Re:Incarnation System
Chapter 68: 4 Protective Gods

With a powerful roar, the battle officially began. Terrorhand is a very tough opponent. None of the children's attacks inflicted any damage to his body.

Even Est's sword, Rhapsody, could at most open a shallow wound that would regenerate in an instant.

"Est! Jump back!" William commanded.

Este did not think twice and obeyed William's orders. A black whip made of black magic wrapped around his waist. With a pull of William's hand, Est is pulled away from his location just in time to avoid the red glow of light coming out of the Cyclops' eyes.

“We can't keep going like this,” William said as Est landed beside him. "We have to finish him off in one strike."

"But how?" Est asked. Suddenly, a consciousness surprised him. “Do not tell me..”.

"Yes." Yeah." William raised his head and looked at the only Cyclops eyes that looked at them with disdain. “We need to attack his eyes.”

Saying it is one thing, but actually doing the deed is another. Cyclops loomed over them. Fighting him from close range was also very risky as he specialized in close combat. If not for their rapid mobility, and William who played a supporting role, they would all have died by now.

The ground shook as the Cyclops used his hammer to destroy Isaac and Ian who were bothering him with their long-range magic attacks.

Earth Magic Isaac and Water Magic Ian worked hand in hand to fire projectiles into the eyes of the Cyclops. These attacks did not inflict any damage to the eyes themselves, but it disturbed the giant to the point that he focused his attacks on them.

Ian leaps into the air and William's black whip pulls him out of the range of the Cyclops' attack. They use hit-and-run tactics against cyclops because it is very dangerous to fight them head-on.

William looked at the notice with a grim expression. He buys enough time for Ella and her herd to kill Gasmirage so they can help deal with the cyclops.

'Two more small animals left,' William thought as he glanced at the pitiful Gasmirage who was currently being ganged up by Ella and the goat. "At most it'll be done in two minutes."

Two minutes might seem like a short time, but when fighting against a Thousand Year Beast, every second counted. William also knew that even if Ella and the other goats completed their mission, the help they could provide to fight the Cyclops was very limited.

Other than Ella, the other Anggorian goats could do nothing. William was not stupid enough to order them against the Millennial Beast. It was like throwing an egg on a big rock.

He had already fired over a dozen into the Cyclops, but it remained indifferent to his dark magic. It seemed that the Cyclops race was immune to all kinds of magic that crippled their eyesight.

A furious roar echoed across the plains as the Cyclops raged. He swung the hammer and threw it at the location of William and Est.

"Levitation," said William while holding Est's waist. He then flew into the sky to dodge the incoming attacks. Although the attack missed, a powerful shockwave pushed the two children away as a cloud of dust appeared in the area where the giant hammer fell.

"It's really hopeless" Est sighed as William and he landed on the ground. "We won't be able to kill him."

"Of course we can't kill him" William said with annoyance. “But, we can beat him. Do not forget that the power of the sword depends on your beliefs. If your confidence wavers then its strength will also be affected.”

"I know!" Est said with clenched teeth. He knows, but what is it? No matter how much he tried to maintain his belief, he felt that he was an ant facing off against an elephant. For him to be able to remain standing was already a feat in itself, but the more he fought against the Cyclops, the more he realized that this ordeal was impossible to complete.

"This experiment is called the Test of Courage" William reminded him. He knows that Est is getting frustrated and it is useless if he loses his heart at this critical moment. “That means this trial will measure our courage. Perhaps, killing Cyclops was not the purpose of this experiment.”

“Then what is the purpose of this experiment?”

“This is just a hunch, but I think the goal is to have the determination and courage to face an opponent who is impossible to beat.”

William had come across a similar scenario like this in the game. There are bosses and characters who are "invincible" and you have to fight them to continue the storyline. When the protagonist is about to be defeated, something will happen that will make the "invincible boss" escape or end the battle immediately.

'We just need to figure out what the requirements are to trigger that event,' William thought as he racked his brain to look for any clues to give the scales in their favor.

“Courage and determination to face an opponent you cannot defeat,” murmured Est. “Maybe you are right. Maybe we just need to keep fighting and show our determination and courage?”

"Yes" replied William. 'Gavin gave me this experiment so there must be a way to solve it. He couldn't possibly give me an experiment that couldn't possibly be completed in the first place, right? ”

"Gavin, is there really a way for William to defeat that cyclop?" Issei asked while looking at the projection in front of him. "Isn't this trial too difficult?"

