5. Running Marathon

Today the marathon race begins....

Claudia was sitting drinking water. Behind him stood Endra who was stomping on his shoulders, while beside Claudia there was Rose who was also in the race and was being stomped on by Diana.

There are 50 candidates who apply from their campus. Everyone relied on Claudia, despite their hatred for the girl, but they were convinced of her because Claudia was indeed the best in the race.

All of Claudia's college students cheered in support of the other participants. But in their hearts they cheered for him.

The entire venue was filled with many participants from other campuses who also participated in the race representing their respective campuses.

Lisa has kept a secret about Claudia's participation in last year's defending champions. It made Claudia upset when she found out everything.

"Claudia. I told you not to accept this challenge because of the provocation the woman had made. I told you earlier to take part in this race as usual. But, deciding something when you're in a state of anger is not very good." Diana worried about Claudia.

"Diana, stop. Everything's gonna be fine. We're all gonna keep supporting this little girl." Endra said as he pinched Claudia's cheek. " He will be the winner, and if not, who cares. He just needed to shout 'I love you Adam Wijaya' in front of all the college students, that's all. Claudia could do it. We all support him. Gradually people will forget everything and one day they will get a new topic of gossip." Endra said trying to encourage Claudia and glanced at Diana so as not to discuss all that anymore.

Diana understood immediately.

"really so. That's what I mean, too. No matter what anyone says, you're still our hero." Diana said, kissing Claudia's cheek.

"Have they ever seen the number of trophies on display in your study? Not at all, so let's get excited and beat all those losers." Endra said again.

Endra's words made Claudia smile and then exhaled softly.

"I have to try and believe in my own abilities. Now is not the time to complain, let alone be depressed. Try your best and win this competition." Claudia said excitedly.

Someone starts to be heard talking to the loudspeaker, Claudia becomes bored because the race has not started yet. After a while, the sound of a whistle was blown loudly. The participants started running.

The spectators present started cheering in their favor. Among the cheers of the audience, Claudia heard her name called.

"Come Claudia...."

"Claudia you can't..."

Claudia closed her eyes and took a deep breath then started running.

The participants began to take their positions at the very front. Claudia suddenly pulled the clothes that Rose was wearing from behind.

"Hey, we're just getting started. Slow down, you'll get tired quickly if you keep running like that." Claudia.

Rose listened to Claudia's words and slowed down her steps.

As Claudia said, the next half an hour, many of the originally so energetic participants had already become very weak from exhaustion.

Inside a VIP room in the race area, a man seemed so arrogant sitting and smoking staring at the big screen that had been airing the race.

"What about the design, boss?" Asked a man with an identifier as a manager to the arrogant man.

"I have to say that the jersey is very good. Just look at the faces of the participants who look so comfortable wearing them."

"Everyone praised the quality of the jersey. AW jersey quality is very good and made of environmentally friendly materials. People's response was completely unexpected." Reply to one of the men.

"My favorites are eco-friendly bags and hats." Said the other man talking.

The man sitting in front of the big screen did not hear what they were saying at all. He was focused on staring at the television screen featuring the runners, especially his eyes fixed on someone.

A girl wearing a blue jersey with the AW inscription on the front of her jersey, looks wet from sweating. The girl also wore sneaker shoes sponsored by AW corporation. Her steps were so regular, and her white face looked flushed red from the heat, moreover, both of her cheeks looked like the color of a red apple. It looks so adorable that it can make someone want to pinch it. But, the man finally realized everything.

"Claudia." He said with shocked eyes.

It had been an hour and fifteen minutes since the race began and Claudia was seen leading the front row running alone. All eyes were on him, so excited to see him running close to the finish line. Everyone started shouting his name.

"Vude...."

"Vude...."

"Vude...."

"Vude...."

"Vude...."

Ten minutes later the spectators were silent. There were only three participants who started to approach the finish line. Claudia was in first place and there were two participants following behind her.

Everyone started yelling at Mila's name. Mila was the winner last year, but is now third and looks to be in pain. Everyone was worried about him. Claudia turned around to see Mila trying to hold on to her feet and then suddenly fell down.

Seeing that, Claudia was silent for a moment. He became worried, only a few meters away he would reach the finish line. The spectators started boisterous because runner number two had already passed him. But Claudia instead chose to run in a different direction from the finish line to approach Mila.

Runners who got the silver medal last year, finally came out as champions.

Mila tried to stop Claudia. However, he had not yet spoken Claudia had grabbed his hand and helped him stand up then sat on the side of the track and waited for the doctor to arrive.

Mila pushed him away when the doctor came.

"Now finish your run." Mila.

Claudia then ran and finally she came out as the third champion. All the spectators cheered for him. The atmosphere became so boisterous. The euphoria of Claudia's victory as the third champion defeated the first champion.

Endra ran into the arena and immediately hugged Claudia followed by Diana and Rose who could finally finish their run. They hugged even kissed Claudia's cheek repeatedly. Everyone was stunned by what Claudia was doing. Even the host complained about Claudia.

The man who was inside the VIP room watched all. He sees with his own eyes what happened, but at least he does not sympathize with what Claudia did when he remembers the incident between the two.

He even glanced towards the person who became his right hand, Erik, who also looked teary-eyed at Claudia.

In the arena, Endra continued to shower Claudia's face with an anxious kiss.

