jeno, a member of the boyband NCT from South Korea who is loved by many young people? Kalea is not. All of the men were, at least not more handsome than the actors under the auspices of KL Group. Where no one has managed to interest Kalea.
"The performance in the company is also good. He managed to increase the value of the company's shares to twenty percent just by his presence in one of the events held by his company. Not only handsome, Kal, he's smart, too." Babe Papa is so carefree. From the look of his eyes as bright as the morning sun out there who began to dare to appear, Papa seemed to want to tell the world how much Papa admired the figure of the young man he was telling. More than that, Kalea feels like Papa is proud of his own biological child.
"Kalea doesn't want to." Kalea. He felt that he was too young to be caught up in this ridiculous matchmaking. Rather than spending time with someone completely unknown, Kalea was more interested in scraping more ink onto the blank canvas strewn across her studio.
"Try to see you first, Kal. Slow acquaintance. Papa didn't ask you to marry him tomorrow, really." Papa said casually, still trying to persuade Kalea to agree to this crazy idea.
"Kal," Mama grabbed Kalea's hand, bringing her into a warm grasp. Mama's eyes that were originally brightly sparkling suddenly turned soft, making Kalea again sigh somehow for how many times.
"Pleaseeeeeee... You never asked for anything with me, did you? Once a time, Kal. Mama just wanted you to try to get to know this kid." Mama started showing her sea look. Damnit. Mama knows very well Kalea's weakness. He could at least see the woman who had given birth to him grieving.
Eventually, Kalea lost as well. Although actually he still has a thousand and one reasons to refuse Mama's request, but when Mama's eyes are getting sad and look like a person who is desperate, Kalea has no power not to nod her head.
"Okay, Kalea's gonna try to see him first." Said Kalea, who was greeted with cheers by her parents. I don't know where the sad look and desperate look on Mama's face went. Because now the woman was cool to hug Papa and scream with excitement.
"Tomorrow you'll meet him at Ballada Cafe, yeah. Just lunch hour." Said Papa with a smile.
"Hmm." Kalea just cleared her throat in response. I don't know what he'll do after this, it'll be Kalea think later. Now he just follow the will of his parents, rather than the two parents turned into reog. It's not funny.
"What do you want for breakfast? Mama is ready now." Mama suddenly got up from her seat, saying in a fiery spirit like she had just rediscovered half of her lost life.
"As for Mama, Kalea wants to go to the studio first. Call me if breakfast is ready."
Not waiting until Mama gave a response, Kalea just left the middle room. His little legs swung slowly up the stairs. One by one he climbed the stairs, until he finally arrived at the 3rd floor, where his studio was located.
Kalea's hands were raised to open the doorknob, but she collapsed and ended up sitting with her knees hugged at the studio door.
Hela breaths out just like that. A breath filled with despair that came out of nowhere. Maybe from a simple dream that just got broken? It was Kalea's simple dream to be able to hold an exhibition for the paintings she had made before deciding to get married. Kalea had kept the dream for many years, but it was possible that it would not be achieved because her premonition said this match would continue no matter what.
Kalea's shoulders that were originally upright slowly slumped. His head was piled on his knees, facing to the side, in the 3rd floor hallway along the walls of which were displayed his paintings which were created from when he was very young. One of the things that caught his attention was a painting that showed a boy running around in the middle of a green meadow. Although the painting only shows the back side of the boy, Kalea can feel that the boy is smiling.
"Huh..where are you? If you're here right now with me, maybe not if you help me out of all this annoying stuff?" he muttered alone. Then unconsciously, a drop of tears fell from the corner of the left eye. Really, Kalea missed the boy in the painting. A childhood friend that Kalea met a dozen years ago. I don't know where the kid went. Either he's alive or he's dead. Kalea was still hoping to meet the boy again.
