Chapter 73: Misconception

Surprisingly, James did not bring William and his guests into the living room. Instead, he guided them to the garden that was outside the residence.

Large tables laid out with delicious dishes have been placed throughout the park. William saw familiar faces - Rebecca, Agatha, and Eleanor. There were also some children of her age who were wandering around Rebecca's desk.

They were all wearing the same light blue clothes as the snowflake emblem embedded in his chest.

'I think they are the children of the Misty Sect and Rebecca's fellow disciples, ' William thought.

Among the children sitting near his "First Fiancee", there was a boy who stood out. She has blonde hair, gray eyes, and a face that will make all the girls scream “Kyaah! Kyaa!” when they see it. He practically flowed with 'I'm a pretty boy'.

William is more handsome than him. Even Rebecca's fellow female disciples looked at William with interest.

William ignored the gazes of the little loli and focused his attention on the blonde sitting next to his Ex Fiance.

'This person is probably a 'reliable senior brother' who is all too common in cultivation stories, ' William stared intently at the first man he met in his life. 'According to the script in the novel, she would challenge me to officially break our marriage agreement. That way, he would be able to score a few points with Rebecca's mother and master.'

William felt annoyed in his heart. If he had not lost his magic power for a while, he would have easily wiped the floor with the handsome boy's face. Unfortunately, he was now at his weakest point and could not use his ace.

James took William and his guests to another table that was also laid out with delicious dishes. The envoys had arrived at the residence earlier to announce William's arrival. Therefore, the servants hurriedly added another table to the garden and prepared food for their Young Master's arrival.

“So, your name is Est?” James asked. "You have good eyes."

"Thank you?" Est answered confusedly.

He did not know why James said that "he has good eyes", but he knew that William's grandfather did not say it casually. Of course, he did not understand what the old man hinted at.

"Let's talk more later." James smiled. “I was very interested in William's friends during his trip to the Holy Temple.”

Est smiled and nodded his head. He was also curious to know more about William's grandfather.

As soon as William and his guest sat in the chair reserved for them, the drama finally began.

"Old James, since your grandson is here, it's time to get straight to business" Lawrence said with a smile on his face. He then confronts William and tells him the reason for his visit.

“Young man, I want to apologize for my daughter-in-law's actions. He should not make it difficult for you and force you to break the marriage agreement your grandfather and I have agreed to, ” Lawrence said. "The reason why I'm here now is to mediate and correct this misunderstanding."

"Dad!" shout Agatha. “That boy is not worthy of your grandson! He's just a dirty goat herder!

Est frowned when she heard the Duchess's rude remark. Even Ian, who was always at odds with William, had the same reaction as Est. For some reason, he dislikes it when others insult William.

“Mr Griffith, I also believe that my disciple deserves someone better,” Eleanor said from the side. “Rebecca is a genius. She just deserves the best that also applies to her future husband.”

Surprisingly, James did not say anything and just sipped his tea quietly. If this was in the past, he would have already made a fuss to defend his grandson's honor. He believed that his grandson would have no trouble getting many beautiful wives even without his help.

Since that was the case, why would he bother with this small marriage agreement?

Lawrence listened to Agatha and Eleanor's words with a calm expression. He did not rebuke them and let them say their thoughts out loud. He observed James and William's expressions to understand their thoughts on the matter.

Seeing the two not reacting to the "subtle humiliation" thrown by the two women, Lawrence felt something was amiss. He then decided to test the water and ask the red-haired boy a question.

“They said that you are not worthy of my grandson. How do you feel about that?” ask Lawrence.

William grinned as he answered Lawrence's question. “Mr Lawrence, do you think someone as handsome as me would be hard to find a beautiful wife as my companion?”

William nodded his head like a scholar. “I don't want to brag, but other than my Grandfather, no one in the Southern Continent is more handsome than me. Since that's the case, why would I limit myself to marrying your granddaughter? Don't you think this is unfair to my good looks?”

“Bravo!” James clapped his hands. “As expected of my grandson.”

The faces of Eleanor and Agatha were wrinkled. They had already experienced how shameless William was, but it seemed like he had become even more arrogant since the last time they met.

"So, are you saying that my granddaughter is not good enough?" ask Lawrence. His voice was filled with amusement.

"You must ask him that question" replied William. “Is he good enough for me? Personally, I think not.”

Rebecca, who was quietly listening from the side, raised her eyebrows at William's words. “What makes you think you're better than me? If not for grandpa's insistence, I wouldn't even bother coming here.”

At first, he planned to avoid this mess, but William's words annoyed him. He was a genius born once every two hundred years. Although she was not interested in William, this was the first time someone had told her that she was not good enough at something.

“Then why don't you go?” William casually waved his hand as if to repel the pest. “So what if you're a genius? Even geniuses need to defecate, or are you going to tell me you're not having a bowel movement at all?”

Everyone who was eating at the time glared at William. Even James who was drinking his tea spat it on the ground

"A rant like that!"

"Do you have no disgust!"

"As expected of a village hick, it's really lacking manners!"

The Misty Sect disciples berate William, but the red-haired boy does not care about them. In his eyes, the sooner these pests go, the better.

Rebecca's face turned red. There was no way he could answer William's question. Are there people who do not need to defecate? If anything, could they still be considered human?

Lawrence frowned. From what he could see, William was completely uninterested in his grandson. A part of him wanted to hit the boy, while another part of him looked at the boy with a new look.

'Old James didn't react either, ' Lawrence thought. 'Are they hiding something from me?'

The one who made the fools was James. Lawrence knew his personality so it was impossible for James to deny something he had started. Naturally, this commotion happened because her daughter-in-law took advantage of the opportunity when she left to cancel the marriage agreement.

Even so, he did not believe that James would just sit idly by and let someone trample on the deal that had been made because of his proposal.

Est who was looking from the side secretly felt pleased. He did not understand why he was feeling happy, but he felt dizzy looking at William's arrogant appearance.

“You, Dirty Shepherd. How dare you tarnish the honor of my junior disciple ?! ” The handsome blonde stood up from her seat. “I'll only ask you one question. Will you release Rebecca from the marriage agreement or not?”

“Hah? Is your mind gone?” William asked in disdain. “Don't I already explain that I'm not interested in him? If you like it, you can have it. I can tell from a glance that you two are a match for each other.”

"Thank you?" ask the blonde. "Do you really think that we fit in?"

The blonde looked at Rebecca while waiting for William to answer.

"Of course." William nodded his head. "A togetherness made in heaven. May you two live happily together.”

“Hmp! At least you know your place.” The blonde accepted William's words as if it was the most natural thing to do. He then sat in a good mood.

Ever since she first saw Rebecca, she had already decided that she would be her lover. Not only was she beautiful, she was also the daughter of a Duke. With beauty, wealth, and influence by her side, she is the ideal candidate to be his wife and raise his rank within his family.
