Chapter 90: Practicing Archery, John (Part 1)

"Call me, brother," said William slowly. "Brother boy."

"Call me Grandpa" persuaded James. "Grandfather"

Instead of an answer, what the boy and the old man heard was the sound of the baby gurgling.

"Did you hear that, Grandpa?" William asked with a satisfied expression. "Eve called me Brother."

"No, you fool," argued James. "Obviously, said Grandpa."

"It's Brother."

"Grandfather."

"Alright, don't fight," said Anna desperately. "You'll scare Eve if you two continue this fight."

Anna was holding a baby girl in her arms as she rebuked William and James. She gave birth while William was doing his training, and this was the first time the boy had seen his cousin.

William is very good at handling babies because this is one of his duties at the orphanage. Seeing his adorable cousin's blue eyes staring at him, the boy felt his heart melt.

“Auntie, can I hold Eve?” William begged. “I promise will be careful.”

"Do you know how to hold a baby?" Anna asked.

"Yes." Yeah."

"OK. it's good that he gets to know his cousin as early as possible.”

When Anna handed Eve to William, the little girl's face shriveled like she was about to cry. Fortunately, the red-haired boy had anticipated this scenario and lightly swung the baby in his arms while humming a song.

Eve looked at her older cousin and started to make a gurgling sound. William could not help but kiss the baby on his forehead. He then lightly swayed from side to side as he continued to cradle a song.

Eve falls asleep in William's arms, which surprises Anna and James.

"I didn't know that you were so good at handling babies" Anna said with a smile.

William simply returned his smile as he handed Eve back to his aunt. He couldn't possibly tell her that he had a lifetime of experience when it came to handling babies and young children.

“I'll be back again to play with you after I finish my training, Eve.” William kissed the baby's cheek before saying goodbye to his Grandpa and Aunt.

Today was the day where he would meet with the next instructor and he was told to go to the valley where the goats usually went grazing.

When he arrived at his destination, a familiar sight appeared before his eyes. Hundreds of sheep and goats graze in the meadow as the Shepherds watch over them. His gaze automatically searched for his herd, but he did not see any of them.

They weren't in their usual places, and William couldn't find them anywhere.

"Are you looking for your flock?" John approached her with a smile.

"Yes" replied William. "Uncle John, where are they?"

"They're in training right now." John grinned. "So are you ready to go?"

William nodded his head understanding. "I'm looking forward to our lesson, Uncle John."

"I am too." John chuckled while patting William on the shoulder. He then looked at the sky where an Eagle was seen circling around them. "Blitz, let's go."

A sharp screech pierced through the air as the Eagle grew in size and flew to the ground.

"Hold tight" said John as he grabbed William by the waist and jumped into the air.

They landed perfectly on Hawk's back. William had never ridden a flying beast before and it made him feel a little anxious. Seeing his reaction, John said nothing and only supported the boy's body as the Eagle flapped its powerful wings to fly high into the sky.

"Do you know what your next lesson is?" John asked in a seductive tone.

"No" replied William nervously. "Does it have anything to do with flying?"

“Yeah, not exactly. It's more about 'falling'.” John grinned.

William's body shuddered and he immediately stuck to John's body like a leech that would not let go.

John laughed as he patted the boy on the head. “I'm just kidding. It was just a joke.”

"Uncle, please don't make such jokes" William asked.

John nodded and did not say anything else throughout their journey. The two travel for an hour before the Blitz lands where William has never been before. The place somehow reminded him of the Silent Forest, but there was one big difference.

This place was filled with life and the roars of various beasts could be heard from within the forest.

"Uncle John, where are we?" ask William. The vast expanse of forest made him uneasy. Due to his perception training, he was able to tell that the forest in front of them was a very dangerous place.

"This is the outer boundary of the Strathmore Forest" John replied. “It was the entrance to one of the Forbidden Lands in the Southern Continent.”

“Hutan Strathmore? Waitaminute! Don't tell me this place.” William looked at John in shock. He might not have come to this place, but he had heard many stories about it.

The Strathmore Forest, the Forbidden Land located in the Southern Continent, and is said to house one of a handful of Disaster-class Beasts around the world. This beast that had lived for Thousands of years had stepped into the ranks of DemiGods. It was none other than the home of the Nightmare Behemoth, Qiong Qi.

(Note: Read as Ki Yong Ki.)

