57. The Truth of the Past

The Wijaya residence....

Adam arrived home with a face that still looked very angry. She was not even aware of the presence of Claudia sleeping on the sofa in the middle of hugging a pillow as it waited for her.

Adam went straight upstairs and five minutes after that Nila came to Claudia and woke up. Claudia opened her eyes hoping that it was her husband but she was confused when all she saw was Nila.

"Young Miss, wake up. The master is home." Nila.

"Home home? Where's she?" Ask Claudia.

"On the top floor." Reply Nila.

"above? He went home and went straight upstairs. Why didn't he wake me? Does he not realize my presence here?" Claudia asked confusedly.

Upon arriving inside Claudia's room finds her husband's clothes on top of the bed and the bathroom door looks closed. Claudia took Adam's clothes and put them in the laundry basket and waited for her husband to come out of the bathroom.

Adam finally came out of the bathroom after 30 minutes. Claudia immediately saw the face of the husband that looked so gloomy. Adam did not even look at himself as he walked towards his closet.

Adam never did anything like that. No matter what, he never neglected to look at his wife lovingly, talking to her so gently, especially when she came home. Adam always wanted hugs and kisses when he returned home after work. But he didn't do any of that today.

Adam finished changing his clothes in sleeping pajamas and went straight into the blanket on the bed. Claudia remained seated at the end of the bed. He was completely ignored and as if unwanted to be there by Adam. Claudia wanted to cry. Adam did not even say a single word to her, nor did he look at her in the slightest. Her mood, her aura made Claudia not dare to start a chat.

This was the first time Claudia had ever felt afraid to talk to Adam.

Claudia did not speak in the slightest and just lay quietly on the bed with Adam's back to her. But Claudia she kept looking at her husband, staring at his back. Claudia never expected that Adam would behave this cold especially to her.

'What happened at Megan's house? Why is he acting so cold to me? He didn't talk to me, didn't even see me. How could I be the victim of all this. All of this is Megan's mistake of omitting something very important, right? Then why am I being silenced like this? Did Adam have a fight with Megan? Is he upset about it? Did she ignore me because she was in a bad mood after a fight with Megan?

No.. no.. no.... I shouldn't think like this. But why is it like this? Even if something had happened there, how could I be the one who got treated like this? Why didn't he hug me? Why didn't he ask me to kiss him? Why didn't he even hug me? As usual, he can't sleep without hugging me, so why?'

Claudia tries not to think bad but can't. He tried to net his mind fish and tried to sleep.

When Claudia woke up, she found the bed by her side already empty. He knew that Adam had woken up earlier than he did. Claudia didn't bother about that. He then cleaned himself into the bathroom then went downstairs and as usual, he would definitely find someone sitting at the dinner table, waiting for himself to have breakfast together. But no, her husband had been going to the office since this morning.

"Young Miss sorry, I'm not waiting for you to make breakfast. Actually when I saw Mr. coming down from the top floor this morning, I thought that Master would not go to the office. And you didn't come down with Mister, so I started making things quickly to present to Mister."

Claudia sighed sadly. Actually, this has happened several times. When Adam went to the office once in the morning without waiting for himself to wake up. But today, it was very painful for Claudia. Claudia wanted to talk to the man. He let it all just go last night, thinking that Adam might be tired and needed some rest. Claudia thought she could ask Adam what had happened in the morning. But again Adam left him.

Whenever Adam leaves in the morning, he always leaves a message for himself. But today, there is no message whatsoever, nothing at all.

"It's okay Nila, I get it. Is he eating well? I don't think he ate well last night." Ask Claudia.

Nila lowered her head.

"That's what I want to say to you Miss. Master didn't even have breakfast. The master left the house immediately. I think Mister will wait for breakfast on the table, just like Master usually does. But by the time I got out of the kitchen with food, sir was gone. There's no more sign of the Master." Nila explained.

Now all this made Claudia even more confused and worried. With a face full of confusion, he called Erik.

"Hello, good morning Young Miss." Erik.

"Good morning Erik. Can you give Adam your phone? I want to talk to him. It's very important." Pinta Claudia's.

After a moment of silence, Erik replied to Claudia.

"Sorry Miss, I'm very confident that Mr. Adam is not here." Erik sounded confused.

Claudia's heart was racing.

"Not there? Then where is he? Is he meeting or is there a breakfast agenda with his clients?" Ask Claudia again.

"No, not at all. No meeting today. Sir is free, there is no schedule until lunchtime today. You told me yesterday that you would be late for the office today. So I didn't give you any meeting schedule today." Erik.

Claudia was feeling so frustrated right now. He disconnects the phone, then calls Naomi.

"Sir Naomi, where's Adam? I called Erik this morning, but he's not in the office." Claudia.

"Eh... Claudia, there was actually a problem last night at Megan's house. So he's still busy taking care of that now. He's with Will. They are discussing something. I'm here with them too. Don't worry, everything's fine." Naomi told Claudia.

Claudia couldn't take it anymore, she instantly turned off the phone. Frustrated, he slammed his phone hard on the floor to make the sound of the screen split.

