Chapter 45: Crocodile Golden Scales And Changing Job Witch

The sound of laughter echoed across the river as the children played tag in the water. They did not realize that a hundred meters below them, countless Dark Scales Crocodiles began to raise their heads to look towards them.

A single individual swamp. His eyes were locked on a young girl floating in the water. His tail swung back and forth behind him, increasing his speed. His huge mouth gaped open and his sharp teeth glittered in the murky depths.

Fifty meters. forty…

His cold-blooded eyes showed no mercy as he went in to kill. It would bite an unsuspecting child as the ice spear was five meters long, piercing through the water and piercing its wide open mouth.

The Dark Scales Crocodile screamed as its body wriggled beneath the surface of the river.

“Everything out of the river! There are monsters hiding in the depths!” shouting William.

If not for the fact that the surface of the river beside the girl had been covered in blood, no one would have believed her. The young girl screamed in fear as she swam towards the land. Some children also retreated in fear as they watched the river water start to churn.

Suddenly, a giant mouth gaping broke the surface of the river. It was a crocodile that was over ten meters long. And his eyes locked on the children with predatory lust.

“Crocodile Dark Scales Centennial!” one of the adults was shocked. "Listen!, Quickly Evacuate the river now!”

The Centennial Beast opened its mouth wide and fired a concentrated water cannonball. The feathers on the back of William's neck stood up as he felt the feeling of impending death befall him.

“Ice wall!”

William created five Icewalls in front of him, creating five layers of protection. He wanted to throw more but there was not enough time to do so. The water ball instantly broke the first two ice walls, and pushed out the third one with ease.

The boy only had enough time to refrain from impact as all five layers collapsed in front of him.

“Meeeeh!”

Ella faced the water ball with her horns and neutralized it upon impact. Even so, the explosion still made him and William fly several meters away.

If the five Ice Walls had not reduced the power of that water ball, Ella might have already been smashed to pieces.

Traces of blood flowed down the corner of William's lips as he slowly stood up from the ground. Ella positioned herself in front of William to protect him from another surprise attack.

It was then that hundreds of Crocodile heads appeared on the surface of the river. The boy and the goat watched in horror as they saw ten Centennial Dark Scaly Crocodiles in the horde of crocodiles.

Theo, who rushed over to check on William's condition, looked at the monsters with fear.

“U-Fortunately, there are no Millennial Beasts among them,” Theo stuttered. "If there were, we'd really be in big trouble."

William's body stiffened when he heard Theo's comment. He wanted to slap his good friend and yelled, "Don't raise the death flag, you fool!"

There were two types of people William hated the most when faced with a life-and-death fight. They are the Crow-Mouthed People (those who raise the Death Flag) and Pig Team Partners.

Right now, William was looking at one of those people.

William even had a chance to almost hit his friend's head for waving the death flag, another presence appearing by itself. A crocodile with a golden head that was at least five meters long poked out from the water.

His blood-red eyes glanced at William and the boy felt his legs weaken.

“For Goddess! Crocodile Golden Scales Millennial Beast!” Barbatos uttered in disbelief.

He had heard the warning bells from the watchtower and knew that an emergency situation had occurred. James, Mordred, and some of the fighters in Lont City had left the city to carry out reconnaissance missions.

Currently, there were only a few Magicians left in Lont City and he was one of them.

“Damn it!” Barbatos ran towards the river while holding a hammer in her hand.

He needed to buy time for the other defenders to arrive and make sure that no child would die in this little battle.

"Theo, run!" William grabbed Theo's robe and dragged him away. "Take the kids back to town."

"What about you?" ask Theo. “Are you going to fight? No chance to win!”

William climbed Ella's back as the two of them charged towards the front line.

"System, I need your help."

< What do you need Sir? >

“For example I upgraded my Ice Mage to Ice Wizard, is it still possible for me to open other Advanced Job Classes like Elemental Lord, Battle Mage, Magic Swordsman, Arcane Ranger, and Cryo Lancer?”

< Yes. You can change the Work Class as often as you like as long as you meet the necessary requirements. >

"Good," William said with a solemn expression. “I want to progress to Ice Wizard. Can you make it happen?”

< Of course. Should I also allocate experience points to the Ice Witch Work Class instead of the Shepherd Work Class? >

"Please do it."

< Good, Sir. >

William sighed heavily as he tried to calm his senses. Advancing to the next job was not part of his plan, but the situation required him. Among all the working classes in his arsenal, only the Shepherd and Ice Mage Working Class had sufficient levels to make a difference.

A Centennial Dark Scaly Crocodile fired a concentrated ball of water towards William. The boy raised his hand and created six layers of Ice Walls to block the attack. Just like last time, the six Ice Walls were destroyed.

However, the attack was completely reduced this time. When William had turned his Working Class into an Ice Witch, his Ice Magic received an increase in its effectiveness.

Blue Mist enveloped Ella and William as she threw the Ice Armor at the two of them. He also bestowed the Ice Armor on Barbatos and ten other adults who noticed the Crocodile on the banks of the River.

"I-there's no hope," Barbatos grimaced as she sent a crocodile flying with her hammer. “This animal has high resistance to physical attacks. We need a witch! ”

“Ice Nail!”

“Glacial Spear!”

“Cold Cone!”

William's attack passes through a battlefield that freezes crocodiles in his path. Although effective, it was only a drop in the bucket. Hundreds of Crocodiles advanced without caring about anything else.

As for the leaders of the Horde, the Centennial and Millennial Beasts were extremely intelligent beings.

Seeing that there was only one mage on the battlefield, they decided to focus all their attention on William, while the low-level Dark Scaly Crocodile attacked Barbatos and the others.
