Re:Incarnation System
Chapter 83: The Owner of the Ring of Conquest (Bagia 1)

“Grandfather, I want to be stronger,” William said with a serious expression. "Please help me."

William had thought long and hard and finally took the decision to enlist James' help to build his foundation in Martial Combat. He believed that with the help of his passive skill, he would be able to fill the gap left when he lost his magic power.

___

"You want to be stronger?" James asked. "Being stronger is always good, but what is your goal of wanting to be stronger?"

"The goal is to become stronger?"William's Mumbles.

“Everyone has a reason to be strong. Imagine yourself as the sharpest sword. Sure, you're sharp and powerful, but if there's no reason for its users for what it's all about. You are just a sword. A useless weapon is nothing compared to the kitchen knife used to cook food, But if you have a wise Reason and the right purpose to use that power for what it will be, it will be different from anything else.”

William was astonished by his grandfather's explanation. He had long thought of his Grandfather as a battle junkie. A man with muscles, but no brains. For James to utter such scientific words made the red-haired boy realize that he still did not know the true character of his cheerful grandfather.

'Destination? What is my goal to become stronger?' William's confused. He did not think that far when he decided to ask his Grandfather for help. He thought that the reason people looked for strength was only to become stronger. The boy did not think of the reason behind their desire to gain power.

James nodded in satisfaction when he saw William's reaction. He had seen many young men who wanted to become stronger, but they had no purpose in life. Purposeless, these youths were then misled by others who used their strength for their own comfort.

James didn't want his grandson to be someone else's chess piece. He wants William to take control of his own destiny and trudge along the path that allows him to achieve his own life goals.

"Come back to me when you've found your answer" James patted William on the shoulder. “When you finally find your purpose, I promise that I will do everything in my power to help you get the power you are looking for. Until then, think carefully.”

William nodded his head and left his Grandfather's room aimlessly. Soon, he found himself on a hill overlooking Lont.

When he leaves his hometown to go to the temple, he meets Est, Ian, Isaac, Herman, and Nana. They reminded him that Lont city was just a tiny speck of dust in the Southern Continent. Out there, in the vast world of Hestia, many other kingdoms could be found.

It made William feel so small. It was as if he was just an insignificant boy in a world filled with billions of people. Like a grain of sand found on a beach, and a star in a starry sky. What could a child like him achieve, in a vast world filled with geniuses and experts who looked down on the mortal realm like a God?

____

It was at that moment that William's gaze landed on the ring on his finger.

"Ring of Conquest" William murmured at the ring that started it all. If not for this ring, William would not have entered the Goblin Crypt and opened the Shepherd Job Class. He may have lived his life differently compared to the life he lived until now.

Suddenly he woke up. The ring belonged to his father. Since his father died, his mother had no choice but to send him away from the Silvermoon Continent to protect him.

Who does he want to protect? what happened behind his father's death? Why should she be separated from her Beloved Mother?

William had thought about these questions before when he was young. However, he had ruled it out by the excuse of "I'll find the answer when I get older". He didn't think much of it, but now that he thought about what he really wanted to do in his life, his focus had locked onto the mystery that had plagued this childhood.

The red-haired boy hurriedly left the hill and returned to the residence. His goal is to ask his Grandfather, James, to tell him about events that have happened in the past. He wanted to know the truth about his true identity and the identity of his parents.

He went straight to his grandfather's room, but it was empty.

"Young Master, are you looking for your grandfather?" Helen asked as she walked behind her, carrying a broom.

"Auntie, do you know where Grandpa is?" ask William.

"Master went to Owen's house to talk about some things" Helen replied.

"Thank you, Helen!" William hugged Helen quickly before heading for Owen's house.

Ella and the other William herds are currently in the valley with goats and sheep in another Lont town. It had been a long time since the goats had returned to their grazing area and William decided to allow them to go to the valley to eat the fresh grass that had thrived since the time of the Beast Tide.

As Helen tells him, James is indeed inside Owen's house. The two old men shared a bottle of red wine that Owen had kept in his wine cellar for many years. William felt a bit awkward as he sat between two men who were drinking red wine and chewing sheep sausages.

“Have you found your goal to become stronger?” James asked. “You can talk freely. Owen is someone who knows how to keep secrets. Also, the goal I came here was to convince these old troublemakers to help with your training. ”

"Who do you call an old troublemaker?" snapped Owen. “You came here to drink my wine, and eat my sausage, and you dare call me an old troublemaker? Do you want me to hit you?”

James laughed awkwardly as he returned his attention to his grandson.

______

William gave Owen a quick glance before clearing his throat. “Grandfather, I want to know the truth happened about me and my parents.”

The atmosphere that was living in the room immediately turned cold as James and Owen looked at William with serious expressions.

“Should I go?” ask Owen. "I think it's better if the two of you talk in private."

"Sorry for the matter," James replied with an apologetic look.

"It's okay." Owen stood up and patted William on the shoulder before leaving the room. He made sure to lock the door behind him properly and put up a soundproof barrier to ensure that his wife would not overhear their conversation.

The pair of grandfathers and grandchildren stared at each other for a few minutes before James sighed and broke the silence.

"I was planning to tell you this when you were a little older, but I think now is also a good time for that" James said as he emptied the wine in his glass. "Do you want a long version or a short version?"

"Please short version" replied William.

James nodded his head. “Your father, Maxwell, is a great man. Before you were born, he was praised as the most powerful person in the Southern Continent. He rose up like fireworks and lit up brightly like a comet.”

James sighed as he recalled William's father. “Your father is an Underground Conqueror. He had the ability to combine the core of the dungeon with his body. Once he had conquered the dungeon, he could summon the monster he 'owned' in that dungeon. Basically, he was a one-man army that had thousands of monsters under his command. Isn't that cool?”

"It's very OP ..." William gulped.

“OP?” muttered James.

“That means Very Strong, Grandpa.”

"Yes. Your father is OP.” James chuckled and nodded his head. “Maybe because of how strong the profession is, the Gods themselves limit it. There was only one Underground Conqueror in each generation. As long as that person was alive, no one else could obtain this extremely rare profession.”

William imagines himself sitting on a dragon's head as legions of monsters conquer the land under his command. The scene was akin to a huge battle in a fantasy film he had watched on Earth. William was half tempted to ask the system about the requirements needed to obtain the Underground Conqueror Job Class.

James had no idea what William was thinking as he continued his story. “Your father is indeed very strong, but he has one weakness and that is, He is very weak against beautiful women. Back then, the elves lost the battle against the Demon King who was eager to conquer the Silvermoon Continent.

Desperate, they devise a plan to turn things around. The plan was to use the 'Honey Trap' to lure your father to the Silvermoon Continent.”

James gave William a teasing grin as his eyes sparkled with delight. "Guess who the woman they used to trap your father with honey?"

"Of course it was none other than the most beautiful woman in the Silvermoon Continent," William raised his chin in an arrogant manner. "My mother."

“You were right, and the Elf Council regretted their decision to this day.” James' laughter boomed inside the room as if mocking the long-eared rascals who thought that they could defeat his son with their schemes.