"Calm down, we're just outside" John said. “The Strathmore Forest stretches hundreds of miles and the Big Boss is located at the farthest end. He wouldn't be too bored to find trouble with two little ants like us. Moreover, only those under twenty years of age can enter the Forbidden Land.”

"Uncle John, I'm only eleven."

"I know."

“... Can I go home now?”

"Of course not" John firmly gripped William by the shoulder. “Don't worry, we won't go into the depths of the forest. We'll just play on the outside perimeter. Are you not excited? ”

“Yaaa. I'm so excited." William said in a sarcastic tone.

John chuckled and took out a small bow and tube containing arrows from his storage ring and handed it to William.

"Have you ever used a bow before?" John asked.

"No" replied William.

"Yes." Yeah." William nodded his head. To be honest, he always wanted to learn archery. When he was still on Earth, he often went near the Archery Club to peek at Belle's archery practice.

Not only was she the number one beauty in the academy, she was also an extremely talented archer who had won many awards and gold medals from competitions across the country. William often thought of joining an archery club in order to get close to him, but his illness prevented him from doing so.

The shadow of the black-haired beautiful woman made William grip the bow in his hand tightly. Although he could not learn archery on Earth, it was not too late to study it in Hestia.

"I love your eyes" John praised as he looked at William's light green eyes that lit up with determination. “To learn archery, you first have to learn how to hold a bow.

John demonstrates the correct bow stance using his own bow and shows William a step-by-step process on how to aim and shoot arrows.

William immediately asked the system to change its subclass to Archer. He had the feeling that he could gain experience points for his Archery Class just like he did for Monk Class as he continued his training.

____

A month after John and William arrived at the outskirts of Strathmore Forest…

*dleb!

The sound of arrows hitting its target resounded in the distance.

The wooden arrow hits the mark that John painted on the tree that William was the target of training.

William had a satisfied expression on his face as he looked at John with anticipation. "How's that?"

“Decorating,” replied John while glancing at the arrow. "Your shot is a textbook example of how to hit a target."

"Uncle, what's up with that?" William's confused. "Isn't the goal to reach the target?"

"Indeed. However, you are not using your own abilities to reach the target, ”John frowned. “I don't know how you do it, but this is not the right way to learn archery. Looks like you are using some kind of cheat and it will not be beneficial to your growth in the long run.”

William turned his gaze away from feeling guilty. John was right, he used the passive ability he learned while learning how to shoot arrows.

< I agree with John. Using your Passive Skills will not benefit you in the long run. >

William sighed as he opened his Archery Skill tree to look at the three skills he had learned during his one month of archery training.

< Aiming Precision 10 / 10 >

— When you focus your concentration on aiming, your attacks become very accurate.

— Added +10 Bonus Upgrade to Agility

< Increased Concentration 1 / 10 >

— Greatly improve your concentration when aiming at your target

— Adds +2 Enhancement Bonuses to Agility

< Shoot Long Distance 5 / 5 >

— Allows you to focus your shot at a long distance.

— Increase vision range up to 250 meters.

— Requirements: Bow or Crossbow Weapons.

——

After thinking long and hard, William asked the system if he could help him with the current situation.

< Host the solution is very simple. >

'Oh? I'm listening.'

< All we need to do is disable the Archer Class ability. You can still gain experience points while continuing training, but you will not be able to use skills under the Archery Skill Tree. >

'Perfect! Let's do that!'

< Understood. >

< Disable Successfully >

'System, disable the Shepherd's Working Class ability as well.'

< Understood. >

< Disabling Shepherd Working Class Successfully >

William could feel significant changes in his body due to the loss of passive skills that increased his stats.

The boy put an arrow on his bow and aimed at a marked target in the distance. This time, he could barely see the target using his normal vision.

When William released the arrow, John noticed a significant change in its trajectory. He was an expert Hunter and the boy's last attempt made his eyes widen in surprise. As he had expected, the arrow landed far away from the designated target..

You could even say that it did not even make it past its target as it landed fifty meters away from the tree.

However, instead of nagging William, John happily patted the boy on the shoulder and brandished it.

"Good! Now, take another picture. Remember, practice makes perfect!” John said while urging William to take another picture.

The boy complied and shot another arrow. Just like his previous attempt, the arrow was still far from its target. Even so, William had a smile on his face.

Somehow, she felt that with every failed attempt, she was getting closer to standing on equal footing with the young woman who had made her heart beat fast.
