Taint
Angrier

Darren approached and picked up the item that had managed to thrilling his heart—empty vodka bottle. Darren's face heats up as his grip tightens. He never imagined that his son would consume the curse drink.

On the sidelines of the emotions that began to ignite, Darren harbored a considerable fear. He was once entangled in the drink and eventually suffered from oligospermia. He was worried that one day Kaivan would experience the same thing. Nah! That can't happen!

With a quick step Darren headed towards the balcony of the room and found Kaivan's figure there. However, the anger did not subside but rather grew bigger. Because Kaivan was sitting while smoking a cigarette and in front of him there was a vodka bottle that stayed half.

Without further ado Darren approached his son and slammed the vodka bottle hard. The clinking when colliding with the marble floor is quite echoing, to make Kaivan jerked and wave.

"Pa-Papa," Kaivan muttered stammeringly.

He didn't think his father would come to the balcony. I remember the door was locked, but I don't know. He was very upset and could not think clearly. He rushed alone to find the release of—alcohol and cigarette— which he thought could ease the burden a little.

"What are you doing, Kaivan?" Darren grabbed the collar of Kaivan's uniform and gripped it tightly.

"Pa, i___"

"Who taught you this, huh?" darren snapped complete with his sharp gaze.

The next second, Darren raised his hand and was ready to slap Kaivan in the face. However, his movements stopped because he heard the whisper of the heart, 'you don't deserve to slap him because your youth is much worse than him'. As a result, Darren let go of his grip violently and let Kaivan's body stagger. While he immediately turned around and tried to calm down who began to lose control.

Behind him, Kaivan looked down as he stared at the fragments of the bottle scattered on the floor. Slowly, his fingers released a cigarette that was still half a stick.

"I don't want it to be like this either, but___" Kaivan looked down and shed tears. He couldn't help it because it was painful for him.

"Your mother is a gentle woman. Don't know how long she'll cry, if you know what you're doing, Kaivan," Darren said.

Kaivan is still flinching. There is no answer, but there is no courage to give an answer.

"If only Papa knew how I felt, "his mind.

"What's on your mind, Kaivan, huh? You think those things can solve the problem, can make you smart? No, Kaivan! It's just that those things are going to plunge you into a loss, you know!" Darren spoke again with a higher intonation.

Because Kaivan was silent, Darren decided to leave. He thought, maybe Kaivan needs time to calm down, so now is not the time to talk.

"I can't, Pa. No matter how hard I try, the result is zero. I can't be like Reyvan or Athreya, and maybe forever won't be. I don't know. God was unfair to me, creating a stupid person in the middle of a smart family" Kaivan said when Darren began to leave him.

"If my shortcomings become a burden for Papa, I will go. I realized I didn't have the intelligence that Papa wanted. However, in addition to a lousy brain, I still had the energy to look for a mouthful of rice. I'm sure life out there is easier than surviving here under these circumstances" Kaivan said.

"Take your talk, Kai!" darren Bengpak. He stopped his steps and looked back at Kaivan.

"Sorry, Pa, I can't. I tried to get almost crazy, but my ability remained to that extent. I know cigarettes and alcohol are not the right thing, but that's all that can help me forget all this burden. I'm so tired, Pa," Kaivan replied.

"When did you eat that?" tanya Darren is still with high intonation.

"It's been two years." Kaivan looked down because his father was getting closer.

"You're tarnishing Papa's trust, Kaivan! Papa is really disappointed!" furious Darren. He feels betrayed by Kaivan. The child who is considered good-natured turns out to be acting badly behind him.

"Don't you feel disappointed long ago?"

Although Kaivan's voice was soft, but managed to provoke anger. Darren's emotions that have not subsided, are now increasingly exploding to the maximum limit. For the second time Darren clutched the collar of Kaivan's uniform.

"You___"

"If Papa has a sense of pride and does not keep a sense of disappointment, then Papa will not lower my ideals. Although photographer is not a promising profession, but that's where I can be. In other things I'm stupid, Pa. I tried to stay stupid." Kaivan cut Darren's words while crying.
