Re:Incarnation System
Chapter 23: The Sheep of Wolves (Part 2)

“Sial!” Marcus cursed loudly as over a hundred wolves darted past him. He knew that it was impossible for the five people to withstand the unstoppable wolf tide alone.

John maintained his position against the Thousand Year Beast and focused all his attention on it.

The other senior shepherds killed the wolves with their weapons as corpses piled up around them. Just like Marcus, they did their best to survive the onslaught.

Seeing that they lost their land, Marcus charged towards his comrades to save them. Thunder snorted as his body grew bigger. The wolf blocking his path was pierced by its sharp fangs and carried along with its cargo.

Standing four meters tall, the Wild Boar easily reached out to the other shepherds and let them ride on its back. It then made a hasty retreat to regroup with the children that would be overtaken by a wave of wolves.

"Ice Armor!"

"Ice Armor!"

"Ice Armor!"

"Ice Armor!"

A veil of blue mist surrounds William, Ella, Ava, Theo, and the other children. William could see the wolves approaching them and decided to prepare for the inevitable battle.

Ava summoned two short swords and prepared to stand up straight. A blade of wind swirled around him as he floated in the air.

"I'll give you time, boys," Ava announced. "William, I leave the rest to you!"

"I'll do my best!" William nodded his head. "Don't die, Aunt Ava!"

“Dumb boy, this is just a wolf boy. How could they kill me? Stop lingering and leave!” Ava ordered.

The children nodded their heads and ran wildly towards the forest. This was the last hurdle they had to cross before they reached the main road leading to the city of Lont.

Ava knew that it would be a miracle if the children could escape from the jungle unscathed. Gripping his weapon, he increased the number of wind blades around him. He will buy as much time as he can. As for whether the children would survive or not, he could only pray to the Gods for their mercy.

William also knew that it was impossible for them to escape from the forest at their speed. Desperate, an idea suddenly popped into the boy's head.

“Theo! Bring the others and climb that tree!” William commanded. "Make sure to go as high as possible and don't make any noise!"

The children were shocked at first, but they were not stupid. They understood what William was trying to tell them and ran towards a tall tree in the distance.

"What about you?" ask Theo. “Don't tell me you're going to face those wolves alone? You are no match for them!”

"I know, but if we don't do something, we'll all die here" William replied with a solemn expression. "Don't worry. I'm too young and too handsome to die. These wolves won't hurt me. Besides, my Mama is here to protect me.”

“Meeeeh!” Ella bleated. He had an expression of determination on his face as his horns started to glow blood red.

"Good! Please careful!" Theo knew that William was right. This was a moment of life and death and if they hesitated, they would all die.

William watched his friends climb the tallest tree in the forest. He didn't know if wolves could climb, but he was sure they would be more interested in fat sheep than four skinny human boys.

“Mass Giving!” William used that skill without batting an eye. He watched his mana points decline dramatically. The fifty goats that were part of his herd shone as their stats increased.

William sighed as he looked at which pitiful point was left in the mana batch.

"Mana regeneration, I'm counting on you!"

Due to William's low intelligence stat, his mana regeneration only increased by one every two seconds. One where every two seconds might seem fast, but during those crucial moments, it would not be enough to turn the tide of the battle.

William observed the goats under his command and checked their stats. Thanks to the Mass Giving, the Shepherd's Way, and the Sheep-Furred Wolf. The Angorian Goat was now slightly stronger than the average Dire Wolf.

Even so, he gnashed his teeth as he ordered the goats to run towards the retreating sheep in the distance.

Immediately, the ground shook as hundreds of wolves entered the forest. Their ferocious roars made William's hair stand on end. His breathing became irregular as his senses sharpened.

"Fighting Forms!" William commanded and the Angorian goat stood in formation V. He had long since descended from Ella and climbed a tall tree not far from them. He knew that keeping her with him would only prevent him from going out.

Although it was a risky move, he believed that this was the best course of action they could take.

