I faintly smelled the scent of disinfectant, not too strong, but quite disturbing. In a sleepy state, I tried to open my eyes, very heavy. But I keep trying. Until finally, my eyes managed to stare at the all-blue room.
While holding onto the head that was hurting, I looked around. There was no one, only medicine and medical equipment that I could see.
"Sister Darren," I whispered.
I tried to get up even though it was very difficult, wanted to find Kak Darren who was out of nowhere at the moment. However, my strength was too weak, so there was no strength to get out of bed.
"Sister!" I tried to raise the intonation, but the sound remained a weak voice.
I was silent for a moment, trying to gather the remnants of power. After it felt a little better, I tried to get down with great difficulty. Then, step out slowly.
Arriving at the door, I heard Kak Darren's voice talking to someone. Without a second thought, I opened the door and was about to meet him.
I was immediately glued when the door was wide open. Right in front of the room, I found the figure of a man I knew very well. Although his appearance was unfamiliar, but his face and gaze were very familiar.
"Da-Daniel," I murmured.
I stared at him from the tip of his foot to the end of his head. The clothes are loose and long, complete with a head covering. On his neck was a long necklace with a cross pendant. At first, I was not sure it was him. However, after seeing him smile, I was immediately convinced by my vision.
"How are you, Kirana? It's nice to meet you." Daniel moved as he cupped his hands together in front of his chest.
Before I spoke to Daniel, Brother Darren approached me and grabbed my shoulder. Apparently, he was just talking to Daniel.
"Darling, I'm sorry I stayed out. How are you, is anyone still sick? Should I call a doctor?" ask Brother Darren.
"I'm okay, brother, just lemes" I replied.
"Thank God, here I help you sit." Brother Darren guided me to a chair. "So you slept, so I stayed out. Just here to meet Daniel and we chat together, until you don't hear that you're awake. Sorry, yes," he continued.
I nodded with a smile. Then, I looked at Daniel who was currently sitting in his chair.
"Congratulations, Kirana, God has finally returned a gift for you. Hopefully his presence can erase your wounds because of Dara's departure," said Daniel who then makes me frown.
"What do you mean?" ask me quickly. "Sister, what does that mean?" I turned to look at Brother Darren.
"God has granted our prayers, dear. Your condition is not healthy because of pain, but congenital baby. Honey, there's our son here. The doctor said he was six weeks old." Brother Darren rubbed my stomach gently.
"Seriously?" my whiskey.
Really, I was shocked to hear this news. Because, a few days ago my guests still come even though only in the form of spots. In addition, Darren is still undergoing hormone treatment. His condition could not be said to be normal.
"Seriously, Honey. You can ask yourself later with the doctor. You___"
I quickly rushed into Darren's arms, without giving him a chance to continue speaking. I was so moved and couldn't hold back tears. This is the most beautiful news I have ever heard.
"Now, don't think anything. You're like this because you're pregnant, not anyone else. After this, you should eat. Don't let him starve in there" whispered Brother Darren as he rubbed my back.
"I still can't believe it, sister, this is really .. ah, I'm so happy." I spoke while hugging.
"I'm so happy to see you guys happy" said a person whose presence I almost forgot.
Hearing his words, I immediately released a hug and Brother Darren did not hold back. Then, I looked at Daniel and wanted to ask him something that had been going on for a long time. But I had trouble starting it.
"This is the end of my life, Kirana. I will set aside the affairs of the world and focus on my religion" Daniel said, as if he understood what I was going to ask.
I did not immediately reply because I was still digesting his words. Daniel's current figure, coupled with his words just reminded me of a monk. However, I'm not sure that Daniel chose that path. Because as far as I know, monks are obliged to celibate or live without marriage. Is Daniel really that?
"I was once disappointed with a taste. But it was from that disappointment that I heard the call of God. Now, I'm happy with my life choice, to be someone who dedicates myself to God" Daniel continued.
"You, you___"
"Yes, I'm not married" Daniel concluded as if he knew what I was thinking.
