Kevin squatted down a bit to pick up the dropped object near Jeany's leg. He gave it to the woman and noticed that the hand that received it trembled slightly. They are now standing face to face.
"Thank you" Jeany said, looking down, nervous that Kevin was giving her such a deep look.
"You ... have been living in Jakarta?" ask the man.
"Yes." Yeah." Jeany then ventured to look at the man in front of her. His heart is beating fast. After a long time, the man still looked so admirable in his eyes. "Have you returned from Singapore?"
"My mom asked me to come back. I was forced to give it to her because she was sick with cancer."
Hearing the man's mother being called, Jeany immediately pursed her lips. With hateful eyes, he expressed what was on his mind. "He deserves it."
"What did you say?" Kevin barely believed his hearing.
"I told you mom you deserved it."
"Jeany! You blame my mama for being against our relationship? You were the one who asked to break up!"
Jeany held onto the man's sleeve. "Vin, it's actually me-"
"Kevin! Why don't you go in, stand outside? I've been waiting a long time."
A woman's voice sounded familiar to Jeany's hearing. He took off his grip on Kevin's shirt and turned his head. It is fitting that he felt like he had heard the voice, because it turns out the owner is a marketing manager at the company where he works.
"Well, Jeany? What are you doing here?" lisa asks who is surprised to see Jeany talking to Kevin.
"I've taken a print order with brownies, ma'am," Jeany replied with a polite call because Lisa's position in the office was higher than her.
"Oh .... How could I talk to Kevin?"
Lisa calls Kevin's name so warm, making Jeany feel bad.
"She's a high school friend of my old college friend" Kevin replied quickly, clearly not wanting anyone else to know that Jeany was his ex-girlfriend.
"What a coincidence dong! Jeany's the finance staff in our office, Vin!" lisa with a big smile. Her heart was excited, finally there was a chance to introduce Kevin as her future husband to an office friend. Although he was a little regretful why the office friend should be the most quiet woman in the finance division. The happy news will not be spread in the office.
Kevin looked back at Jeany. They have an office, he thought. It turns out that there are things that can be so coincidental in this world. The man's gaze looked even more jaded considering their past. Finally you can work in the place of your dreams, Jean, he said in his heart.
"Because Jeany is your old friend, why would she know our relationship, Vin?" Lisa asked her fiance, who was only silent as if she had not heard the question.
"Relationship?" Jeany unconsciously mimicked Lisa's words.
"Hehe but don't tell anyone yes, Jean. So I'm the same Kevin just fiancee and next month want to get married! So now again here want to choose the invitation design. Oh yeah since you're here too, how about you help pick one too?"
Jeany stood still for a moment. His brain was trying to digest the painful news. His heart refused. But that's the reality that now has to face. It turns out that the fiancee Bu Lisa talked about by her office friend is Kevin, a former lover whom she still loves very much. Meanwhile, Kevin just silently scrutinized Jeany's facial expression.
"Oh." Finally Jeany was only able to answer with one syllable.
"Let's go in, Jean. Help me choose the invitation design?" bring Lisa again.
"I'm sorry, Mom, I have to hurry home. Excuse me."
Jeany just left. Lisa looked at it in wonder. "It's rude" he commented.
"He's been in the office for a long time, Lis?" Kevin asked as he continued to watch Jeany who was taking out the motorcycle from the parking lot.
"Yes, it's not wrong for two years. You know, when he first entered it was a debate in the personnel division."
"Why is that?"
"Soalah Pak Pras insisted on choosing him who graduated from High School. Though the rules in the company for staff positions must be at least S1. But because the work was good it was finally left until now."
So he didn't go to college? Kevin asked in his heart.
"Yuk in, Vin. We've been waiting for the printing man."
Kevin said after seeing Jeany off on his motorcycle. The man asked in his heart. Why didn't her husband pick her up?
After entering, it turns out that the printing employees who serve them are Angga, Kevin's coworkers first.
"Well, Kevin you can finally go to the next level. So this is the girl who makes you willing to be kicked out of the house and work banging? It's a wonderful journey of love." Angga continued to chatter, not realizing he had said things that should not be said.
"No. Kevin has broken up from the girl" Lisa replied firmly. He doesn't like Kevin's ex-girlfriend being mentioned anymore.
"Why can you break up?" tanya Angga.
"You still work here, don't you?" Kevin asked to shift the subject.
"Well that is how it is," answered Angga without burden. "It turns out it's not easy to set up your own printing press. Losses continued, I finally closed. Good thing Boss is kind enough to accept me working here again. I was really shocked when I found out you were the boss' cousin."
Kevin just answered with a smile.
"What is this design, Vin?" Lisa interrupts because her goal is not to hear the story of her fiance's past.
"It's up to you" Kevin replied unenthusiastically.
"Later the color of this writing is replaced by the gold color how?"
"It's up to you."
They finally chose the design as Lisa wanted. After discussing the invitation which turned out to take quite a long time, Kevin now drove Lisa to his residence in an apartment complex. Along the way the man just kept silent, thinking about his meeting with Jeany earlier.
"You think of the printing man?" ask Lisa.
There's no answer.
"You really got out of the house for your ex?"
Kevin nodded.
"You love him so much. Then why did you break up?"
Lisa was eager to find out what kind of woman that could make the cold man so many years tormenting himself in loneliness and empty hope. But now he's Kevin's fiancee. Like it or not, the man must immediately erase his past.
"Vin, we're getting married soon. Even if you can't love me yet, please respect my feelings. Don't think about that woman anymore."