All the goats lowered their heads as their horns pointed outside. The figure of the great Ella stood before them like a general leading his men to battle.

A few seconds later, Dire Wolf came into sight. Their fierce appearance coupled with their thick teeth made William shudder. If not for his hand holding the tree bark firmly, he might have already fallen from the tree in shock.

'Mama, I hope you win this battle, ' William prayed. He did not believe in Gods before, but after meeting Gavin, Issei, Lily, and David, his gaze changed completely.

Waves of raging wolves charged into the fifty-one goats with red eyes. They have traveled for miles in search of food. Although they had caught some prey along the way, it was not enough to feed thousands of them.

The goat in front of them looks very plump, especially the goat with red horns on its head.

Like crazy wild beasts, they lunged at the herd of goats with vigor.

“Meeeeeeee!” Ella gave a signal and the goats under her command charged forward.

The collision of teeth, horns, and claws, marked the beginning of the battle between the hunter and his prey. Blood gushed into the air as wolves and goats started slaughtering each other.

In that initial clash, ten goats died in battle. While sixty Dire Wolves were stabbed to death.

< Exp Received: 18,000 >

William looked at the notice and felt a sense of bitterness. If this was an ordinary situation, she might dance in happiness because of the great experience points she gained. However, watching the goat he personally nurtured, and cared for, die in front of him, in exchange for experience points made his heart ache.

Her tears fell like raindrops, but it could not compare to the river of blood that was currently dying on the red ground. He had prepared himself for the sacrifice, but his heart was still bleeding at the reality that had appeared before his eyes.

“Meeeeh!” Ella attacked with full force as it knocked down the Dire Wolf that would cast its fangs onto one of its subordinates. Only two minutes had passed since the battle began and there were only eighteen goats left in their formation.

Ella led another goat in a mad attack that cut the wolf wholeheartedly. Their target was a three-meter-tall Grey Wolf standing in the middle of the herd.

The Alpha wolf snarls and gathers the Wolf's guard to clash with the approaching goat. The clash was brutal as five more goats lost their lives in exchange for the death of Alpha Wolves.

This is the third Alpha Wolf Ella killed. Each Alpha wolf commanded forty to fifty Dire Wolves each. In order to break their chain of command, Ella decided to make these wolves her priority.

His white hair was covered with blood. William doesn't know if the blood came from the wolf or Ella's body. All he knew was that his mother had now fallen into a state of rampage.

It might be due to the smell of blood in the air, or the death of his subordinates, but the Shepherd Leader was now drained of blood.

Even the Dire Wolves who initially thought they had found prey avoided it like a plague. After losing the Alpha Wolves, the wolf formation fell apart. They no longer wanted to fight the crazy goats and their minions.

Instead, they chased the fleeing sheep in the distance. It was at that moment that Ella recovered from the condition, Conscious and instantly rampaged.

Ella bleated and the remaining thirteen goats gathered by her side. Their feet trembled in exhaustion, but the spirit flames in their eyes were still burning. William knew that if Ella gave them orders, these goats would attack without fear of their lives and carry out their orders.

Fortunately, Ella did not do that. After experiencing the battle in the Goblin Crypt, his intelligence had grown tremendously. Although Ella was currently not as smart as a human, she was not too far away.

"Thank you, God." William breathed a sigh of relief. He did not want Ella to fight Dire Wolf to death.

The boy looked towards the wolves that were now eyeing the sheep and tried to count the numbers. According to his estimation, the wolf was still around four hundred.

The only grace that saved them had left Ella and the other goats alone. They consider weak-willed sheep a safer target. Ella wanted to chase after them, but she prioritized the members of her flock.

He had sacrificed many of his family members to hold the terrible wolf for a few minutes. As the leader of the herd, he assumed his subordinates had reached their limits and were no longer able to fight.

Since that was the case, he simply ordered them to be vigilant and maintain their positions. Hundreds of wolf corpses littered the battlefield as Ella and the remaining goats stood tall. As part of William's herd, they also learned the skills of Steel Armament, Quick Attack, and Horn Attack.