Even some students who were also from the campus approached to congratulate and even hugged him. Many other students approached and surrounded him.

Claudia doesn't know how to behave. He just kept quiet and nodded when he got congratulations from the people. Even when some fellow students came and kissed her cheeks, she could only smile.

'See. No matter where the girl was, she was always flirting with men. Basic reliability.'

Claudia's happiness instantly disappeared when she heard the host mention the name of someone who would hand the medal to the winners.

"What's? Adam Wijaya?" Claudia said in shock trying to catch her breath. "Why is that guy everywhere?"

"In, I must admit that you and Mr. Adam have a special bond with each other. Just look, wherever you are, he'll finally show up there." Rose Say.

Claudia bit her lip.

"Special blessing." Said slowly.

'Of course we have a special bond, a bond that the state recognizes more precisely.' Claudia said in her heart.

"But I'm afraid things are going to get worse once the two never meet normally. There's always an incident going on." Diana.

"I won't fight with him on this show. Did you forget I wasn't the ultimate champion. I just need to ask someone to replace me in third place. Then I won't meet him." Claudia said to her friends.

"Hmmmm I envy you. You're so lucky, you always have a way to always meet her. He's very handsome. Ahhhh he's everything." Diana.

"Good, then you'll take my position to receive a medal from him." Reply Claudia.

"Stupid." Said Endra who suddenly commented while pushing Claudia's head. "He didn't even enter the race. How could he have received the medal."

"Aaaarrrgh.... I wonder how that guy is everywhere. Why did he show up at the medal? Does he not work in his office? He is not a CEO. What's he doing here, in a marathon race? Why does he have to wara-wiri here and there?" Claudia said as she folded her hands on her chest.

"Basic fool. He's the biggest sponsor on the show." Rose Say. "Didn't you notice the clothes and shoes you were wearing?" Ask again.

Claudia rolled her eyes lazily as she realized everything.

'Sial.' he swore in the heart.

The medal event began. Claudia and the other champions were asked to take the stage.

"Hey, let's go up. Your name has been called." Endra nudged the arm of Claudia who was standing next to him.

"spirit." Rose and Diana said at the same time.

With a lazy look, Claudia stepped onto the stage. He was so preoccupied with his own thoughts that he did not realize that Adam had finished speaking and was walking towards him. The two stared at each other coldly.

There were 3 people who looked so tense because of that moment, Erik, Rose and Diana. While Endra just stared at the figure of Adam full of questions.

Adam then began to give Claudia a charter and medal. Claudia who did not want to argue tried to be calm and proper by sticking her hand to shake hands with Adam.

Adam looked at Claudia's small hand and then turned to look at her.

"Your hands are so close." Adam Say.

Those three words were already able to provoke Claudia's anger.

Fortunately, no one heard Adam's words. The man then returned to his original position.

'If only it were in this place, it would be just me and him. I'm gonna drag her body to the Religious Court and get a divorce. And of course I will beat him to pieces, as devastating as he is.' Claudia said in her heart.

Claudia and her friends return to campus after the race is over. While stepping foot inside the campus building, they were stopped by someone who was none other than Lisa who asked Claudia to carry out her punishment for losing the bet.

Claudia went to the cafeteria first and sat down and finished a bottle of water. His friends follow him. So did Lisa who could not wait to see Claudia serving her sentence. Lisa thinks that Claudia will choose punishment number one, where she must be locked up alone in the Dean's room. Lisa can't wait for all that to happen.

Claudia herself was originally going to choose the number one punishment. After all, he did not care even though he would be the main gossip material on campus. But he already has a plan.

It's all about Adam. When remembering everything that happened, how arrogant, rude, cold and disrespectful to the woman once the figure of Adam. And all of that happened just because of one kiss at the hotel that night.

'He never kissed anything, to the point of being so arrogant to me just because I kissed him once. There's no way she hasn't dated anyone in two years while she's in Canada. Who knows, he might even have slept with a lot of women.'

Claudia rolled her eyes lazily thinking about all that. He then took a deep breath.

'What if he sees me declaring love to him? He'll be very upset. Oh my God, I was really curious and excited to imagine how his face would look at all this.' Claudia thought.

Claudia has made her decision. He then stepped onto the basketball court followed by his friends who finally knew what Claudia would choose as punishment.

Luck sided with Claudia. Today is a weekend, so there are not many students on campus. Only a few people came because they wanted to support the marathon.

Claudia smiled, then walked up to a tree and climbed up. Both Rose, Diana and Endra were not surprised at all to see Claudia who climbed up a tree and sat on a branch with her legs sticking down.

Several students seemed to gather to witness what Claudia was going to do. But no one dared to get too close for fear of getting beaten up by Claudia. So they just looked from a direction far enough away from the tree that Claudia was climbing.

Claudia was preparing to scream.

"I love you Adam Wijaya... I love you Adam Wijaya.... I love you Adam Wijaya...." Claudia Shouts.

Because Lisa asked him to shout ten times. So Claudia did. After that, he came down from the tree. He tried to win his heart that suddenly churned incoherently.

Some students started gossiping, some were noisy, and some were silent. And all that was no problem with Claudia.

He walked to his friends and smiled. His four best friends put their thumbs up at him.

Claudia looked towards Lisa with a mocking look. It makes Lisa very upset, he then chose to leave the field.
