Sad Night

Karel was cursing because his car suddenly broke down in the middle of the road when his stomach was thrashing to be filled. After getting a rejection from Kalea and the girl prefers to go with another man she has only known for a few days rather than sit with him to open the gifts she has brought, Karel walked towards his house. The house is quiet and Karel does not know where all the residents of the house including Mpok Nuriah who usually hang out in the kitchen while watching his favorite soap opera from a flat television screen that is deliberately installed near the table the meal.

His stomach was hungry, but in the kitchen there was nothing to eat. In the refrigerator, too, there were not many groceries he could cook (more than that, he was too lazy to dwell on the stove and pan) and he did not want to order food via the online application because the menu was just that. Eventually Karel pulled the car out of the garage, drove it to a restaurant that provided his busy menu and Kalea: squid rica.

But not until he was destination, his car suddenly broke down and the atmosphere of the road was quiet so that there was nothing he could ask for help. Worse, he didn't bring his cell phone with him. As a result, he could only cluck repeatedly.

As she was so emotional with the car that it never lit up, Karel heard a screaming voice from a woman not far from where her car broke down. Because Karel was basically a kepo man, then he left his car just like that to get to the source of the sound.

Karel's body suddenly stiffened when he found across the street was a figure he was so familiar with, which he always took care of all the body's soul. The girl was struggling, trying to get away from the two men who blocked her arm.

Karel was supposed to rush towards Kalea to help her, but he stayed still for a while. Until finally there was a car that passed and Karel moved impulsively stopped the angkot. He did not care when the angkot driver cursed him with various sentences of oath.

"Woy, you want to die!" shouted the angkot driver for the umpteenth time.

The four passengers who were in the angkot (all men) also stared intently at Karel who was acting at his own will.

"Surge, Bang! We're in a hurry, right!" Shouted a passenger, bending his head from the angkot door.

But Karel did not get out of the way. Occasionally he glanced at Kalea to check on the girl.

The annoyed driver finally got off the angkot, approached Karel and was ready to drag the man away from there. But Karel even pulled the arm of the angkot driver and said quickly about the purpose of stopping this angkot.

"Please help me, Bang! My men are in danger!" he said he panicked and pointed across the street.

The confused driver followed Karel. And when he understood the situation, the driver then shouted to the passengers to come along to help Karel. Finally they ran across the street with Karel leading in front.

Just before one of the men's dirty hands touched Kalea's lips, Karel smacked the pierced man's head into a fall. One more man tattooed on the arm he kicked in the stomach. Then Karel pulled Kalea's body, hugging her very tightly. Karel could feel Kalea's body shaking violently in his arms. His chest was sore, he was eager to beat up two damn men who dared to touch his girl. But not because the two men have now become months of citizens.

Karel tightened his embrace. His big hand rubbed Kalea's head slowly to calm the girl.

"It's me, it's okay. You're safe now." Whispers slowly.

As Kalea looked up and their gazes met, the girl's cry broke out.

"It's ok. You can cry." He said again, making Kalea more roared in his arms. The girl's hug tightened and Karel could feel the back of his shirt being squeezed. It's okay, Karel doesn't mind. Even when he felt his front shirt wet with Kalea's tears, Karel still did not mind. As Karel had said before, he would do anything, anything to make sure his Kalea remained safe.

"There's nothing you need to worry about, cuz I'm here. And will always be here, by your side." Karel said one last time along with the bodies of two people who were dragged away from before them.

*****

For the first time in a long time, Kalea cried in Karel's arms. The last time he did it was three years ago, when he was already so frustrated with the thesis that it was repeatedly rejected and had to be revised. As usual, Karel will be there, providing an ear to hear all the oaths he addressed to the Dajjal's construction lecturer who was very happy to make it difficult for his students. In addition to the ears, Karel also always provides a warm hug to reduce the turmoil of pain in his chest, as the young man is currently doing.

"Fuck!"

From inside the man's arms, Kalea could hear Karel swearing with overflowing emotions. His voice filled the car.

