"You are like you've known for a long time."
That sentence is no longer a question. It was only now that Vivian realized the conversation between Revan and Vanessa was not like the business partner she had first met. His suspicions were immediately proven because Revan was in no way in denial.
"We've known her before, but she's not my boyfriend."
"Trus what? Your one night stand?"
"Only friends have ever been to college together in America."
"Wow ...." Vivian clicked her tongue in dramatic style. "It turns out he has known since college in America. Why is this story now?"
"Are you interested in my college life?"
"No need to go out, Rev. You didn't tell me because I was suspicious, did you?"
Revan closed his eyes while exhaling a tired breath. His facial expression seemed to say he was tired of facing Vivian's accusations. "You ask him directly," he broke up after opening his eyes.
The man took his cell phone and made a call. The voice of the voice connecting the call broke the silence in the room. Vivian immediately understood that Revan was activating the loudspeaker feature.
It didn't take long, the call was received. "Hi, Van. What's up? Don't tell me you miss me."
Vanessa's spoiled hoarse voice when greeting Revan makes Vivian want to swear. Which wife is not angry to hear another woman flirt with her husband?
Unable to vent her anger on Vanessa, Vivian pinched Revan's arm. The man's eyes widened in shock, but his voice remained calm as he spoke.
"Sorry to interrupt your break, Nes. Something my wife and I want to ask." Revan approached Vivian and showed her the phone screen. Apparently he made a video call.
"Oh Hi, Vivian. What can I help you with?" Vanessa smiled very kindly at Vivian. That smile got no reply.
"Vivian wanted to know why you had confessed to being my girlfriend" Revan explained.
"Oh that ...." Vanessa's mouth launched an amused laugh that made Vivian's forehead wrinkle. "I was just kidding."
"Just kidding?" exclaim Vivian not believe it.
"Yeah, well .... Seeing you look so angry again, I'm a prank."
"Not to be trusted! Don't you know the impact of your funny joke?" Vivian said furiously.
"I'm sorry, okay? You weren't polite to me either. So let's just say we're even." It seems that Vanessa did not take the matter seriously.
Before Vivian could answer, Revan had pulled her phone. "Thank you so much for the clarification, Nes. See you tomorrow" he said, ending the video call.
"What the hell see you tomorrow?!" Vivian looked at her husband in annoyance.
"You've heard it all, haven't you? My meeting with Vanessa today was purely for the benefit of the company. And tomorrow is the schedule of the signers of his contract."
"Why should you intervene? What is the point of a marketing manager?"
"I'm the chief director who is also the director of marketing. It is not easy to persuade Vanessa to want to become a brand ambassador for our products. She must have felt unappreciated that I didn't take the time to meet."
Vivian silently looked at Revan's face. He considered the man's words. Vanessa's career is at the top. He is also an artist who is known to be selective in choosing the ads he will star in. But the product that he starred in is definitely sold hard in the market. Vanessa's big name seems to be a guarantee of marketing success.
It is natural that Vanessa who is used to being hailed by her fans is offended by Vivian's attitude earlier. With a heavy heart Vivian had to admit that all of Revan's remarks did make sense.
But how close is Vanessa's relationship with Revan until the woman dares to throw jokes out of bounds? The way he interacted with Revan also could not be said to be reasonable. Too much physical touch.
"Are you really close to Vanessa?" Vivian asked with her eyes staring hard.
"You do realize he's been flirting with you many times?"
"I'm not tempted."
"But—"
"Vi." Revan cut Vivian's speech. "There's always going to be people like Vanessa. We can't possibly continue this marriage if you can't trust me."
Vivian is back. Of course he wants to continue their marriage. However it was still difficult for him to trust one hundred percent on Revan.
"Aren't you interested in Vanessa one bit?" Since all the doubts stemmed from Vanessa's presence, Vivian wanted to know Revan's opinion of the woman.
"Pull. Of course interested. I'm a normal man."
Disappointment was clearly reflected on Vivian's face. Although he expected honesty, it was not an answer like this that he wanted to hear.
"If you're interested why don't you date him?"
"Because it's just physical attraction. Men are interested in seeing beautiful women is common," replied Revan as it is. "Never crossed my mind to cheat. I don't want to hurt you."
"But you asked for a divorce, Rev! Do you think it didn't hurt me?"
"We talk while sitting down." Revan pointed at his ivory-white living room sofa, then sat himself in the middle of the sofa.
After being asked to sit down, Vivian only realized the pain in both legs. He took his place at the end of the sofa, as far away from Revan as possible.
Revan saw Vivian keeping a distance with him without commenting anything. He turned his body towards the woman and began to speak in a serious tone. "I was very disappointed with you at the time. You are too busy with work. You don't involve me in anything either. I don't feel valued as a husband."
"And you think getting divorced is the best decision?"
"I felt like our marriage was a mistake." Revan acknowledged. "But when Ma'am Mi called and said you were sick, I was very anxious and finally came home to see your condition."
"You went home to pick up the divorce papers," Vivian reminded.
"I was forced to do that to see which one was your priority. There's no point in maintaining a marriage if we always go back to the same pattern."
"So our problem has nothing to do with Vanessa?"
"I think the conversation about Vanessa has been over since then" complained Revan with a bored face.
"Frankly I still have a hard time believing, Rev."
"What other way do I have to make you believe? For God's sake, I'm not cheating at all."
Vivian knew Revan wasn't the one who would haphazardly mention the name of God. If he does, it means he really meant what he said. After all, there was no evidence to suggest her husband had cheated on her. Upon recollection, Revan also never responded to Vanessa's temptation.
"Yes, I believe." Vivian decided to keep her household.
"Thank you." A sense of relief made Revan smile so brightly. He moved his seat closer to his wife. "Are you really going to resign?"
"Yes." Yeah."
Seeing Vivian nod with force, Revan ventured to wipe the woman's hair and spoke what was on her mind in a soft voice.
"Don't be sad. I didn't mean to forbid you from working. I know career is important to you. You can work, but it can't be to the point of sacrificing family. I want us to co-parent and educate the child."
After hearing Revan's words, Vivian who should be happy even sobbed.
