One Night's Mistakes (Love's Wrong)

No less than a hundred people gathered in a large meeting room. Their faces looked puzzled as they did not know what to collect there for. Kevin, the main director is a person who has made the employees temporarily stop their work activities.

A long table was placed at the front of the room, equipped with five microphones on it. A projector screen has also been set up. In a short period of time, Kevin really thought things through carefully.

Everyone present held their breaths as five people entered the room and sat behind a long table. The five men are Kevin, Jeany, Lisa, Vera and one middle-aged man with glasses they don't know. Kevin sits in the middle flanked by Jeany and Lisa. Vera sat next to Lisa while holding a stack of papers with a tense face.

Jeany was also very nervous. Sitting in front like that made him the center of attention. He never liked being in the spotlight. Juli, Anet, Febi and all of his division teammates also looked towards him with faces asking for an explanation. Cold sweat began to wash over his back and his heart was racing. But he forced himself to be brave. Trust me, said Kevin earlier when asked him to sit in front.

Another with Lisa who did not look nervous at all. He feels like a victim here. Another woman was trying to take her fiance. And seeing Jeany sitting behind the long table, he could already guess who the other woman was. Lisa clenched her hands, wanting to teach the person who had snatched Kevin away from her.

Without wasting any time, Kevin immediately put his lips closer to the microphone and began to speak.

"Good morning, everybody."

Kevin's voice was clearly heard to the corner of the room. The large projector screen also displayed itself so that the people in the back row could see that expressionless handsome face. After making sure his voice could be heard clearly, Kevin continued his sentence.

"I gather you all here to straighten out the news that has spread. Regarding the photo of my engagement to Lisa, I declare the engagement true."

There was a faint boisterous sound in the room, which instantly disappeared as Kevin continued his words.

"Before the engagement took place, I was not in a relationship with anyone because I could not forget my ex-wife. But my sick mother wanted me to get married. I am so grateful to Lisa, my best friend for volunteering to help me grant my mother's request. Until here I hope everyone understands that the engagement is not done on the basis of love. Actually, before the engagement photos went viral, I had already canceled the engagement."

Again there were whispers and murmurs commenting on Kevin's shocking statement. People's views point to Lisa, whose facial features now seem to harbor emotions. As for Jeany, he hides his surprise because Kevin lied about his ex-wife.

The finance division staff looked at each other with wide eyes. As well as the other division staff, all looked extremely shocked.

Suddenly Lisa's voice sounded high breaking the hubbub.

"Don't lie to you, Vin! What ex-wife! You canceled our engagement because you seduced this cheap woman, right?! Though you know he had an illegitimate child with another man!"

Lisa's desire to humiliate Jeany was really strong. Before Jeany said anything, Kevin had snapped at Lisa.

"Shut your mouth!! What you call a bastard is my son!!" The high tone of Kevin's voice sounded in unison with the sound of a punch on the table.

Everyone was shocked including Lisa. Only the bespectacled middle-aged man sitting beside Jeany remained listening quietly. It seemed like he had watched quite often the drama of household life so that nothing else could really surprise him.

Kevin gave a further explanation.

"When I parted ways with Jeany, I didn't know she was pregnant with my child. I just found out after we met back at this office." Kevin's voice rang out showing his regret.

"That's right."

Somehow, Henny suddenly appeared there. The woman carrying her thin body walked forward. Kevin stood up and let the mother take his place. Henny took a short breath before speaking in front of the microphone.

"introduce. I am Henny Wijaya, wife of Alan Wijaya, the majority shareholder in the company, and mother of Kevin Wijaya. And I was the one who made my son part with the woman he loved." Henny's eyes looked teary as she looked towards Jeany. "I was very much against their relationship. I did everything I could to separate them."

Everyone looked on Jeany.

"Now in front of all of you I would like to apologize to my daughter-in-law .. for having made her part with her husband, and for making her suffer giving birth and raising my granddaughter by herself. Jeany, will you forgive me?" Henny spoke while holding Jeany's hand.

A sense of haru filled Jeany's chest cavity seeing Henny unreservedly apologizing to her in the presence of so many people. "Yes I have forgiven Mama" he replied sincerely.

Some of the female employees who witnessed the moment were unable to hold back their tears.

"What about me, Vin?! You can't just cancel our engagement!!" lisa's shouting has gone from her seat.

"I'm sorry, Lis. Before the engagement you knew I never loved you, you were the one who insisted. All I've loved is Jeany."

Kevin's words smeared Lisa's face. Intentions want to humiliate Jeany, even he who was humiliated. The gazes of the people at him implied a noiseless scorn. A scorn on a woman who imposes her love on a man who clearly already loves another woman.

"It seems so true that Mr. Kevin loves Jeany! Yeah, well, our friends see for themselves meatballs!" July speaks out in defense of Jeany.

The scorn is now voiced out loud until it is heard into Lisa's ears. The woman ran away from the meeting room because she was unable to endure her embarrassment.

Kevin kept a cold face. He had warned Lisa, but she vilely called her son and Jeany an illegitimate child in front of hundreds of employees. In order to maintain the good name of his small family, he would do anything even if he had to humiliate Lisa.

The next sentence from Kevin was spoken in a tone that did not indicate any compromise.

"After this, I hope that no bad words have been circulated regarding the cancellation of my engagement to Lisa nor my marriage to Jeany. My lawyer will explain what the legal sanctions are for those who defame my family."

Kevin then invites his mother and Jeany to leave the meeting room. The conversation was taken over by a middle-aged man who turned out to be the advocate.

Vera spread the letter she had typed to all the employees there. The letter that contains a statement agrees not to spread negative news as said by Kevin earlier. All employees are required to put their signatures on the stamped statement.

Although Lisa is her best friend, Vera can't do anything to defend her. He is just an ordinary employee who must obey the orders of superiors. Especially after hearing Kevin's explanation in the conference, he knew his best friend was in the wrong position.

Jeany did not go back to her room. Henny asked him to come to Kevin's room.

"Why did you suddenly appear in the meeting room?" ask Kevin.

Jeany is unaware that Lisa is standing behind her. He almost collided with the woman while turning his body.

"We talked in the meeting room."

"I'm pregnant with Kevin's son, Jean. You have to cancel your marriage with him. He must be responsible!"

Jeany did not show her anxiety. He kept a flat face. "I know you're lying, Lis."

Jeany clenched her hands tightly under the table. "Trus why?" he said with a face that doesn't care. "Can you give birth and raise that child without his real father? Just like I used to."

After saying that ultimate sentence, Jeany left Lisa with her cheesy theatrics. At least that's what she expected, that Lisa was just having a show. He paused for a moment to catch his quick roaring breath from anger.

The footsteps he had originally directed towards the finance division changed rapidly towards the main director's room.

"Jeany?" Kevin was so shocked that his lover opened the door and closed it back in a loud voice, almost like being slammed. "Why you?"

"My jawab. Did you ever sleep with Lisa?"
