LOVE NARA
2,77. I CAN'T

"May I take you home?"

Alya instantly lowered her head when she realized their gaze had clashed for a few seconds. He was still silent without an answer, holding tightly onto the bottle of mineral water Rendy had given him.

"Al?" Rendy seemed to be still waiting for Alya's reply, although in her heart she didn't expect much as usual.

"Sorry, Ren. There's already Doctor Hanan's driver assigned to deliver me."

Alya just glanced at Rendy who was still staring at her. There was no disappointed look on the man's face as he listened to the unexpected answer. He was already used to receiving similar answers from the graceful hijab-wearing doctor.

Rendy picked up the medicine bag from the table then she stood up and walked over to Alya. Slowly put the bag on the lap of the woman who is still silent while holding a bottle of drink that is still filled one third of its part.

"It's medicine. Don't forget to spend it with the previous medication."

Alya nodded and lowered her gaze back down. He stored the medicine bag and the bottle of mineral water in his lap into the bag. The woman was preparing to go home.

"Thank you, Ren. I'm home now." Alya pampered with a witty.

"I'll take you down" replied Rendy.

"Not per- ...."

"Don't turn me down. I just want to keep you company all the way to the car."

Alya could only give up. Finally he nodded and allowed his good friend to take control of his wheelchair.

Rendy smiled then stood behind Alya, and began to push the accomplished doctor's wheelchair out of her room.

Along the way down using the elevator, the two fell silent without any conversation. At least Alya did not feel too awkward because his position was turned on Rendy so that the man could not see the nervousness on his face.

Some of the hospital civitas who passed by them greeted and were kindly replied by Alya and Rendy.

The driver on duty for Alya had already prepared his car in front of the main lobby. Upon seeing Alya's arrival with Rendy, the middle-aged man swiftly opened the door.

Alya stood up and immediately entered and sat in the back seat. After securing the position, he turned his gaze toward the outside, where Rendy was standing beside the door that was still open.

"Thank you again, Ren. I'll go home first."

Rendy nodded and gave her best smile to Alya.

"Don't forget to rest a lot, Al. May your feet recover."

Alya replied to her with the same smile before the man closed the door from outside.

Pack the finished driver folds and inserts the wheelchairs into the trunk, immediately say goodbye to the bone doctor he knew then entered and sat in the steering chair and drove his car away from the hospital yard.

"Why is it so hard to win your heart, Al."

Rendy let out a long sigh to ease the rumble that felt stifling her chest. With a giant step the man walked in to return to his room.

In the car Alya is still confused considering his conversation with Rendy the age of his foot examination earlier.

"I'm sorry, Ren. Maybe I'll keep disappointing you."

Alya took out a bottle of mineral water given by her best friend and drank it back until it was not left. The cover of the plastic bottle was disposable and still held it.

His memory drifted past, a few years ago when he first met Rendy as a fellow professional who served in the same hospital.

Since the introduction at that time, they were friends although not too close because Alya deliberately limited himself from association with the opposite sex. Moreover, at that time her status was still legitimate as the wife of Riko, even though the state of their household could never be said to be fine.

Rendy begins to show more courage to show his attention to Alya without ever touching on personal problems that he knows. The man tried to steal Alya's heart with all his attention, although until now he had not managed to get it.

Alya, who decided to wear the hijab after her separation from Riko, further limited herself in her association.

If anyone asks about his status or his personal life, the graceful hijab-wearing doctor always dodges and never answers.

Until one day, Rendy once expressed her feelings for Alya and expressed her good intentions to prevent the woman who had healed her from past trauma.

"Since I met you, my heart has been captivated and fallen deeply upon you, Al."

Rendy ventured to be honest with Alya and expressed her desire to marry the woman she had loved.

"Our friendship and our daily life in this hospital, has gradually allowed me to let go of the heartache of my ex-wife's betrayal. Slowly I began to accept the reality sincerely and no longer blamed the divine destiny."

In Alya's examination room that night, Rendy asked Alya for a short time before the obstetrician returned home after finishing his work.

"Sorry, Ren ...." Alya shook her head and lowered her head in response to Rendy's expression on her.

"I know about your marriage's past and I also know about your breakup."

Alya still shook her head and clasped her own two hands under the table. He is not easy to get close to other people, especially the opposite sex.

But with Rendy, he can be more lenient and give them less space to live closer friendships, without ever mentioning each other about their personal lives.

"I'm sorry, Ren. I can't."

Twice Rendy tried, twice she got the same answer from Alya. Rejection and apology.

"I'm happy to be friends with you, even I have to admit you were my first good friend during my time in this hospital."

That night, Alya tried to explain more openly to Rendy and reinforce everything, with the intention that there would be no more misunderstandings in the good relationship between the two friends.

"I don't get close to others easily and don't trust others easily. But your concern and your kind attitude all this time allowed me to feel your sincerity as a friend and fellow professional, so I felt comfortable opening myself up and making good friends with you."

"There are many things about me that you don't know and that I don't want to share with anyone. I can't open my heart to anyone. I'm sorry I had to let you down again, Ren."

Rendy can only resign and accept the same decision and answer from the woman she loves sincerely.

"I beg you to forget that feeling of yours and remain my best friend as ever. Good friends who understand and respect each other, and strengthen each other with nothing."

"I don't want to ruin our good friendship with our personal problems. Again forgive me, Ren."
