“Good morning!” greeting Maysa as she entered the kitchen, a woman was cooking there.
“Good morning, Madam,” said to the woman, stopping her work, nodding and smiling kindly.
Maysa looked at the woman. “You're the new housekeeper here? What's your name?” ask Maysa.
“Iya, Mistress. My name is Ningrum,” replied the woman.
Maysa nodded and watched the woman from top to bottom, looking ordinary. As a wife, of course, she felt afraid if there were other women in this house, especially if she dared to tease her husband.
“You're married?” ask Maysa to know.
“I'm married. Already have a child, Madam,” replied the woman again.
“Where are your children?”
“My husband also works in this city as a gardener, if my son is in the same village my mother.” Maysa nodded her head again, but still did not take her gaze away from the woman so the person being stared at was a little uncomfortable because of her employer's treatment.
“What is your child never looking for you?” Maysa asked like an investigator.
“Initially probably often asked me where I was, but as time went on he was used to living with his grandmother,” replied Ningrum potluck.
Maybe that's what Maysa felt first. At first he often asked about the whereabouts of Rafka, but over time his son was getting used especially now with the existence of Tama as a replacement for Rafka. It definitely lessens his longing for his biological father. Tama also loved Eira like a real child. Maysa was very happy because Tama did not distinguish the child who in fact was not his own flesh and blood.
“Continue your work, let me help,” Maysa said as she walked closer to the stove.
“No need, Mistress. I can do it myself, afraid later even mad master.”
Ningrum felt bad because it had to be helped by the homeowner. Although this was the first time they met, but she knew that the one talking to her was the wife of the homeowner because their wedding photos were clearly displayed in the living room and family room.
“It's okay. I'm used to this and you also don't call me madam. The call was only for Mama Mirna. Just call me Mom. My name is Maysa. You can call Maysa's mother. Don't be too stiff either, I also don't eat people,” said Maysa smiling who just wanted to melt the atmosphere.
“Iya, Mum.” Ningrum smiled stiffly. He felt bad for his boss. But he's happy because Maysa seems like a good person. Hopefully in this new place he can feel at home and not get violence like in the previous house.
Maysa also helped Ningrum cook. Not to forget also the woman gave some encouragement to her domestic assistant, anything that can be cooked and that should not be cooked because the residents of this house do not like it. Ningrum listened to everything carefully. He will remember everything said by his master so as not to make mistakes in the future, because of his forgotten self.
Maysa also said what are the habits of the residents of this house including children's activities while at home.
“I'll remember it, Mom. If I have anything forgotten or unintentional, please be reminded,” Ningrum said very politely.
Maysa smiled she was happy with Ningrum's whereabouts here, because she could see if the woman was a good person. Hopefully in the future it will be like that too.
“Oh yes, Ningrum. If you have a friend, you can recommend me. You can not do all the work yourself, especially later there will also be new residents. My mom will stay here too. But, I hope you can choose a good friend and can be invited to work together. You certainly know what I mean. I don't want any envy between you and your friends while doing work, let alone about salary. I am the laziest to argue about it because both you and your friends will receive the same salary,” Maysa explained.
Ningrum looked silent and thought. Who are the friends to work with here. Honest during her time working as a domestic assistant she was not so close to other friends because she rarely hung out.
“I actually exist, Mom. But, she wasn't at the housekeeping assistant's agency. He's my brother. She used to work as a housekeeper, but because her in-laws were sick she came home and only a week ago her in-laws died. He also once expressed his intention to work again as a domestic assistant, but his age was no longer able to re-enter the agency, but he was still able to do some work, Mom, ma'am,” says Ningrum expectantly. Yeah, I hope Maysa can allow her sister here. In addition, Ningrum can also feel calm if she is with her brother.
“I can trial no yes, about two weeks or one month. If the job is good I can consider it, but if I don't like it I'm forced to lay it off. But take it easy during the probation I will still give him a salary. How?” maysa.
Ningrum nodded quickly, hopefully her brother can work together with her here.
“I'll ask him first, Mom. If he agrees I will give you news,” Ningrum said quickly.
“This is all done cooking, you just move it to the bowl and put it on the table yes. I want to wake up the kids first.”
“Thank you, Madam. Have helped me, even though this is my job,” said Ningrum again not feeling good. His work became light because of the help of his employer.
“It's okay.” Maysa smiled and went to her children's room. He wanted to see if they had woken up yet, because they also had to go to school. They had one day off yesterday. I don't want my kids to take any more holidays.
When opening the children's room, Eira is still asleep while Dio is no longer in bed. Maysa guessed that if her son must have taken a bath, she tried to wake the princess.
“Eira, let's get up! The school will be late. Though Fajr was awake why did you sleep again?”
Maysa shook her daughter's body so that the child would wake up soon. However, the little girl just stretched her body without opening Maysa's eyes was not discouraged, she just kept trying to get Eira up. After enough effort the princess finally opened her eyes as well.
“Ma, I'm still sleepy,” Aira said as she rubbed her eyes.
“Today has to be school, baby. Yesterday was off now have to go in. Kan Eira said he wanted to be a doctor if he became a doctor must be diligent in school,” persuaded the mother.
The little girl nodded even with a bent face and pouting lips. Maysa who saw that could only smile. She followed her daughter to the bathroom, which Dio still used.
Eira waited while standing by the door once she knocked on it to get her out.
“Sister! Cepetan!” eira shouted still in a lazy tone.
“Iya, Deck. Not very patient. It's also done,” said Dio who just came out of the bathroom. His hair had gotten wet, making the boy look fresh and very handsome.
Eira did not listen to what her brother said. The little girl went into the bathroom. When she was about to close the door Maysa held her back because she also wanted to go in to bathe her daughter.
“Mama where you going? I can shower myself. I have grown up not wanting to be held with mama again,” said Eira forbid the mother to go in there.
“Yakin can?” maysa asked doubtfully. Indeed Eira can bathe alone, but is it possible to clean his entire body? Despite her doubts, Maysa finally allowed her daughter to bathe herself. The woman also chose to prepare school supplies for her two children.
Dio, the boy was more independent, all had been prepared from the night while for Eira there were still some who had to be helped to be prepared.
“Oma Rafiqah already stay here, Ma?” ask Dio to his mother.
“Not yet. There is also still an event there, so maybe another week Oma Rafika lives here. Why did Dio start Oma?” maysa asked a glance at Dio who is now buttoning his uniform.
“Iya, I thought Mama would sleep in the guest room, but when I saw her room was empty. Mama's going to Oma Rafika's house again?” ask Dio again.
“Today no, maybe tomorrow. It's a pity that Oma Mirna is staying. Mama also later should see the boutique first.”
Dio simply nodded his head and continued his activities.
Maysa took a comb and tidied Dio's hair. “Have been handsome. Spirit for school, yes,” said Maysa from behind Dio who looks from the mirror image.
Dio smiled back and nodded his head.
