...Sean Danial Warner POV's....
I walked around the room and dropped into one of the large sofas after leaving Franda with Selena. Look at Erick Sinambela and all his colleagues sitting scattered around the room. They looked at each other before turning back to me. I could see their faces were overwhelmed with doubt. And I don't like to think about the cause, I mean, it has to work.
Especially since they have promised that this will be my last contribution in their operation. The rest will be taken over by Interpol, then the witness protection program they offer will be run soon. Because I need to make sure they're gonna keep my family safe, and especially, Franda.
"We installed a geotrack that makes it possible to scan the transmitter of the cell phone signal of every guest who comes tonight, so in the next twenty-four hours, he said, anyone who makes contact with the bookmakers or people who are suspected to be part of their group in this city, we'll find out."
"That's good." I said.
"There is only one problem," Erick glanced at Rudi for a moment before continuing. "Shaiful Eddie didn't show up at the party. According to Rudi, there was only a pair of men and women who claimed to be his personal assistants, coming to represent him to congratulate."
I frowned looking at him. "Shaiful Eddie cancelled his arrival? My uncle didn't say anything about this."
"We are informed that the Malaysian ministry has sent a notice to the airline that was boarded by Syaiful postponed the arrival schedule until next week. Coinciding with charity auctions held by the ministry of tax and customs. Now, even if Syaiful was the one, we'd never know."
"So, you mean everything we did tonight was for nothing?" my sergeant.
"Not so," Rudi interrupted. I could see a sense of disdain flashing in his eyes. "At least we can prove that everyone present tonight is not the suspect we're looking for. And if it does happen, then Syaiful should be suspected, though we cannot be sure that his absence tonight has anything to do with our plans."
I raised my eyebrows hearing it. "Because that means someone has leaked your plans?"
"Or he already knew we were watching him" Erick said. "Because if the local police were involved, he might have already given her the information beforehand."
"So what are your plans? My company is definitely not going to have a party like this again, maybe until New Year's Eve."
"Well, I actually found out about Syaiful, and found out that she had a daughter, Paula Eddie. He lived in Jakarta a few years ago. And in an old article about her, it says that Paula used to date you."
I narrowed my eyes and looked at him, then grunted softly. "Where exactly is this direction of your conversation?"
Now, the reluctance I had seen in Rudi's eyes, increasingly filled the look of his face. "I just thought that maybe, just maybe, we could find out something about his father from him. Regarding his daily schedule, a place that is often visited, or anyone who lately often met. That kind of thing."
"I can't believe it." I shook my head. "And I thought you said tonight was my last 'duty' in your operation?" sarcastic say.
"But unfortunately, I lost contact with Paula many years ago before she returned to Malaysia. So I can't help you, it's a dead end." I said sharply.
"Not really," he said quickly. His eyes glinted enthusiastically as he looked at me. "Actually our agents in Malaysia told us that Syaiful was planning to come here with Paula."
The silence lasted for a while until I finally decided to end the conversation with them and return to Franda. While walking, I shuddered in horror at the possibility of having to meet Paula again and the trigger I felt like it was, well, of course my wife.
"Sean, what's wrong?" I gasped as Franda asked me while shaking her palm in front of my face.
I blinked once twice then threw a smile at him, trying to look calm, but still able to catch my anxiety because now he squinted. "What's wrong? I called you from earlier."
I shook my head and turned away from her gaze. "There's nothing." I said, then galloped towards the closet. I could hear him walking behind me.
In front of the closet, he was standing right in front of me. Both of his hands extended gently rubbed my cheeks and gave a very calming effect for a moment before his fingers moved down my hair. Feeling the touch of her magical hand, my whole body stiffened for a moment and I was closed.
"Trust me, there's nothing." I said after opening my eyes.
He tilted his head at me without saying anything. His gaze scoured my face with eyes filled with worry. His hand is on my cheek again. "I know you're lying and I don't like that."
I sighed while leaning the side of my face against his palm. "You're very stubborn, Franda. Do you know that?" my grumbling, diverting the conversation. But he doesn't care.
"Don't dodge it. Selena told me the court sent me the first trial, are you gonna be okay?"
I cringed looking at him. "Depending," I said calmly. "Are you going to stay with me even if I lose everything in court?"
"That's a stupid question!" his voice snorted at me.
Watching her as good as that made me smile broadly. "You know, the worst possibility I could have ended up with Daddy's house in a small village in Surabaya. Maybe I'll end up being a farmer in a remote area wearing shabby clothes while scratching the weeds and feeding the goats."
He laughed when he heard it.
"Now it's not too late if you want to save yourself, Franda" I said.
He grabbed me by the body, stood on his tiptoes and kissed me on the lips. "And missed all that? I don't think so." whispered in front of my lips.
He closed his eyes and gave me a second kiss. It was longer and more demanding until I had to hold her back as I myself was dragged into the torrent that ran all over my body and ended up at the base of my increasingly hardened and full hips. We kissed for a long time. The activity made me realize that whenever I would not be able to let go of this woman, I would not be willing even if she wanted to leave me.
Pulling my lips from her lips, I combed a pinch of hair from her face and tucked it behind her ear. "Listen, Franda, I might lose it all, but I can't lose you either."
He cupped my face with both hands while looking me fixedly in the eye. "You'll never lose me, no matter what."
I threw a smile at him. "That's all I want to hear."
