The scorching sun, and the gusts of dry wind instantly greeted me as soon as I set foot on the terrace of my room at the resort.
It's the first time I've sat in this place since Sean left me and Mia in Queensland. Life has been boring since that day. He has been in Indonesia for five days without giving me any news. Only Ameer occasionally sends a message to say that Sean is fine.
I don't know how big of a problem Dave is causing at the company, and there's nothing I can do to help but sit still and refrain from whining like a kid. I believe Sean won't do something that will disappoint me, he's just focused on getting things done quickly so he can get back here soon.
I sighed, looking deep into the vast ocean before me. As far as I could see there were only a few people playing by the beach as well as some men surfing.
I tried to take my mind off Sean by busying myself with drawing patterns in sketchbooks and doing things related to women's pleasure in general, but it didn't last long. Soon after the activity stops, I will again remember the male and sexy creature.
Ever since Sean left, I haven't even visited the forest house. And now that I miss that place, what is it like now? Has he turned into a beast cage? Are the forest dwellers having fun there?
"What are you thinking?" I turned my head and found Mia standing in the doorway behind me holding two bottles of beer, looking at me with an inquisitive look. His eyes traced my face fixedly, as if trying to solve the riddle that was there as he walked towards me.
I turned my head back, looking at the ocean. "Only a few things are not important." I said lazily.
"You won't think about it if it doesn't matter." she replied, holding back a laugh.
Mia took a seat next to me and placed one of the bottles on the table while the other remained in her hands.
For a while we were just quiet with the same direction of view.
"Has he not contacted you yet?" mia's voice finally sounded breaking the silence between us.
I sighed heavily, then nodded slowly. "Hm..it seems like the state of the company is really messed up."
Silence happened again where we were sitting. Contrary to my lackluster self, Mia looked as calm as a cucumber. There has not been a severe cynical sentence or innuendo to bother me like he used to do. Usually it would upset me, but now I think it can take a little of my mind off and ease my anxiety.
Not only because Sean is not here, but also because I still have to focus on my own PTSD problem. I really wanted to let go of all the snares of the past that had been holding me back all this time in order to live a normal life without any excessive fear or anxiety.
I glanced at Mia, she was leaning back while closing her eyes in her chair. It seemed like this kid was too calm considering he himself also had a non-mild problem. This is the advantage of Mia that makes me proud and envious. He can always set a time when to be sad, and when to end it.
"Mia" He opened his eyes and turned to me. "Are you still in touch with that guy?"
"No," I watched his face closely, looking for any lies there. But I didn't find anything. "Well, he's still trying to reach me, actually." continued Mia again.
I nodded slowly. "So, that means you're the one who ignored him?" many ensure.
"Yes. There's no more reason I should be in contact with him, is there? I've decided everything since the last time we met, where finally one of the damn reporters took a picture of us secretly and spread it out" Mia said in a very clear tone.
I advanced my body to grab a bottle of beer from the table, then sipped it a little and put it back down before I turned my head towards Mia again. "What about Jason?" I am polite and careful. Anyway, I think I need to know how far their relationship has gone.
Mia's my sister, and I have a great responsibility to make sure she really learns from her experience. Jason himself is actually a good guy, but that doesn't guarantee anything. What I want is that, if indeed they really step in a more serious direction, then both of them should do everything right. Don't let events like when Mia with the mayor happen again.
Mia looked down, and she was seen gulping. "I don't know." she said softly, more like a whisper. "Jason's a good guy, and he seems to be interested in me. But I'm not sure yet. There's still a lot to consider in our relationship."
"Yes, he's pretty cool for the size of a man who's still heartbroken." Mia smiled at me, trying to look relaxed yet I looked at the bitterness in her eyes.
Rarely do I see him burdened like this. Mia has never harbored her problems in the past, but lately she seems different even though she always tries to cover it up. People may not be able to see the difference from the look in his eyes that harbors sadness, but I can.
"You're right, Jason is a nice guy." I muttered in agreement.
"You're interested in him?"
I turned my eyes hard. "Oh, come on. My man is much better than him." I said, bragging. And I'm not wrong, Sean is better than anyone.
Mia grinned widely. "Yes, no doubt." she replied curiously, watching me from head to toe, then shook her head and clucked her mouth.
My laughter sounded immediately. I haven't said anything yet to answer him, he's spoken again. "You are indeed the most terrible couple ever" he continued, which made my laughter even more loose.
I swept away the drop of tears that escaped at the end of my eyes with my thumb. "I can't believe I'm feeling alive again after I divorced Nino. I mean, you know how desperate I used to be. Recalling those days, I felt grateful for finally daring to make a wise decision. I don't know what's gonna happen if I stick with him."
"Of course you won't be here right now." said Mia, then sipped her beer.
I'm nodding. "Yes, you're right."
I switched to my phone ringing on the table, reached out to grab it and my beer and found Maggie's name on the screen. "Yes, Mags?"
"Are you guys at the resort?" ask from the end of the phone.
"Yes, what's wrong?"
"Oh, great! Sam and I are going to be there soon and we're going to be staying over." he said cheerfully, as if he had just heard the most exciting news.
I smiled amusedly at her tone which somehow sounded funny. "Yes, come." I said quickly. "Do you need..."
"No, we don't need an invitation if that's what you mean" Maggie said, cutting off my words. "Prepare your physique, because tonight we, the girls will party."
I pulled the phone out of my ear for a second to make sure that the one who called me was really Maggie, because she sounded a little different. "Mags, is this really you? I mean, you sound different."
Maggie's laughter was blaring across the street. "Geez, you forgot the rules, girl."
I frowned, then the next second my laughter exploded as I understood what he meant. Maggie's gonna go crazy if she's in trouble with Matthew. And if judging from his chatter, it seems like the problem this time is quite big.
"What happened to you and Matthew, Mags?"
"That's not important now, the important thing is that you have to be prepared because we're going to have fun tonight, okay?"
