Chapter 87: In the Silence of the Forest (Part 2) ENd

When William opened his eyes, he found himself in the same place where he had lost consciousness. The only difference was that there was a leather sack bag a meter away from his face.

The boy carefully moved his aching body as he forced himself into a sitting position. When he opened the leather sack, he found a water thermos, jerky, and a small bottle of recovery potion.

William devoured the jerky wholeheartedly. He was starving and he was eating jerky as if it was the most delicious thing in the world. When he finished eating, he drank half the water from the flask.

The boy allowed himself to relax for a few minutes before drinking the recovery potion to ease the pain in his body.

'I'd better find a place to spend the night,' William thought as he scanned his surroundings. It was not difficult to find a place to rest, but the boy was worried that his "unknown enemy" would attack him at night.

The red-haired boy shuddered at that possibility. William is not stupid. When he saw the leather sack, he knew that the person who attacked him was the one responsible for the later stages of his training.

'If it was me from two months ago, I probably wouldn't have lasted ten minutes, ' William mused as he looked for a good place to spend the night. He finally understood how important stamina was during the friction fight.

'The training of old man Owen was to raise my stamina, ' William mused. 'Then what is the purpose of this training?'

William thought long and hard, but the only reason he could think of was because he was being trained to improve his senses in order to be able to react to dangerous situations.

William had just taken ten steps from where he was lying when something hit his head and made him lose consciousness once again.

A man dressed in guard clothes came out of the darkness and took the leather sack that William dropped. He glanced at the unconscious boy before walking away with an indifferent expression.

___

'hishhh' William cursed inwardly.

It was the second day since he entered the forest and the situation had not improved. In fact, it gets worse. He had just finished drinking water after waking up and a barely audible hiss pierced through the silence of the Lonely Forest.

Several arrows flew from different directions and all of them were aimed at him! William activated his movement speed and dodged to the left, right, and center, but the arrows continued to chase after him. This time, the arrows were actually hunting him like a guided missile.

No matter how he dodged, they kept coming back!

'Damn it!' William cursed for the umpteenth time as he summoned his staff to help fend off the arrows.

His Parry Skill activated and deflected some of them, but he was pushed back every time he did. The arrow turned out to be very sturdy and seemed to be made of extremely hard metal. If he had not gripped his wand tightly, it might have already slipped out of his grasp.

The next day happens and only subsides when the sun is at its peak. William almost fainted from exhaustion due to lack of food and water. Looks like the cat left the mouse to feed it and drink.

William gritted his teeth as he climbed a tree to pluck some fruit from its branch.

'If Second Master sees me now, he might start calling me a monkey,' William thought as he took some fruit to make his lunch.'

___

Somewhere in Celine's house…

Oliver sneezed while sitting on his perch.

"That little monkey William must be thinking of me" Oliver murmured. "I hope he suffers now."

The Monkey Parrot closed his eyes and went back to taking a nap. Celine had been told by Owen that William was undergoing intense survival training in the Silent Forest. Oliver is tempted enough to have fun, but Celine forbids it.

He could only obey the orders of the Madam while praying that William's suffering would increase every day.

_____

A month passed, and a tattered wild boy, who was covered in the ground from head to toe, was, jump over tree branches to escape the hunters who have been bothering him all along.

In addition to constant distraction, William also suffers from constant ringing sounds in his ears. These voices often haunt him as a deafening silence descends after his assailant stops his attack.

Previously, he had thought that Owen's training was very harsh, but it could not compare to what he was currently experiencing. In addition to eating twice a day, and being forced to faint at night, his day revolved around trying to escape anyone who bullied him.

There were even days when he just wanted to stop and allow himself to be hit by an arrow, but that didn't help him either. The blunt arrow was coated by an extremely powerful medicine that caused excruciating pain. The pain was so intense that he felt like he was dying.

After experiencing it once, William did not allow himself to be exposed even once and only focused on escaping.

