Chapter 33: Expansion of Lont City

“John, you mean Lont is the only city that survived this disaster?” ask Jekyl.

"Yes" replied John. “Lont is the only city still standing in the West Bank of Hellan Kingdom.”

The atmosphere in the room became heavy as everyone finally understood their current predicament.

Their eyes were fixed on James who was lightly tapping the table with his fingertips.

"Owen, what do you think will happen after the kingdom deals with the current Beast Tide?" James asked.

"What else?" Owen sneered. “Those bastard nobles will fight desperately to gain a foothold in the territory that has lost its owner. They would rain down on the sky like vultures and pick up every piece of meat they could find on this shattered land.

“To be frank, I think we can consider ourselves lucky if they don't come knocking on our door. No greedy trash will miss this opportunity to add land to their region.”

“Of course, there is another possibility,” comments Ava while grinning. "The King will definitely use this as an opportunity to 'give land' to his Knights who have done meritorious work during this important period."

James looked at the territory surrounding Lont and made up his mind.

"Fushia in the North and Xynnar in the East" James said after careful consideration. “Lont is at the farthest end of the Western Region. These two places have been our good neighbors for many years. Since that's the case, we won't let them fall into the hands of those greedy nobles.”

James raised his hand and issued an order. “John, grab the Blitz and fly the Lont flag in Fushia. From today onwards, it will be part of our territory. I'll send some people to help you collect the bodies. We will give them all a proper burial and erect a monument on their behalf.”

"Yes sir!" John nodded and left the room.

“Marcus, Ava, and Jekyll, go to Xynnar and do the same. In the unlikely event that there are any survivors, be sure to take good care of them. I will also send some people to help later. ”

"Ha huh! I like this plan.” Jekyll laughed. “Xynnar is a good place to grow wheat. If we secure it, Lont won't have to worry about its food supply.”

“Fushia is famous for its silver mines.” Ava combed her hair. "The nobles will definitely notice that one."

"Well, it'll depend on their abilities." James sneered. “I want to see what they will do.”

Everyone in the room smiled. They have lived peacefully for years. Some of them were itching to hit some foolish nobles to release their pent-up impulse.

After the meeting was dissolved, Mordred approached her father to talk more about their 'expansion.

"Dad, are you sure about this?" ask Mordred. "The king may not like it."

“I'm sure His Majesty has more important issues than dealing with a little person like us. Compared to us taking some land on the edge of the Western Region, he will be more focused on how to deal with the current Beast Tide, ” James replied. "As long as we don't reach his bottom line, I'm sure he won't object to our shameless attempts to gain control of one or two lands during this period."

"You're right, father," Mordred rubbed his chin in agreement. “Even if we take Fushia and Xynnar, there are still many regions that lose their owners. It will be more than enough to satisfy the nobles.”

"really? That is why, you do not need to worry about this problem, ”comment James. “Also, it will still take a few months before another land is reclaimed. Even greedy nobles would not be able to rebuild this region in such a short period of time. Besides... I feel that this Beast Tide is not over.”

“Eh?” Mordred looked at his father in wonder. "It's not over yet?"

The older man shook his head. “I'm not sure. I just have a disturbing feeling that this Beast Tide is not as simple as it seems. ”

James walked towards the hill overlooking the city of Lont. They had been living on this small piece of land for many years. Life here in the countryside is peaceful. Although it does not have a vibrant city atmosphere, it is still a wonderful place to spend your days in retirement.

“Send the messenger bird. It's time to call them back, ”command James. “At the time everyone had a reunion.”

"They all?" ask Mordred. There was a trace of joy in his voice.

James turned to look at his son with a smile. "They're all."

"Aunt Anna, aren't you supposed to relax instead of doing housework?" ask William. “You're pregnant, right?”

“Who said pregnant women can't do homework?” Anna lightly pinched William's cheek. “Pretty talk. Eat breakfast. Even though you can't go out of town, you still have to take care of the goats. ”

William smiled and nodded his head. After eating his breakfast, he did not go straight to the goat pen. She and her Mama Ella decided to take a walk. William sits on Ella's back as they walk down a familiar path in their hometown.

William watched the children playing in the streets with a smile. He greeted the adults who were busy carrying wolf fur, and waved at the old man who made wolf jerky.

Although Lont City was a small town, it was filled with smiles and life. The two walked up the city wall fortress and gazed into the distance. The Centennial and Millennial Beast bodies are being dismantled by Mr. Bond.

He is willing to do it himself to maintain the quality of goods. William watched the enthusiastic barber as he worked with a serious expression. According to his Grandfather, Aunt Helen would make him a set of clothes made from the skin of a Millennial Beast.

This set of clothes could be considered equivalent to a first-rate light armor that he could wear for any occasion. For this, William is truly grateful.

“Mama Ella, I'm glad we managed to prevent this city from collapsing,” William said after seeing the scene in front of him.

“Meeeeh.”

“I'm just a little worried.”

“Meee?”

"I'm afraid Beast Tide is just the beginning of something bigger."

“…. Meeeh.”

Windermere Fort…

The soldiers guarding the fort walls had grim expressions on their faces as they looked at the Beast Tide who was slowly, but surely approaching them. This was not the first time they had encountered a Beast Tide, but the one now far exceeded their expectations.

“Tuanku, it would be better if we ask for reinforcements from the capital,” Mont, the Deputy General guarding the fortress proposes. "If we don't receive immediate aid, I'm afraid the fort will be stormed in two days."

"You're right." General Erith sighed and nodded her head. “Send our fastest messenger eagle to the capital. Let them know that we need the Gryphon Brigade to help us in battle!”

"Come, General!" The general's assistant stepped out of the conference room to carry out his superior's orders.

Erith left the conference room and walked up to the fortress wall. All the high-ranking officers in Windermere followed behind him.

General Erith looked at his trusted aides and the soldiers who were waiting for his orders.

He then raised his fist into the air and made a statement.

“Whatever happens, Windermere Fortress should not fall!! When we fail, the Hellan Kingdom will collapse. Our mothers, brothers, sisters, wives, and children, will then become the food of these monsters! Do you want this to happen ?! ”

""No!""

"Then fight!" General Erith roared as he unsheathed his sword and pointed it at the Beast Tide who was slowly approaching the fortress wall. “Fight for all you love in this world! Let's send this rotten monster to hell! Death to the enemies of the Kingdom!”

""Death!""

"Destroy them all!"

""Kill!""

"Farmer!" General Erit ordered. "Magician, prepare your spell!"

Thousands of archers filled their bows with arrows and aimed.

Hundreds of Magicians started chanting their long-range spells.

The archers and magicians focused their attention on the enemy in front of them.

General Erith watched the Beast Tide come within range. He then firmly thrust his sword forward and gave the order to shoot.

"Foot!"

Thousands of flying arrows and spells rained down on the walls of the fort. The Battle of Fort Windermere has officially begun.
