"I-This!" Cedric stuttered as he stared at the thousands of Dire Wolves that had piled up outside of Lont city. “B-How can Lont survive Beast Tide?”
Leah, who was sitting next to her brother, looked at this scene with an expression of disbelief. His eyes widened in shock as he looked at the corpses of Centennial and Millennial Beasts who were only a stone's throw from the entrance of the city.
"Will, who defeated the Thousand Men Beast?" ask Lea.
William patted his chest and gave Leah a dazzling smile. "The one who killed him was me."
Leah and Cedric: …
William chuckled as he looked at the two who had a question, "Are you playing around with us?" look in their faces.
"Are you really the one who killed him?" ask Cedric. Clearly, he did not believe that William was the one who managed to kill him. “Do you know what it is? It was a Millennial Beast. This is a one-man army moving. How could a little boy like you kill him?”
"I know it's hard to believe, but it's true" William replied. "If you doubt me, you can ask the adults in the village."
"How did you kill him?" Lea asked. He had known William for several years. Although William likes to brag, Leah knows that the boy is someone who does not like to lie.
Cedric glanced at his sister before turning his gaze to William. The brothers were very curious how William managed to do the impossible.
“Well, Grandpa and the others have greatly weakened him. I was the one who delivered the final blow, ” explained William. In the end, he decided to shrink the battle against the Millennial Beast. This way, Cedric and Leah would be able to accept his explanation.
"I understand." Cedric nodded in understanding. His father, Sebas, often said that James was a very strong man. As for how strong he was, Cedric had no idea. Even so, he easily accepted this explanation.
Leah looked at William with a judging look. Although William says that he only dealt the final blow to the monster, Leah feels there is a deeper meaning to the story.
William casually flipped his hair as he gave Leah a confident smile. “Sister, I know I'm handsome. However, if you keep looking at me like that, even someone with thick skin like me will feel embarrassed.”
“It looks like your narcissistic nature has gotten worse since the last time I saw you.” Leah gave William a sweet smile.
“Thank you for your praise.”
"I don't praise you."
The two children fought for a while as they walked towards the Ainsworth residence. Cedric, on the other hand, shook his head helplessly. He put aside William's matter of killing the Thousand Beasts and prepared himself to meet with Lont's supervisors.
The other survivors were led by Helen to the City Hall which would serve as their temporary residence. The bed and other necessities are already prepared including food and water. For clothes, the residents of Lont city have donated their used clothes to wear.
Although still feeling sad for what happened to Fushia, the survivors were touched by Lont's hospitality.
After making sure that their men were well taken care of, Cedric and Leah followed William to the Ainsworth residence.
When they arrived at the estate, they saw three people waiting for them at the entrance. James, Mordred, and Anna were there to greet their guests.
“Cedric, Leah, welcome to Lont,” James greets the two children with a smile. “I'm so sorry for what happened to Sebas and Fushia.”
“Lord Ainsworth, thank you for receiving us,” replied Leah with a smile. "I hope that we won't be an inconvenience to you and your family."
"Omong empty." James patted Leah on the head. “In my eyes, you and Cedric are my niece and nephew. You two are family. Call me Grandpa like you always do. Lord Ainsworth is too stiff for my liking.”
"That's better."
"Thank you, Uncle," Cedric said with a smile. “I hope we both can speak correctly about the situation in Fushia.”
Leah sighed as she looked at her brother with a reprimand. Sometimes, she hated her brother's stubborn and straightforward attitude.
"Grandfather, please forgive my brother for being too forthright." Leah lowered her head apologizing. "He didn't mean anything bad."
James glanced at Cedric and nodded his head. He did not mind Cedric's attitude. He had watched the boy grow into a young man. Although Cedric may not be as smart as his younger sister, Leah, he is someone who has an honest character.
James doesn't like people like this. It was easier to deal with them than the old planners in the royal capital.
"It's okay." James patted Cedric and Leah on the shoulder. “The three of us will have a proper conversation tomorrow. For now, let's have dinner early so you two can rest.”
The brothers thanked James and followed him into the house. Anna immediately dragged Leah away, so that the young girl could take a bath. His face and clothes were covered in dust and it made Anna's heart ache.
Cedric was also taken by Mordred to their guest room so that he could also wash the dirt off his body.
As the two guests leave, James asks William to tell him the things he saw in Fushia.
"Everything is destroyed." William sighed. “It was as if a storm passed through Fushia and destroyed everything that stood in its way. Even houses made of bricks did not escape the rampage of Beast Tide.”
James nodded. He had anticipated this outcome. His plan to rebuild Fushia and Xynnar was a big job, and he needed to lay the right foundation to make it happen.
"William, there's also something I need to tell you."
“Ya, Grandpa?”
"Right now we have guests" James said as he rubbed his grandson's head with his hands. “The best thing is to choose the right place and time when you activate Ring of Conquest.”
William's body stiffened upon hearing his Grandfather's words. He raised his head and looked at his grandfather's amused face. The old man put a grin "I know what you did Last Summer" on his face.
It wasn't difficult for William to connect the dots. Since the ring belonged to his father, it was only natural that his grandfather would know his secret.
The boy coughed lightly and nodded his head in understanding. He was about to go to the goat pen when James gave him another reminder.
"Safety should always be your priority" James advises. “Beware of your environment and retreat when necessary. Life is precious. Do you understand, Will?”
"Yes, Grandpa" replied William. He looked at the old man with a serious expression. "I'll be careful."
"good. Don't go dying on me anytime soon. I still hope to hold my great-grandson in a few years.”
“A-ayo we cross that bridge when we get there, Grandpa.”
Although William likes to be narcissistic with his looks, he still has a realistic approach when it comes to relationships. Like all healthy young men, he is very interested in the opposite sex.
Unfortunately, William has no experience in romance other than a few short hours with Belle. He hoped that in this world, he would be able to find a girl who would make his heart pound in his chest.