Another whistling sound reached his ears, but this time, William did not panic. He stepped to the side and let the arrow pass harmlessly in front of him. More arrows flew towards him, but William calmly handled them all. What he could avoid, he avoided. What he couldn't do, he fended it off with his wooden stick.

Within a month in that hellish place, William's sense perception had reached a high level. His Sixth Indra, which warned him of danger, had also risen to an incredible degree. Sometimes, his hidden assailants would shoot arrows that made no sound.

It was then that William's Sixth Sense would enter and tell him that a hidden danger was approaching.

As the sun was about to set, William managed to fend off the silent arrow aimed at his head. After that, no more arrows flew towards him. Instead there was a loud thud on the ground three meters away from him.

The steel arrow stuck on the ground was a real arrow and not a blunt arrow. On its axis, a piece of paper was tied. William did not directly pick up the arrow, instead, he let his senses scan the surroundings to make sure that this was not another trick of his hidden enemy.

After making sure there was no danger around him, William picked up the arrow and took out the written letter. After reading the contents, William sighed and sat beside the tree to rest.

Immediately, a loud snoring sound resounded within the forest. William slept soundly without a care for the world.

A thousand meters from the location of the sleeping boy, a man was standing on a tree branch. He was none other than Trent, the Guardian of Lont city.

He was in charge of William's Perception Training.

The Silent Forest was not a simple forest. It was the most appropriate place to train one's perception. People think that absolute silence has no voice, but they are grossly wrong in their assumptions.

When you're in a place that's completely out of sound, you experience a deafening silence. Your ears will start to hurt because you will experience "The Ghost Voice". Ringing sounds that will not disappear and will haunt every second you are awake.

In William's previous world, these sounds were associated with tinnitus.

Just like William's stamina training, Perception Training also trained one's willpower.

Trent left because his mission was complete. It was now time for William to begin his Martial Arts Training under one of the experts present in the other Lont city.

____

Dwayne, a drunken executioner, sips his alcohol from a small wooden bowl. He had seen Trent's arrow rise above the canopy of the Lonely Forest and knew that William's basic training had ended.

The monk sighed in satisfaction after emptying the wooden bowl filled with alcohol.

“So, it's finally my turn,” said Dwayne with a cynical smile. “It's been a long time since I taught someone Martial Arts. I wish the Commander's grandson better than the last student I taught. ”

Dwayne can still remember the so-called geniuses raised by the monks of his order.

In just one session, the boy had been paralyzed and all the older monks were about to go crazy from anger. Therefore, Dwayne was excommunicated from the temple and was not allowed to step into the Holy Land anymore.

Dwayne was not angry with the treatment he received. He even felt liberated because he was sick and tired of being a good person. He roams the ground doing whatever he likes. Sometimes he would annihilate the bandit groups along the way, sometimes he would become a bandit and terrorize innocent souls unlucky enough to pass his way.

That's how he got the nickname, "Drunken Executioner" because he was always seen carrying jugs of alcohol with him when he committed this heinous act.

He only stopped his rampage because he met James who was guarding the group of merchants he chose to attack.

With just one slap from the old man, Dwayne and his short-lived tyrant came to a complete stop. James was supposed to take her back to the authorities, but changed his mind halfway through.

Since then, Dwayne has been James' loyal subordinate and followed him like a tail. He was someone who respected the strong, and James was by far the strongest person he had ever met in his life.

“Well, since you are the grandson of the Commander, I don't think you will die easily,” muttered Dwayne as he stared at the bowl of alcohol in his hands.

The monk's eyes narrowed as he stared at the Silent Forest in the distance. He always wondered what it was like to have a student. Dwayne knew that William was already a student of Celine, so he had given up accepting her as his own.

However, he still wanted to give his knowledge to his Command granddaughter. He had a feeling that William would achieve something great in the future, and he wanted to be a part of that future.