Kevin sighed, giving no answer. Lisa was right, he thought. He shouldn't think about Jeany anymore. Because she belongs to someone else, to her best friend.
***
Jeany accidentally opened the glass helmet in the hope that the wind was able to dry her face wet by tears. The woman tried to concentrate on riding her motorcycle even though her heart was raging. His mind goes back seven years to when he came to Kevin's house after finding out he was pregnant.
"Den Kevin is still in Singapore, Non" Mr. Darto said at the time.
"If Sister Winda is there?"
"There, but how well I don't dare ngijinin Non in. I'll be scolded by Madam."
"I promise it won't be long. Please, sir, this is important!"
Perhaps because he saw his face so clear, the security guard of the house so heartless and finally allowed him to enter.
"How dare you enter my house?! Who let you in?!" He did not meet with Winda because Kevin's mother had already known his arrival.
"August ...." Jeany was really scared to see Henny glaring at her.
"Go from here!" Henny pulled her hand.
"Tante, help me, Auntie. Sa-I'm pregnant ...!"
Hearing that, Henny stopped pulling him and looked at him sharply. "What?"
"I'm pregnant with Kevin's son, Aunt ...."
"Don't talk carelessly! It must be just your wits to be back with my son!"
"I'm not lying. It's the result of his USG." Jeany's hand trembled as she took a photo from inside her bag.
For a while Henny noticed the black and white photo given by Jeany. Then he smiled. "Then we have to check up on my future grandchildren. Don't let him do anything."
At first Jeany thought that Henny had accepted her because she was carrying flesh and blood from the woman's son. But he was wrong. Kevin's mom took him to a horrible place.
"Please abort this fetus. Pity my child for giving birth to a rape baby" Henny said there, throwing out a lump of money.
Some people immediately took Jeany into a room. It looked like a variety of equipment that looked very scary. He was struggling.
"Please don't throw this baby away, Auntie! He's Kevin's son, Auntie's grandson!"
"I don't care! I don't want to have a grandchild! That bastard is not my grandson!! That must be Randy's son or another man sleeping with you!" Henny then spoke to the person who seemed to be in charge of the abortion. "Please do the operation immediately."
"Good, Mom. Please wait outside."
Henny walked out of the room, leaving Jeany alone. Jeany remembers she ran after Henny and hugged the woman's leg, begging her to change her decision.
"Please don't do this, Auntie! Don't throw my baby away! He really is Kevin's son. I want to give birth to her!" Her cries were getting louder at Kevin's mom's feet.
Henny pushed him rough and continued walking. Jeany felt her hands held and her body forced to walk towards the operating table. He finally cried out in despair. "I beg you, Auntie! I-I'll do anything just so don't dump my baby!"
Henny halted her steps and turned to face Jeany. "Are you going to do anything?" tanyanya sharp.
"Yes, Aunt ...." Jeany answered. He knelt on the floor with tears flowing.
"Go away and don't disturb my child's life anymore. If you ever get close to Kevin again, I'll make sure you can't give birth to that bastard safely!"
After that, Jeany no longer remembers how she got to her boarding house. All he remembered, his mind was very messy. How will she conceive, give birth and raise the child alone? In the midst of that death, Randy came to offer her a wish
"Well, Jean. Let me take responsibility for the boy."
Since then, none of Kevin's family members have been in contact. He stopped hoping. Henny was so cruel to him. Now he hates that woman so much, hates her to the bone marrow.
Jeany's left hand moved back to wipe away the tears that had soaked her cheek. How many times he remembered the incident, the pain remained the same. Now fate reunites him with the father of the child he was born with. But he knew it was too late. That man belongs to someone else.
Nothing wrong, he thought. Time has passed so long ago. It's only natural that Kevin has forgotten himself and is in a relationship with another woman. He may have forgotten the man, had he ....
If only no boy would now welcome his return with a cheerful laugh. "Horeee mom comes home ...!" Kenny ran over to his mother. He looked at Jeany with his face that was plain adorable. The smile on his face disappeared. "Mama why cry?"
Jeany quickly rubbed her eyes and cheeks to wipe away any remaining tears. "Mama is not crying. Mom's eyes were dusting. Now it's a gapapa" he replied, forcing himself to smile.
Not long after Prasetyo car entered the parking lot of the house. Mita's husband had just arrived.
"Why don't you come in, Jean?"
"I'm just like Kenny going straight home, Mom. Please leave it to Mita."
Jeany did not want to show her sad face to her best friend. He hugged his son to their own dwelling, a small house that was enough to protect them from the scorching sun and rain, and where they shared their affection.
After warming up the food she had cooked this morning, Jeany took her son to dinner. He frowned seeing Kenny chewing something.
"What did you eat, Kenny?"
"Brown, Ma."
"Oo Mami's love, huh?"
"Mothers at school are loving. Mama want?" Kenny handed the half-living chocolate to his mother.
Jeany accepts and examines the chocolate. Nothing suspicious, he thought. He looked back at Kenny. "Next time don't carelessly accept food from unknown people, dear."
"The mother is good, Ma. Poor thing earlier he fell off his hair, Kenny took it."
Kenny eagerly recounted his activities during the past day at school. Jeany was serious about listening to Kenny's story, wanting to hear how the boy's first day of school came. He looked at Kenny's face as he chattered, and involuntarily sighed. Kenny's face always reminded him of the boy's father. Now they have an office. Somehow he had to go about his working days after this.
