I was very surprised as soon as Sean said he would take me to the lake house because his attitude was a little suspicious. Sean never asked permission to surprise me, but yesterday suddenly asked me if I wanted to go to that place or not because normally he wouldn't care about my opinion when he wanted to please me.
"You drive yourself?" I asked Sean a few minutes later the car we were riding in was moving away from the Brisbane Airport area, and was surprised that Sean was not using the driver as usual.
Sean looked at me but his eyes were worried about the streets. "I'm used to driving here. I told you about my childhood, didn't I? I hope you don't forget it."
"And the location of your house is not far from the village where I lived when I was a child." he said again.
I twisted my lips and threw a look out while remembering Sean's story about his childhood. That day we were waiting for Dave in Sean's study when I asked him to tell me about his past life. Sean said they had lived in an area in Australia, I forgot exactly where. For sure they lived there for several years until finally had to move to Indonesia because his father was moved there by the company where he worked.
I was wondering that our trip to where we were taking might be about two or three hours. My eyes looked at the scenery around me with a gloomy feeling even though I knew that what we were crossing were shady and fresh green trees, but my spirit was still not tempted to enjoy everything.
Until Sean knocked on the car door because I was daydreaming all the way. "Franda, we're here. Whaddya think? This place is beautiful, isn't it? We'll stay here." he said, welcoming my hand as I was about to jump out of the car.
I held my hand on Sean's shoulder until I could really stand up. "Oh my God, Sean, did you really take me to the woods?" sambarku while circulating the view. I thought I had seen vaguely rows of simple houses and wooden fences, but now I was really looking at those big, tall trees? "You said we'd be in the village!" seruku again.
Sean whetting. "Yes, this place is still in the Winton village area. And the house in front of it is the house you asked for."
I stared at the wooden house. Completely made of plain wood without a touch of paint. The house was right at the end of the path. Left-right of the unpaved road was flanked by towering trees. There was no other house, it was the end and the only house in this forest.
Sean closed the car door and led me to the house. I stumbled because I was using high heels. When we had climbed the steps of the house which was also made of wood, we arrived at the door.
As Sean opened the door, I turned to look at the tree line that was stretched out in front of me. A bird chirped but I couldn't find its whereabouts. Then the door behind me rattled, a sign Sean had opened it.
When we entered, I shook my head for a while looking at the interior of the house, which was almost entirely made of wood. None of the furniture looked like ours in the house, and it really made me shocked not to play. Sean Danial Warner, my rich husband suddenly turned stingy. I think he wants to offer me a primitive life.
So, as we walked around and were behind the house facing a lawn that had grass on the barbershop and also on the wooden fence, I immediately addressed my complaint to Sean with a reasonable excuse. Of course I can't possibly say that he's frugally right now. "Sean, are you sure we'll stay here? I think this area is pretty wild, wild beasts must be everywhere."
Sean smiled. There was no doubt on his face. "I'm with you, Franda. There's nothing you need to be afraid of." I can't believe Sean's smile suddenly turned teasing me. "Or is there something else you're actually more afraid of?"
I glare. "What?" I was nervous for fear that Sean would understand my head. "Yes, of course. I'm afraid to die of boredom because there's no entertainment here. I'm afraid my body can't relax because there's no spa and all sorts of other women's needs."
Sean glanced at me. "We can get out of this place the day after tomorrow if you really are going to die of boredom. But, at least we'll try to stay here last night. I'm pretty sure you'll like it. There's no better place than to get lost here for a while."
I'm silent. I think that's fair enough. "All right, we'll try. But by the way, is there a signal? Or even electricity?"
Sean was looking funny at me. I don't know what he thinks of me, maybe he thinks of me as metropolis, urban and fussy, and I don't care because I'm afraid to be in the middle of nowhere like this.
I was relieved to hear his words, at least I was still able to connect with the outside world through my phone, and was still able to make video calls with my family. Ah, it's nothing I've missed them.
"Now, sit here and begin to relax with nature already in front of you, Franda." I gasped to hear Sean speak again. "I'll take things off the car."
I sat on the back porch for some time until unknowingly that it was getting late, then stood up to look around the backyard area. Then I heard the sound of leaves ringing. Sean was stepping down into the courtyard when I turned his head. I thought he wanted to get to me, but he walked towards a small hut.
Sean opened the hut and I saw the old machine. He quickly rolled his shirt arm up to the elbow, then turned the machine until the house lights were on. I gasped when Sean suddenly turned to me for lightning. His gaze was slightly sharp but there was a line of thin smiles I could catch in his mouth, indicating he was joking with his eyes. The machine was still very useful despite looking old-fashioned and rusty, somewhat noisy and repeatedly thumping.
I'm happy to be able to recharge my phone tonight and be able to read books on my tablet, because maybe that's all I can do while we're here. I mean, what else is worth doing besides that in the forest. I couldn't possibly run deeper in the forest while there were ferocious beasts that might be preparing to pounce on me.
For a while Sean and I were covered in a long silence. A strange and thrilling silence. Like something that happened between us in the early days of our marriage, and somehow it made me miss him. But then Sean stood up and went inside.
I was busy daydreaming about something I was missing, the spirit that evaporated, the passion that went nowhere, and the comfort that I had with Sean that I couldn't get lately. I was quite aware that it was my deteriorating mental state that caused it all, making my relationship with Sean feel alien.
As night falls and the weather cools, Sean appears at the door. His mouth frowned and his forehead wrinkled, but his tone was the warmest thing in the middle of the forest at the moment. "Come in. It's getting colder outside."
I complied quickly. My legs went limp as Sean closed the door beside us. I felt scared because I was locked up with him. "All the stuff I put in the room." he muttered to me.
I nodded and followed him into the lounge. In the room were two adjoining rooms, and the other two rooms were located farther back, and Sean's hand pointed to the right-most room in front. I wonder why I can do this, when I should feel comfortable being around him now. I hurried to the room and closed the door.
Damnit. Why does it feel so strange? Like. I just knew him.
Just as I was about to step closer to the bed, Sean had already opened the door and called out to me in a low, hoarse tone of voice, shaking my nerves. "Frand,"
I looked, my neck stiff. "Yes?"
"Trust me, we'll be safe while we're here. I promise there won't be any danger to you." His sea-blue eyes flashed softly. "So, I hope you can relax a little while in this place."
I smiled stiffly and said softly, "I don't know how to trust you, Sean."
"Only one, Franda." - Sean sighed. "relax. You'll only be able to blend in with everything here if you can relax a little. Nature will lead you to what you really want in your life."
Oh my... Sean made my chest rustle. It was so fast that his attitude and attractiveness affected my heart.