"Our beliefs are different, Kirana. In your faith, marriage is mandatory. But not with my faith. Choosing celibacy and focusing on religion is a noble choice" Daniel continued before I said.
"Yes. Me, I'm so happy with your choice." I tried to smile. It still feels awkward to talk to Daniel, who is now a religious figure.
I looked down when I heard Daniel. It is very heavy to bear such a disgrace, where in kabul only mention the name of the mother. I've felt it before and it hurts a lot. Luckily, Darren and his family love me so much that they don't bother about it. However, not necessarily Dara get a man like Kak Darren. If that had happened, Dara would have been devastated. Poor, he did not know the sins we committed, but he bore the most of the consequences.
"Perhaps, the presence and departure of Dara is God's way of rebuking us. If only there were no Dara, surely we would still be dissolved in great sin and we would not stop tarnishing each other's beliefs." Daniel spoke again.
"Yes, you're right." I'm nodding.
Brother Darren also said and recited the words of Daniel.
"I'm sorry, I interrupted your marriage. Now, I promise I won't repeat the same mistake. I've been happy with my life and I'm going to stand by this choice." Daniel gave a big smile.
Shortly after, a doctor and a boy came to us. Daniel moved on and then greeted him kindly. Apparently, he came to the clinic to deliver the child.
After talking to Daniel, the doctor asked me about my situation and asked me to go to the room to be checked again.
"May your baby be healthy until the birth, Kirana," Daniel said before I entered the room.
"Thank you" I said along with Brother Darren.
"I go first, may the Lord bless you always." Me and Brother Darren smiled as they nodded.
Daniel turned around and prepared to leave. However, just a step later, I called back.
"What's up, Kirana?"
"At that time, I met Auntie. He brought flowers and said he was going to the tomb" I said. It's a little hard to say, but I'm really curious who Daniel's mother was visiting.
"You don't think it's me, do you, Kirana?" ask Daniel.
"Sorry," I replied slowly.
Daniel laughed, "I'm alive, Kirana. And about Mama, she's visiting her granddaughter."
"Good-grandson? Is Dara?" ask me quickly.
"Yes." Yeah." Daniel nodded.
I smiled and after that Daniel continued his steps. There are other feelings that make me happy. Whatever the end of my relationship with Daniel, his mother still wanted to acknowledge Dara and even go to her grave. It was fitting, at that time I heard his friend say 'consecutive concerned' for leaving the world too soon.
"Now it's quieter, right? Daniel's been fine with his life, he didn't do anything stupid to be disappointed with you." Brother Darren grabbed me and rubbed my arm.
"Yes, brother, I'm overreacting" I replied.
"Yes, let's go in!" bring Brother Darren.
I nodded and followed his steps. We both entered the room and approached the doctor who was waiting there. I was told to lie down and he checked the blood pressure and also the condition of my baby.
"Mom's blood pressure is very low, this triggers dizziness and weakness. I will give you vitamins and more blood. For the fetus, the condition is healthy, it's just smaller than normal size. Mothers should be diligent in eating healthy foods, especially milk, should be drunk twice a day" explained the doctor.
"Yes, ma'am, lately I haven't eaten na*su," I replied.
"The beginning of pregnancy is mostly like that, Mom, sometimes there is even nausea and continues to vomit." The doctor smiled broadly.
"Mom, a few days ago my guest was still coming, but it was just a fleck. Why yes, Mom?" manya curious. Because when I was pregnant with Dara, I did not experience it at all.
"That happens a lot, Mom. Most of these are due to hormonal changes. However, it is also necessary to watch out if it lasts for days. How many days did you have that spot?"
"About three days, ma'am," I replied.
"Hopefully it's not a problem because I just checked the condition of the fetus is quite healthy. However, if you are in doubt, you should go to the hospital. Check further because there the address is more complete."
"Good, Mom."
After being examined and given directions, I was given some vitamins and added blood. After that, Darren and I resigned. According to the doctor, I have to rest a lot so that my condition recovers quickly. Because of that, Darren and I decided to stay at Sandya Permai.
