Time went by quickly, I got word that Jack's wife had given birth. Andreas and I were planning to visit Jack to see his wife and baby. So, this morning before leaving for the city where Jack lives, I decided to contact him first
"Hey Jack's. Congratulations on the birth of your son." Said me over the phone.
"Thank you, thank you." Reply Jack.
"Today I'm going to visit your baby with Andreas."
"No. Don't come here." Jack said to my surprise.
"Whatchu mean? Why did you forbid me?" Ask wonder.
"I don't want to make your condition worse because I have to go through a long journey to visit me. We are in the village of Mama-in-law. You can come when we get back home." Said Jack.
"Are you afraid my disease will spread to your baby?" I asked in an annoyed tone.
"Oh my God, Velicia. It's not. Really, we're not home. Wait I'll let you know when we get back. I'd love to see you holding your niece."
"alright. Then give my regards to brother-in-law. May she recover quickly, and do not forget my dear greetings to the baby." I said, who then hung up the phone.
One week later, Merry gave birth.
The birth of a baby is one of the moments that are always awaited for most married couples. Especially for Merry and Hansen who are a new couple who are looking forward to the presence of their first child in the family. No wonder, in every moment of birth the child is always filled with a sense of happiness and joy.
This happy and joyful atmosphere certainly also came with me when I saw Merry who had just finished her delivery process. Not only happiness, but also gratitude to see my best friend and his son born healthy. In addition to visiting Merry as a form of attention, I also provide support for him to carry out his new role as a parent. Even though I don't know what it's like to be a parent.
I went into Merry's room, where he was accompanied by Hansen and Grandma. I felt so happy when I saw baby Merry for the first time. However, this also strengthened my desire to have children. But, I realized that I would not be able to conceive, until anytime.
Having children is the hope of all married couples. To me, a baby is a lamp of life for the family. The fruit of the heart is also an extraordinary gift given by God and should always be grateful. The presence of babies in the middle of married life makes the atmosphere of home and life more colorful.
And when the baby is finally born into the world, parents must hope the best for the baby to become a useful human being and loved by many people. And, I hope if given the opportunity to be a parent, even if it's from an adopted child. I will take care of her and guide her to adulthood.
Merry looked at me with a face that looked weak. However, the smile on his lips continued to expand.
"For my dear friend, congratulations on the birth of your first child. Blessing to you and your family. I'm so happy with the birth of your beautiful baby boy. May goodness and blessing be with you and your baby. May in the future be a child who is always devoted to both parents. Hopefully with the presence of this baby boy can add happiness to the father and mother and all family members. May he grow healthy to old and God give him blessing." I said as I rubbed the back of Merry's hand gently.
Merry's eyes glazed over, and he looked at the baby lying next to him.
"You carrying her?" Merry asked, which surprised me.
"I-i!" I don't know why I suddenly got nervous.
"Older, I'll also ask him to call you Mama. Carry on." Merry's words made me so moved.
Slowly Grandma Hansen picked up the tiny baby and gave it to me. Honestly, I was trembling. This was my first experience holding a baby. I looked at the little baby in my arms.
"Welcome to the world, handsome boy. Congratulations also to your mother who has been struggling to give birth to you, this handsome baby. You'll definitely be a heart conditioner for both your parents. May the Lord give you blessings and may the Lord give you blessings. When you grow up, you'll be a good boy. And may both of your parents be facilitated, strengthened, and launched in educating and nurturing you to become a successful child of the hereafter." I said at length.
Suddenly heard from the direction of the door, Andreas' voice confirmed my words.
When he came to the hospital this afternoon, Andreas was indeed unable to accompany me because he was in the middle of an important meeting.
"Congratulations." Andreas said to Hansen.
"Thank you." Hansen's Reply.
Andreas and Hansen seemed to talk for a while and then left the room together, maybe the two wanted to chat together. Now I'm left, Merry and Grandma in the room. Baby Merry suddenly cries. I panicked, and immediately put it back next to Merry.
"What's wrong with him, Grandma. I didn't pinch it." My speech.
Grandma could only laugh, then explain everything slowly.
"So, if the cry is like that, it's a sign that he's hungry." Said Grandma while giving a code to Merry to immediately give breast MILK to her baby.
Merry nodded, then immediately gave breast milk to the baby.
“Being a mother is a learning process that never ends,” Grandma said as she patted my shoulder. Being a mother must be strong. It is okay for a man to be weak. A mother cannot be weak. A woman cannot be a weak mother. Because her son needs a mother far greater than any need. You have to stay strong for your children." Continue Grandma.
The woman who had felt like a mother for decades looked at me and Merry was sharp. As if trying to convince us, that we both heard and understood every word he said.
Grandma's words were indeed scattered like rain. And I am like a fractured earth gulps greedily every time the grain of its sentence touches my heart. I'm tergugu.
However, can I be as she says if given the chance to be a mother? Who never complains even though the heavy weight carried is able to knock out the bones? Can I live a routine that is so dense and tiring to lead children to success?
Looks like I can. Moreover, seeing the adorable face of Merry's tiny baby that I can lay aside for a while made me fall in love with the baby figure.
So, after coming home the other night. I started to express my wishes to my husband.
"I want to adopt a child. Hmmm if you need a baby. Is there?" I asked Andreas as we lay cuddled in bed.
"Are you sure?" Ask Andreas.
"100 percent." My answer.
Andreas then kissed my head gently.
"Alright if that's what you want. I agree, if that makes you happy." Her speech.
I was getting my arms around him. My husband never refused my wishes. And that's what made me feel even more fortunate to be loved by him.
"Thank you dear. I love you." My speech.
"I love you too." The reply.
Seriate....