Gavin cleared his throat as he looked at the red-haired boy struggling on the projection. “Actually, this is not the trial I was referring to William. Astrid came to look for me early and asked if my followers could help her devout believer complete the test she prepared for her.”

"So this is all the tomboy did?" Lili pursed her lips. “Because it's his trust man's problem, why should he drag others into it?”

"Because, this is the only way for my believers to complete this mission."

A beautiful woman wearing knight armor appeared out of thin air. His long black hair was tied up by a ponytail and his eyes, which had firm determination, stared at the projections. He knew that Est was about to give up.

It was only the words of the red-haired boy beside him that prevented him from losing all hope.

“My believers are still too young and inexperienced,” Astrid said in a clear and firm tone. “I happen to feel someone with a very strong divinity around him. After an in-depth investigation, I found out that he was one of Gavin.”'s followers

Astrid stopped and looked at Lily and Issei from the side. “I did not expect to know that the boy had not only one, but three gods in his body. This is my first time seeing something like this, I am so curious, why do you two like this one follower of God? I wonder what will happen when the other Gods learn this secret? ”

"It's none of your business!" Lily angrily placed her hand on her waist. “You think you can blackmail us? We do not break any rules!”

"Are you threatening us?" Issei narrowed her eyes. “I doubt that a godly knight like you likes to gossip, but if you really do, I will make sure that all your confidants will be part of my follower's harem. I'm not afraid of you, or any god. Play around with my brother and I'll make sure that all your confidants will become slaves to my naps. ”

Astrid raised an eyebrow, but she did not refute Issei. Among the New Generation Gods, the Harem God was someone who held absolute power. All the people believe in are very influential people in the world they live in.

From the lowest commoners to the highest Kings and Emperors. His strength could not be underestimated and all the Gods were wary of him.

No one wants their devout followers to be mindless slaves who will fall into depravity.

"Calm down" Astrid replied in a stern voice. "I have no intention of saying this to anyone."

Lily snorted and was about to nag the tense tomboy when she saw Gavin shake his head. He had no choice but to keep the answer in his chest and return his attention to the ongoing battle on the plains.

"Well, so how did they accomplish this mission?" David asked while playing his beard. “Is this really just a test of determination and courage? Why don't I see a chance to win? ”

“This trial should not have been completed from the beginning,” I am Astrid.

"Huh?! What did you say?!" Lily glared at the Knight Goddess.

"Frankly, I don't want to honor the promise I made to the Hellan Kingdom." Astrid looked at her obedient follower with a gentle look. “Only Est has vowed to offer me everything in exchange for a chance. When I told him that I would give him a chance if he lived his life as a Virgin forever, he did not even blink his eyes and say Yes.

“I thought he was just kidding, but when I really changed him, and the two girls who served under him became boys, that's when I realized that he was serious. Since that's the case then I should at least give him a chance to win. ”

"But you said that this experiment could not be completed in the first place" Issei said. "Doesn't this mean that you're lying to your Believers?"

“It's true Est won't be able to complete the trial if she's alone,” Astrid replied. “That's why I asked Gavin.” for help

Astrid focused her attention on William who was currently holding Est in the air. A glimmer of hope could be seen in his eyes. “Maybe, someone favored by three Gods.”.

"Four," cut David. "Not three but four."

The corner of Astrid's lips twitched as she looked towards the Shepherd God who was calmly drinking his tea by the side. "You're also involved in this, David?"

"Why not?" David answered. “William is a very interesting boy. He reminds me of when I was born in this world. Since he is as handsome as I am, he can definitely find a way.

“Ah, it reminds me, there is a famous saying on his home planet that says something like. 'If There Is Will, There Is a Way'. Astrid, if Will can really complete this mission, you'll owe him a favor.”

The four gods looked at David with Cynics. Handsome like you? There is no mirror in the place!

“I will consider it,” Astrid replied as she tried her best to keep a calm expression on her face. “But first of all, he has to show me what he can do. I really want to see if a boy favored by the Four Gods can do the impossible.”

Gavin, Issei, Lily, and David see William struggling in projection. Although they liked it, they still could not think of a way for the boy to overcome the obstacles he was facing at the moment.