Because of this skill, they are able to defeat their enemies and destroy them under their fingernails.

163,240 experience points.

This was the amount of experience points Ella and her subordinates had gained during the fifteen minute battle against Dire Wolf. All the goats in Ella's entourage are now level 18. In short, they were no longer the meek and naive goats that used to graze lazily on the prairie.

One of them was more than enough to defeat three Wolves in a three-on-one battle!

The helpless screams of the slain sheep reached William's ears. Unlike his goats that received buffs and skills, the sheep were truly pets. In the presence of the Hundred Monstrous Wolves, the only thing they could do was to cry in panic and be eaten alive.

More than two hundred sheep fell prey to the wolf wave, while the remaining animals scattered in different directions.

Amidst the frenzy as the wolves ate, William saw four familiar figures running towards the wolf pack from the direction of the city.

'Isn't that Mr Shawn?' thought William. 'What is he doing here?'

A man holding a roll in his hand, fearlessly ran towards the wolf pack. He was a baker in Lont, and was known as Shawn. William usually visited his shop once a week to buy a piece of bread before going to the valley.

Shawn is a very nice and warm person. Just like everyone in Lont, she had a carefree personality and was always smiling.

However, at this moment, the city baker did not smile. The rolling pin in his hand enlarged and turned into a two-meter-long silver rolling pin.

With a roar of fury, Shawn lunged at the feasting wolves and swung the death rollers with a wide swing. The head of the wolf that was in its path of attack exploded like a watermelon.

'Shit!' William almost strongly condemned the brutality of the baker. The four others behind the baker also held their weapons and joined him in his slaughter.

Helen, often referred to as Aunt Helen by William, was a maid of their Ainsworth Family. Some of his clothes were sewn by him and all of them were of good quality.

Now, the same Aunt who had wiped William's ass many times when he was a baby, was currently beheading the wolf to the left and to the right just by waving her hand.

William could vaguely see a golden thread connected to Aunt Helen's finger slicing through the air like a flexible sword.

"Bajing*dirty," spouted Helen. "If my little William gets hurt by you, I swear I will hunt down all the wolves in this kingdom!"

'Auntie, don't worry, I'm still alive!' Inevitably William felt warm for Aunt Helen's concern for him. Seeing Aunt Helen's elegance on the battlefield, she generously gave a thumbs up to her aunt.

Wherever Helen went, all the wolves would be dismembered.

The other two people who were also involved in the wolf pack were the Barber and the Lont Town Dentist.

The town barber, Mr. Bond has the most unique hairstyle in Lont. William often wondered if the barber was born with Afro-style natural hair. There are rumors in the city that she chose this hairstyle because she was too lazy to cut her own hair.

"Snippy, snip-snap," said Mr. Bond as he threw six scissors into the air that pierced the head of the wolf charging towards him. “Name Bond. Mr Bond.”

A man wearing a white shirt, and black pants ran towards the wolf with a refreshing smile. He is the only Lont Town dentist and goes by the name Jekyll.

William, and the other children in Lont, have chosen him as the scariest man in town. Wh why? Because he's a dentist!

Is there a child who is not afraid of the dentist? The answer is no longer wrong! Every kid in Lont is scared of him. Just seeing him walk around the city was enough to make anyone under the age of fifteen yell in fear.

Although he was handsome, courteous looking, and always had a dazzling smile on his face, no little boy in Lont would return his smile.

Jekyll stopped in the middle of a pack of wolves and placed his hands behind his back.

“Thank you for the food.”

He then gave the wolf a refreshing smile before opening his mouth wide.

The next scene gave William goosebumps.

All the wolves that were at least twenty meters around Jekyll were sucked into his mouth! Seconds later, the dentist pulled out a loud burp that made Dire Wolves goofy.

"Excuse me," Jekyll said with a smile. "Don't worry. I still have room for dessert.”