"Can't be rude!" still in Karel's arms, with tears not yet gone and a still trembling body, Kalea shook Karel's shoulders slowly.

"But he's an asshole, Kale! What kind of macem does a woman leave alone like this?!" Karel was obviously emotional, Kalea understood that. Because it's not just Karel who's upset. Kalea was also upset, but she was too shocked to be able to express her frustration towards Gavin. The incident that hit him just a moment ago really made him shaken.

"I'll no longer let him take you away."

Kalea could only shut up. Even though he is rancid and prefers to joke, but when he is angry, Karel is scary. Anything that comes out of his mouth will be painful to hear. And so far, Karel has always kept to what he said. So if Karel says he won't let Gavin see him again, then Kalea is sure that this young man will do everything possible so that Gavin will not get a gap to meet him.

"He didn't even call you to make sure you're home or not, right?"

"No." Kalea shakes.

"Kan, what a bastard he is!"

"Rell'll."

Kalea withdrew from Karel's embrace. He looked into Karel's eyes, so close that he could communicate with him.

"From the beginning of the time I met him in front of your house, on the first day you met, I did not like this person. But I can't do anything about it because you said he was good."

"But he's really good, Rail. He treats me as he should. He wants to tell me what I like, what I don't. Gavin's... Gavin-"

"There is no good man who will leave a woman who he dates alone like this! No matter how important the situation is, he must make sure you get home safe first he can go."

"Lo can not imagine what will happen to you if I do not happen to pass and squirm lo, or if there is no angkot earlier that I can intercept? Can you shadow? Because I can't!"

Not a single word would come out of Kalea's mouth. He's speechless. His head was busy digesting Karel's sentence and part of him spontaneously agreed. But, there was another part of him that still wanted to hear Gavin's direct explanation of what happened to the man so he had to leave Kalea alone. Kalea still wants to know why.

"Don't see him again. If you don't feel like you can tell Mama about this, let me tell you. Whatever I'm gonna do to make this matchmaking void and you don't have to marry the same son of a bastard like him."

"Rel.." Kalea shakes. "Please don't tell Mama."

"Why? Mama should know that the man she adores is not a good man! Mama should know that Gavin's not the right guy for you!"

"I don't want you to be disappointed, Rel."

"Keep you don't mind being treated like Gavin?"

There was a pause a few moments before Kalea answered Karel's question. After taking a deep breath, Kalea stared fixedly at Karel.

"I want to hear the reason first. I want to know why Gavin left me alone."

"Way what? Let him have a chance to find excuses and apologize from you? No, I'm not gonna let that happen. I can't tell you sorry about that bastard."

"Stop call Gavin a bastard, Rail."

"Lo remember him?"

"I don't remember him, I just-"

"What's free?!" Karel was furious until he involuntarily shouted in front of Kalea's face.

The shocked Kalea practically distanced her body from Karel. The tears that had stopped flowing now seemed to stagnate, ready to be shed again.

"Sorry, Kale... I don't mean" Karel said in a panic.

"I want to go home." Kalea said with a trembling voice. "I'm going home, Rel." Deuteronomy.

Karel sighed before getting out of the car and pulled the small body of Kalea to get out of there. Grasping it tightly the small hand as if it did not want to be released at all.

"My car broke down. We'll take a taxi, okay?" ask with a straight forward view. He could not see the sad face of Kalea at this time because he realized that the girl was sad because of her actions.

Kalea did not answer. He resigned when Karel took him to the intersection where people usually stopped a taxi. Tears that pooled in the eye pelupuk he still resistant so as not to spill. Kalea didn't want to cry because of Karel. He didn't want to make Karel feel guilty.

But when a taxi stopped in front and they were both sitting in the passenger seat, Kalea's tears broke. He could no longer hold back his tears. He cried as much as he could, while Karel could only stand still while tightly grasping Kalea's cold hands.

The taxi drove up with Kalea sobbing and Karel, who threw a glance at the street, was busy cursing herself for failing to hold back and making her girl cry.
