One Night's Mistakes (Love's Wrong)

One Night's Mistakes (Love's Wrong)
DB 7 - Child Responsibility

Vivian has heard that the most effective way to get rid of sadness is to get busy. Therefore, for seven days after Revan left their home, he got even crazier working. Departing early in the morning and coming home very late, so that when he got home, all he needed to do was sleep.

Vivian did not give herself a chance to think about her unstable husband. He was sure that after some time, the man would regret leaving him. As always, Revan will always come back to her. Just don't cheat, he thought. If that happens, he swears he'll destroy Revan and whoever that damn woman is.

Vivian's intention to forget her household problems was helped by the new activities in the office. On the eve of the Lunar New Year, he and the Relationship Managers prepare parcels that will be given to debtors celebrating Chinese New Year. Vivian herself personally delivered the parcels to several debtors with whom she had a close relationship.

That afternoon, he was already in one of the hotels on the outskirts of Surabaya. Not a luxury hotel, but its occupancy rate of 70% clearly shows its ability to survive in the midst of intense business competition.

The owner of the hotel is a beautiful woman named Imelda Mulya, one of Vivian's debtors who is now also a close friend. Until now Vivian still hard to believe he can be friendly with Imelda, the person he had swiped in heart at the first meeting because it let him stand very long when he offered the woman a business loan product.

The hotel building owned by Imelda was not as neat as it is now. The twenties-year-old building looked bleak and spooky, leaving potential guests uninterested in staying there. Imelda completely remodeled the building into a modern building that is comfortable to live in, of course with the funds he got from the credit offered by Vivian.

A hotel employee escorted Vivian to Imelda's large and comfortable office space. The woman immediately approached Vivian, warmly welcoming a friend she had not seen for a long time.

"There's a wind what the super duper's busy Mother Vivian suddenly came to visit?" Imelda pretended to be surprised at Vivian's arrival.

"Many cingcong of you! Don't see what I'm holding anymore?"

Imelda laughed out loud. "Don't be fierce dong same debtor," he protested, then received the parcel brought by Vivian.

"It's okay with your debtor."

After replying, Vivian immediately sat down on Imelda's dark brown leather sofa, resting her body for a while after driving far enough away.

"I'm thirsty, Mel," Vivian said without further ado.

Imelda laughed again. Vivian's straightforward attitude that made her feel like she had a match for the woman. "What do you want to drink, Buk?"

Vivian's view fell on the glass cabinet on the left side of Imelda's room. Various bottles of alcoholic beverages lined up neatly there. "Is there alcohol?" he asked Imelda because he knew the bottles he saw only served as displays.

Imelda followed Vivian's direction. He immediately grinned. "You want to be your drunk swordsman?"

"Just want to know what makes people addicted to drinking alcohol" replied Vivian, remembering her papa.

"Well, let's go nongki-nongki at the bar if we want to know. The day after tomorrow I'm free. How's it?" Imelda immediately invited with enthusiasm. He opened the refrigerator and took a can of soft drink to Vivian.

"Thanks," replied Vivian receiving the can of cold drink. "I'll tell you there's time."

"What that means will never be realized" Imelda said as she sat next to Vivian and crossed her arms, looking at her friend with a sour face.

Instead, Vivian smiled brightly. "Are you so sure?"

"Where are you sure? How many times have you PHP-in me? Since rising, your time is up just for work."

"That's because I have a career goal. To achieve that there has to be some sacrifice, right? Like a time for fun."

Vivian slightly flinched. He forgot his friend didn't know he was married.

"Care work at my hotel. The second branch needs people. I can give you a higher salary than where you are now. And certainly you will not often overtime," persuaded Imelda for the umpteenth time.

"No, thanks." Vivian answered quickly. "I want to succeed at something that I really start from zero, not because I get privilege."

Pioneering a career from a very basic level, Vivian is eyeing the position of chief director at the bank where she works. The position will make him able to stand upright and fit to step beside a Revan Halim.

"So what if you're lucky to have privilege?" Imelda began to argue. He who was born from a family of entrepreneurs does not accept if his success is said solely because it has a "privilege". "That said so just focus on their envy because they don't have that privilege. Even though without the cleverness to manage the business, the privilege is completely useless. Take a look, there are so many family businesses that go bankrupt after being held by the next generation."

"Yes I know," replied Vivian, fully understanding her best friend's intentions. "Your hotel is a real testament to your hard work."

"So how, would you consider working at my hotel?"

Without needing to think again Vivian immediately shook her head. "Not for the near future." As much as possible he avoids the possibility that he always avoids, which is considered to take advantage of his close relationships with rich people.

The Chinese New Year atmosphere in the Vivian family home is like no different from a normal day. Slender. There are only a few additional red decorations attached to the doors and walls of the house. A house that has absolutely no family warmth in it, Vivian thought upon entering the house. He came home only so as not to be branded as an ungodly child.

"Mama, kiong hi. Papa, kiong hi," he said without the slightest happy expression. He gave a thick red envelope to his parents.

Papa Vivian simply nodded, then continued her activities of watching the news on television. Vivian was used to the cold attitude of her papa. His affection for the old man had also long since faded. How could he consider her a biological father, if the man himself repeatedly denied Vivian's status as his daughter?

Then where's Vivian's birth papa? For now he does not want to think about it. Her life had been fine without the presence of a male whose role accounted for only half of the number of chromosomes in her body.

Mama Vivian took out a flour fried basket cake and placed it on the living room table. Vivian immediately ate a cake that was only served on the Chinese holiday. He likes the crisp texture of fried flour dough and the softness of the glutinous rice-based cake. The sweet and savory taste melted on Vivian's tongue at the same time, tasted delicious to her.

After serving a red soda, Vivian's mother sat down and watched her daughter enjoy a basket cake. "So Revan called saying kiong hi with Papa Mama. He apologized for not being able to come because his family celebrated sincia in Singapore. Why don't you go with them there, Vi?"

I can't believe Revan still appreciates my parents. Vivian sat on the sidelines of her shock. He answered her question in brief. "I can't leave the job."

The sound of feet being pushed to the floor. Mama Vivian's face looked very upset. "From the beginning, aren't you smart?! Mama told you, try to take the heart of Revan's parents! You should come with them to Singapore, not even take care of your useless work!"

It wasn't Vivian's name if she didn't retaliate when she was denigrated. For Vivian, her job was her pride. "The salary from my work that Mama said was pointless to have paid for David's college for five years! And covered up your living expenses all this time!"

"That's your responsibility as a child! Difficult to care for from childhood until now successfully have a rich husband, if not you who else can Papa Mama expect?!"

The mother and son had a fight on the day of the new year that should have been passed with happiness.
