...Sean Danial Warner POV's...
I lifted my head as soon as I heard the emergency room door open and found a female doctor coming out of it. His face looks flat but I'm sure what he will say is not good news to hear because my eyes caught him breathing rough when he saw us.
Gritting my grip on Franda's hand, I pulled her up to greet the doctor. "How's my sister doing, doc?" much worry. I could feel Franda's hand trembling against my arm, and I rubbed her hand without taking the doctor's gaze away.
A forced smile was clearly visible on the doctor's face. He looked down for a while, then when he looked back at us, he spoke. "He's fine." I felt a little relieved, but it didn't last long because the next sentence hit my chest. "But I can't save the fetus." I immediately turned my eyes to Franda.
His body trembled violently, his eyes began to water and before long he relaxed. Luckily, I held her body before she collapsed onto the floor. Franda was so shaken by what we just heard. The fear that had occupied our minds had just come true. Mia's pregnant and she's miscarried.
I sat Franda in the chair. He was still silent with tears rushing down his cheeks and down to the shirt he was wearing. His face was flat, his gaze was blank, and it made me even more sick. "Franda," called me by rubbing her cheek gently. He hasn't answered.
I let it sit for a while and turned to look at the doctor who was still standing near us. "Thank you, doc." I said. The doctor nodded.
"I'm sorry. Her fetus is too weak to be saved" she said sincerely. I nodded resignedly, and looked desperately at the doctor as he stepped away from us.
I turned back to Franda who was still silent. My chest tightened as soon as she returned my gaze. We looked at it for quite a long time. I waited for him to speak, because I thought that was what I saw from the look in his eyes. He looked as if he wanted to say something important to me.
But nothing happened. There were no words, or anything other than tears flowing from his eyes.
"You can talk to me, Franda. You know that, right?" I break the silence.
He gave me a look that implied both great sorrow and great guilt. Her brown eyes were now no longer glowing, Franda always looked like that whenever she felt anxious. I wish I could erase all those bad feelings from her heart. Make it strong and sure that everything will be fine, but it's hard. Franda was too fragile to deal with these kinds of things. She was not designed to be a strong woman in one hit, it took several blows to restore her spirit.
I raised my hand to cupped her face while looking into her eyes. "It's not your fault, Franda. Stop blaming yourself, baby. What happened to Mia was not your fault at all. You didn't know she was pregnant, and I'm sure Mia herself didn't realize that." I stopped and looked at his face. "I believe in you. And I hope you do the same."
Franda was still silent, while her eyes were closed. I could feel the pain in his chest because I felt the same pain. Of course Franda feels guilty considering last night they went to the bar to drink, and that's exactly what made Mia miscarry.
I let out a heavy breath, pulling it back into my eight. Let her cry on my chest, because that's what she needs now. A place to lean back and evaporate all the raging feelings in her heart until she calmed down, until she was willing to open her mouth.
But he remained silent until Edward finally came. He hurriedly approached us. "What about Mia?" The look on his face was not much different from Franda when he came earlier. Anxious and worried.
I turned to Franda for a moment, asking for approval to say about Mia to Edward through the look in my eyes and she nodded in despair.
Edward's face changed instantly. His jaw hardened until his teeth made a clenching sound, his hands clenched at his sides, and as he turned to Franda, I spoke again. "Johns. Calm yourself, okay? I know we're guilty of not taking good care of him, but.. can we just deal with this calmly?"
My body staggered back because I had not expected Edward to hit me. I blinked to restore my now blurry vision from his punch. I gulped and could feel blood coming out of the inside of my torn cheek.
My body wasn't really straight yet when Edward gripped my shirt tight. I closed my eyes when I saw his hands held high and about to hit me again, but for a moment I felt nothing. Then my ears caught Franda's shrieking, and I opened my eyes.
My chest rumbled violently, my hand catching Franda's body that was about to fall right in front of me. He held onto her cheek that Edward had just hit. I was getting angry when I saw blood flowing from the corner of his lips. "Oh my God, Franda." My hands trembled touching the area around his lips that was bleeding.
My face turned to Edward, my eyes staring intently at his eyes. I stood up and wanted to hit him back but Franda held my hand. I could feel him standing up. Her hand pulled my cheek to look at her. Franda. "Don't." he muttered, pleading with the look of his eyes.
I grunt. "He hit you, Franda." I said in a trembling voice, holding back the anger that still filled my brain. Right now I hope she lets me go and let me avenge her brother, but Franda smiled. And his smile almost left me dead out of breath.
With a gentle movement he pulled my head onto his shoulder. "It's okay. I'm fine." he snored softly while patting my back. "Mia needs us more now" he whispered. My eyes closed for a moment, inhaling the scent of soap still emanating from his body, and it made me calm down a bit.
Franda let go of his embrace and turned to Edward. "I'm sorry, Ed. I really don't know." Franda gulped. "You can be angry with me, but not now. Mia needs us and, please, don't be mad at her."
Edward grinned. His eyes looked at us in turn. "I'm too stupid to believe you two." Edward snorted, his teeth clenching. "Look at what you've done, Panda. I let him stay with you, but you destroyed him. Is this how you look after her?"
"John's." I shook my head, asking him to stop his words. I didn't want him to hurt Franda with his words that would probably make Franda feel even more guilty.
But Edward didn't want to stop, but I was quite relieved because now he's venting his anger on me. "I believe you, Sean. And now that you're upsetting me, you're making me sick. Now, tell me how are you gonna finish this?"
I bowed silently. Don't know what to answer because I don't know who did it to Mia. In my heart I cursed the man, and promised to make him pay the price for what he had done to my family. I will chase him even to hell.
We were silent for a long time while waiting for Mia to be moved to the ward. I sat down next to Franda with my hands clasping her hands while Edward sat across from us. His head bowed to the floor, his elbows resting on his knees, and his hands holding his head.
My chest was claustrophobic about what would happen next. Especially in Franda. I'm afraid she'll go back to chaos, my fear growing when I think about the incident when we lost a baby in her womb some time ago. At that time Franda was hostile towards everyone, and it was not impossible for him to do that again later. I can only hope that he is strong enough this time, because if not, then everything will be gone.
I would lose her again, lose her smile, lose her laugh, lose all her habits while teasing me. For God's sake, I'm not ready to be in that position anymore.