Nila took a long breath. He knew that Claudia was angry. Now there was no way to try to stop Claudia's anger.

Claudia ran towards her room, she wanted to shout, she wanted to take out her expletive. He then buried his face in a pillow and shouted, and cursed because of his frustration.

After a few minutes of frustration, Claudia sat down.

"No, I can't let my mind play around with me this time. He loves me, and I know it. Megan is just her responsibility. Megan might be in danger again. That's why they're all gathering now. He's not ignoring me, he's probably stressed. Well, he's just mad at Megan and stressed. That's why he's keeping quiet. He's not mad at me, no. Keep thinking positively Claudia." Claudia tried to calm herself.

Adam went to Will's house this morning.

Will is unable to continue his sentence as Adam throws several photos of himself on the table. Will looked at the photo, while Adam looked so angry. Will's eyes immediately widened.

"It's.... Oh my God... How the... It's all crazy..." Will.

"really so. You should be more careful. He came to your house and someone followed him. What if they follow him after he leaves your house? And what if those bastards already knew about her information? The man also looked so confident that night." Adam Say.

Will was so surprised.

First, the photo she saw was of Claudia and herself. The picture shows that they both look so intimate.

Second, Adam was not bothered by the photo at all. He had always been the most possessive man in the world but he didn't even ask anything about the photo.

"Memory cards? But it's earrings..." Sean's assistant looked confused.

Sean laughed at his assistant before revealing that there was a memory card inside the earring. The earrings are actually a rare diamond with a memory card inserted technically in it.

Sean's assistant has gathered all the information about Claudia on the memory card. But unfortunately that night when he wanted to give it all to Sean, his assistant and two others were arrested by border officers.

When the officers checked their luggage and body. Officers finally found the earrings. Sean's assistant asked them to return the earrings, but the officers did not reply.

"I tell you, it's a rare diamond earring. The owner is a mafia. Is it impossible for him to have such a rare thing like this? Just arrest us, just beat us up, or do whatever you want to do. But please give those earrings back to me." Sean's assistant said, but the officer didn't return it, and he kept it to himself instead.

It all comes after Papa Megan dies when Adam and his friends take responsibility for Megan. After a few months the attack began. Some men followed Megan wherever she was, such as schools, parks and other places.

Being a soldier and someone associated with state administration, Papa Megan had many enemies. Adam and three other men, first think that everyone who follows Megan is an enemy of Papa Megan who is trying to take revenge. And the four men start fighting Sean's gang and they do their best to protect Megan from everything.

It was the night of Megan's eighteen-year birthday. When Adam goes to drive Megan to her house and leaves Claudia alone in the car. He felt some men were in the bushes. She escorted Megan home and stayed there for a while to make sure that Megan was not alone and safe. After a while when Will sends 4 guards and arrives there to look after Megan, Adam steps out of Megan's house to return to Claudia.

As he walked back towards Claudia, he heard some men talking. They may not be aware of Adam's presence in the dark.

That was the first time Adam had heard of the earrings. After what he heard, Adam was convinced that the men did not threaten Megan's life. They just wanted those earrings, those rare diamond earrings that papa Megan gave her before she died.

They asked Megan about it and it was all true. Papa Megan gave him a diamond earring three days before he entered the operating room. Paa Megan dies in the operating room after saving her men Adam and Will.

Adam and Will are trying to figure out why the mobsters are after the earrings, but still can't.

After a few weeks, the forensics and cyber departments were able to uncover his secrets. They finally knew that the earring actually had a memory card in it.

At first they thought the memory card was a file containing information about their dark business or cooperation. And maybe that's why they want to get those earrings again. But apparently not, the memory card only contains a folder with the name 'Love.'

It took 4 days for the cyber department to be able to hack the password of the memory card. When the folder opened, everyone was speechless, especially Adam and his companions.

All of that data was Claudia's image and her personal data. Starting from the name, age, address, school, family background to love problems and everything. Adam was completely shocked, he could not even believe what he saw.

When Adam was doing something, he and Will used Megan as bait. They eventually let Megan be seen and approached by the mobsters, only to discover all the truth. Because Adam was so worried to see the information of his wife who was in the memory card. And the mafia was trying to find her.

That's how they all finally know the truth. At the time when the mobsters were looking at Megan with questions about the earrings, they spoke that the memory card contained information about people loved by their boss. They were looking for a girl loved by their boss. Their boss is being punished and will be released soon. One day when their boss gets out of jail, he'll ask about the girl he loves so much and be the reason until he turns himself in to the police. Just to make sure he can live a happy and peaceful life after that punishment.

Adam was shocked and frightened. It got him into a fight with the men and got shot. Adam knew if the earrings stayed with him, they would never find Claudia. Because they don't have any leads on Claudia.

Only their assistants and bosses have photos of claudia. But they don't have that. Adam knew to save his wife, he had to keep the memory card safe.

Adam always trusted his wife. But Claudia can always trust Adam. Claudia has just been able to overcome her trust problem. She was beginning to trust her husband.
